Welcome to /fat/ general!

/fat/ generals are for fat members of /fit/ who want to:

Here we ask other fat anons for advice and give moral support to each other. All of us on this thread are supposed to know losing weight when you're fat is simple thermodynamics; if you put in less than you burn, you will lose weight. It's literally a piece of cake (or two or three.) At the end of the day, this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need to lose weight for any number of reasons. Please take note that there are morons who post in this general giving horrible advice to troll or to reassure their own fucked up autistic views. Just remember the golden rule of weight loss: if your calorie intake is less than what you burn, you WILL lose weight. Another thing to keep in mind are that if you're an autistic spaghetti spiller when you're a fatty you'll still be one when you're in shape. This is only to improve your health and anything else is another issue.

Not gonna lie, been down since my dad passed in March. Was 235 then...221 now..goal weight of 200. Feel good physically, looking slightly more aesthetic.

1hr. plus workout every day...one rest day every couple weeks or 10 days...had one cheat meal recently of pizza and a rest day because weight stalled, lost 4 pounds since then.

Upcoming Metallica show will be more fun now since shirts fit.

I used to bake a lot of trays of blueberry muffin blondies. Carb count was like 7g a pop or so, tasted amazing.

But I couldn't trust myself with that many moist... soft... brownies existing in my purview. Made me cut back other meals just to eat another brownie.

So I finished the last batch and quit makin' 'em. Got some kirkland protein bars instead.

With it tasting like shit at least there's no temptation.

Your comfort level will grow with time. When I first started going (18 months ago), I would stick to the newer area they had where the casuals would lift, and slowly ventured out to other areas in the gym like the deadlifting platforms and the racks - I walk around like I own the place now an am comfortable doing whatever regardless of what people may think of me (reality is they dont think shit because they are focused on themselves).

Key is to just make it a regular part of your life and you will relax into it in time.

Don't hate yourself, you don't deserve it. Far be it from me to tell you that hating yourself isn't good motivation - it definitely is - but it comes at a cost.

I remember when I was a fat fuck: 280 lb, 6'', 20 yrs old. Was strong because i had some muscle but i had a ton of fat and looked like shit. Fucking hated myself and would call myself all kinds of things that nobody else on this earth would call me. I'd read myself the same script over and over in my head just to get to the gym, and when I'm at the gym id hate myself even more to go harder.

Fast forward a year and I'm fit by anyone's standards except perhaps the real diehards on /fit/. 210 lb, 10% bodyfat. Even though I'm in better shape than almost everyone around me, the same shit I told myself through all those evening workouts has stuck. I still hate myself.

I remember dreading having to workout because of how hard it would be mentally, not physically. There was a time when I outright said to myself "this negative shit is going to take a toll, you need to stop dipping into this pool for your motivation." I really said some shit like that to myself a while ago. It just got worse and worse and now I don't even feel like a human being.

So yeah, all the neurotic emotions are the strongest motivators, but if you go to those as a matter of routine you're going to pull out with more than you intended. You guys should try not to be like me - find a different way to motivate yourselves to lose weight.

If you have trouble losing weight, get a dog. I didn't give a shit about myself but I had altruism for others. When I got an Akita pupper (they need a lot of exercise everyday) I started doing runs with him every day and it inspired me to go on a diet and stop being a fatass. Know that feeling man and it wasn't even my parents (yet). A few years ago my only friend died in a freak repelling accident, his gear just failed and he dropped like 100+ feet. I was already fat then but seeing most of my friends die I just basically said "fuck it" at that point and ballooned to around 330 pounds. Took me a while to realize I was going to join them soon if I didn't stop the pity party soon.

It's one day at a time man. Shit is going to get hard but it does get better. Keep the memories with you as long as you can. I'm probably going to lose my shit when my parents die. Stay with it, he wouldn't want to see you go down my road.

I'm confused with how to eat now that I'm lifting, /fat/.

I've been eating at 1500 calories for 7 months now and was not exercising previously. Easy 2lbs per week off the scale every week.

I've been lifting for the last two weeks and my weight is all over the place. I understand that there is some water retention going on and I can live with that.

My biggest concern is the amount of food I need to be eating. I monitor my calorie intake, heart rate, and active calories. Do I need to go above 1500 now that Iift? I still want to lose another 10 pounds of fat, minimum.

I'm at 214 lbs (Lost a LOT in the past few months), doing 1500 calorie dieting, going to the gym and doing both cardio and strength. I stay there for 2-3 hours, alternating between the two, focusing more on cardio when my muscles get too fucking sore to do more reps.

When first starting out, I was always so tired and lazy, but now I get such a huge burst of energy and feel like I can keep going and going for hours. So that's 5 slics of pizza, half a ribeye with bbq sauce, mashed potatoes, salad and a bowl of french onion soup. I have NO idea how many calories this is but I feel disgusting.

