You could also measure how much oil you put in the pan and when you take out the food, estimate how much is left.

My grip is for the most part a non-issue it's strong enough to hold on but most of the work is done by friction with the knurling of the bar. So training on a bar with the right knurling is important as the lift starts and ends with your hands on the bar. Training on shitty bars will stall progress as slips occur and tears on your hands stop you in your tracks.

As for sumo, I don't know what that is

First week back to pulling sumo and we're pulling babbyweight! Explosive day(55%) happened and while getting back into a groove on sumo is a bit rough, once I found it the pulls became absolutely trivial, which is what was supposed to happen. The weight will be less embarrassing in the future, I promise.

1x5 should be a sufficient load and if you want to do HEAVIER sets then it obviously wasnt THAT HEAVY. and if you're actually strong, the fatigue can accumulate into next week for VD. maybe not instantly, but thats what fatigue accumulation is - and adding the extra heavy sets does more harm than good if the 1x5 is sufficient.

I want to do extra work on ID days initially because I was on Candito's prior to this and did well with the heavy volume, but just cannot commit to the extra time in the gym it requires right now.

I wanted to incorporate slingshot work because my speed is shit off the chest and felt like it'd help my body groove better at the bottom of the bench. Or is that a bad way to use it?

No problem, friend

Slingshot is better used for overloading the upper portion of the lift since it assists out of the bottom and you can load heavier weights to lockout at the top.

I've not personally used it but in terms of better grooving at the bottom it might not help significantly since it inherently 'moves you' out of the bottom, if that makes sense.

I would just focus on getting stronger in general by following the programme assuming you havent failed anything, since getting stronger will fix both speed and grooving if you have clean reps on both VD and ID.

if you really want to use the slingshot you could try rotating ID between regular bench one week, and slingshot the next - but just remember its an overloading tool (think like rack pulls)

Not him but i'll answer your question.

Generally when you start doing TM, ID consists of 1x5 sets. As you begin to stall, it is advised that you move onto doing 1x3 (your 3RM) instead of 1x5 so you can continue to progress.

As you begin to stall on 1x3 (which should not happen until you've been on the program for quite a few months), one of your options is to do 2x3 on ID day, the first set being your 3RM and the second being a back off set etc.

TL;DR you should only add volume to ID when you've exhausted your other options and you're no longer progressing in strength (1x5, 1x3 etc.)

I suggest you read Lasecks book on TM.

Candito's program is six weeks, Connor Lutz has a seven week program, Sheiko is obviously great although I'm a little hesitant to recommend it to fairly new lifters with ez gainz still on the table. For more of a hypetrophy focus, which is important, I'd say one of the many many 5/3/1 variants or Juggernaut is a good choice as well.

hello guys, is there a good guide for training routines for power lifting or power lifting for starters?

I'm new to this and to /fit/ in general.

I really want to get stronger, fuck astethic.
is power lifting the right choice for me? in 5 years I want to archive bear mode, is this realistic? (pic related)

can you guys please give me some input, I really want to chance things.

I was thinking what we were talking about yesterday (getting to a 600+ squat) and I was thinking how when I do get there there's gonna be people who are like "oh, yeah, I could do that" etc and that's perfectly fine, it's just kinda ridiculous. It's supposed to be the weight listed with chains on top. That way you think "oh, it's only 70%" when in the bottom it's probably 75-80 and at the top it's 85+.

103KG Bench for 5 sets
170KG Deads for 2 sets

And by the time I got to deadlifts I was just mentally and physically fucked, didn't even get up to my working weights because it felt so slow