Yeah you're probably right. Best estimate is maybe just a little over 2,000. Worst is closer to 3. I really can't be sure. The soup was big but that was becaue I was planning on just having that. The steak probably wasn't bad aside from the bbq sauce. The salad was almost nothing and I barely put a dab of ranch dressing on.

Use that to find your body fat percentage, then use that to get your TDEE (always use least activity igaf if you run 10 miles a day). Seriously dude? Some of the falling off the wagon stories I've read here are way fucking worse than that. You probably ate no more than 2,000 to 2,500 calories. French onion soup is usually around like 500. Then steak is miniscule, half of one? maybe 300 cals. With bbq sauce maybe 400. So say with the salad that's around 1,000. Then 5 slices of pizza is probably another 1,000 and if you want to be really dire maybe 1,500. You'll be fine.

Step 1: Eat WHATEVER you want WHENEVER you want it.
Step 2: Drink less water and more of anything else. Juice, soda, alcohol... WHATEVER. The more sugar and calories the better.
Step 3: Eat plenty of deserts and sweets. Lots of cookies, cake and donuts. Especially donuts! Anything with chocolate.
Step 4: Lots of Italian food. Lots of pasta and pizza especially. Lots of bread too.
Step 5. Don't count calories, don't watch you weight and don't give a FUCK about your health.

Depends on what makes up those cals, obviously. And whether you're working out or not. For a sedentary lifestyle, as long as you're eating healthy and getting all the right macros, you should be fine, losing a bit of weight on the way. The hunger will test your mental fortitude, though, and it's gonna be hard. And if you give in and binge, you're gonna feel like shit afterwards.

Yeah, I'm counting my cals for possible meals right now, and 1500 looks to be a lot more reasonable. I'm not sure how long I could last on 1000, since it turns out that's not a lot of food. I used to eat that much for breakfast alone. As for exercise, I'm thinking about a stationary bike right now, as it'll allow me to work out from home all year around, plus I can listen to music or watch a movie while cycling, making it a lot easier on the mind. And it's cardio, which seems to be the thing I need the most right now. As for lifting, I though about trying pushups, first on my knees or something similar, and then real ones once my arms are strong enough and I've lost some lard.

Yeah you could set your limit to 2,000 calorie and be fine for a while m8. Eating 1,000 below maintenance is really good. Also if you walk or do an excercise bike that will really help you along faster I think. No need to go too extreme with cutting food just yet. Besides it can be a lot harder your first month or so. So if you cut too much too soon it could discourage you.

My first week of dieting I thought 2,000 cals was insanely difficult and could barely do it. Now I have 1,200 calorie days from time to time. But typically around 1,500 - 1,800.

Thanks man, I'll need the luck. I've actually got a pretty decent diet planned out at 1500 cals, and that leaves me with a deficit of around 1500 per day. I think I'll manage, but if things get too hard, I can always bump it up to 2000. Either way, I think the biggest difference will be the source of those calories, as it used to be mainly junk food. Just the soda alone probably gave me something like 500-600 per day. Now I'm done with all that shit, and even if I feel the need for an extra snack, it's gonna be an apple or something, rather than a slice of pizza.

As for all the stuff about snacks and soda, that was exactly what I went through. I spent my first2 weeks cutting back. Maybe having a can of root beer once a day or a glass of orange juice. But after a while I just started drinking nothing but water and haven't looked back. And I used to hate drinking water.

Another good thing to help with cutting calories is drinking a lot of water right before and/or during your meals. I usually eat dinner and drink 2-3 16oz bottles with it. It helps you feel a lot more full and should help your cravings afterward.

I had a bad two weeks and ate like shit (kept fighting with roommate, lots of outside stress so i didn't feel like cooking, so we ordered out). Still tried to make good decisions but most places that deliver here are high calorie.

But i kept up with my workouts so i basically didn't go anywhere. I didn't gain any bodyfat from what I can see, I tested it by trying on clothes in a store and was actually down a size but my weigh in is on tuesday. I'll know for sure then.

then ate

4x 100 calorie brunch bars

went from 240 to 215 in a month so far(with a cruise ship cheat + no water) with keto so far.

At the moment, I go throughout the weekday eating between 200+700 calories with about 5-10g carbs, usually 1 meal a day.

For the weekend however. Im planning on doubling it to 1200-1400 to avoid platueing from the low calorie deficit, while eating twice a day.

Is what i'm doing a good idea? cooking with the coconut oil, eating the fatty bacons and red meats with leafy greens with some bits of swiss/gouda cheese on the side and a shitton of water

Not the first poster, but I really hope this is the case. My weight hardly goes down, but I'm also doing a shitton of strength on top of cardio.

I do know I'm making gains though. Just like that anon, I fit in smaller clothes, and I can feel my muscles growing. The weight number just isn't really going down that much.
