My dog might not make it till Monday lads, don't know how to deal with it tbqh
who the fuck cares tripshit, this is /plg/ not /b/
how 2 count calories when cooking lads
e.g. i cut a chicken breast in half, breaded it with flour/egg/panko, plopped it in a pan with oil
i rarely cook actual things so itś easy to add ingredients together but i have no idea how much oil it absorbed god damnit
if bulking, underestimate
if cutting, overestimate
You could also measure how much oil you put in the pan and when you take out the food, estimate how much is left.
Just estimate, you don't need to be 100% precise, you just need to be consistent so there aren't fluctuations
that must be really hard
have a peep
But the dog is black, don't pretend you care
Ugh sorry to hear that. Hopefully my little doge has a good five years left. Last one died at 7 ;_;
I've had 2 dogs before, one got to 10 before we had to give her away, then current which is turning 11, never had to deal with the death of a dog yet, so it hit pretty hard
Qt dog tho, would pat/10
Yes it's my doge
Jolie the doge
>tfw looking at that picture caused me to smell sweat and barbell metal
Of all the tests only 2 planes have failed to destroy it.
to be fair your angle of attack for that jet is poor
those things HAVE to be straight on and keep going straight at the target for the semi active guidance to be really accurate atleast from what I've seen
(what are we training next, plg?)
We can bench if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't bench
And if they don't bench
Well they're no friends of mine

SSB full meme squats. I'll probably widen my stance some, they were easy last time but my knees felt iffy for the rest of the day.
Aww fuck. Sorry dude.
No. Necesitas ser puro y tu no eres
Hasta manana plg.
(can't figure out accents on my phone)
Tomorrow I drive to Wisconsin for my meet with Alex.
Break in and take it, don't let them keep you away from the super swanky bar, it's destiny.
yet again, whatever the fuck I want : ^ )
probably going to work on some cleans again. Maybe do some close grip benchinch too.
and rows upon rows upon rows upon rows.
Kek. I got away with violating so many rules at my old gym because I befriended the cranky old maintenance man who always seemed to be working. See if you can't find one at yours.
Nice pupper what's it's name?
What gender do they identify as?
Here is spirit. She's getting old.
Ohhh it's you.
And nigga it's like midnight-30
ok then I'll just give you the shit now
what time are you planning on getting here?
what kind of food do you want for dinner
make sure you and your friend print out the waivers they emailed to you before you come
make sure you have all of your shit before you leave (singlet/shoes/wrist wraps/etc)
remember that we are an hour behind you (idk if phones automatically adjust time for location)
have fun with your drive, see you tomorrow
We will prob be leaving around 3. 5 hour drive and will also be traveling back in time so like 7 I guess.
And I really don't know. Are there any nice local places?
And I don't remember anything about a waiver.
Also by nice I don't mean fancy and expensive.
Just something comfy
you seem happier in the last couple of days
What's going on here? Doesn't look low enough but 3 people said it was low enough. It's a PR for me but I saw this and it looks too high.
Is this better? Or is the bar in the way?
That's because he's been having a wank ten times a day to blow off the extra energy he's not using on Boris' mad meme routine.
I've seen shit saying anywhere from 60-85%.
We can't even see one of the reference points because of the giant safety bar and the angle is trash anyway. If the people that told you that you were good generally know what's up, listen to them.
nah m8 i'll catch him.
i think your point about not being able to get a big enough breath at the bottom, is less applicable in sumo. I like the idea of always pulling as fast as you can though. have you ever had your grip fail just because when you grabbed the bar your hands were in the wrong place or something?
My grip is for the most part a non-issue it's strong enough to hold on but most of the work is done by friction with the knurling of the bar. So training on a bar with the right knurling is important as the lift starts and ends with your hands on the bar. Training on shitty bars will stall progress as slips occur and tears on your hands stop you in your tracks.
As for sumo, I don't know what that is
Sorry about your dog. I'm still doing the couch/death stretches you recommended and I'm seeing an improvement in how long I can hold them. We'll see how my erectors hold up next time I squat though. I'm sure it's not fixed yet but I'm following your advice senpai.
Have a good day /plg/ :D
Fire up the Low Orbital Bully Cannons, Bort's pulling 2 plate!
First week back to pulling sumo and we're pulling babbyweight! Explosive day(55%) happened and while getting back into a groove on sumo is a bit rough, once I found it the pulls became absolutely trivial, which is what was supposed to happen. The weight will be less embarrassing in the future, I promise.
Today talks a little bit about Cube structure, and more about the importance of not being a compulsive program-hopper.

Also it's a stipulation because I film in a public gym with stupid "no filming" rules because "a bunch of paranoid people are afraid of the government making them disappear if they show up on a camera" according to my previous manager.

asked in an earlier thread but didn't get a definitive reply.
Would it be acceptable to add some heavy doubles or triples onto the end of my bench 1x5 on intensity day during TM?
I will be doing Squats 1x5, deads 1x5, bench,
Did speed work on wednesday
Separate back and fluff day on saturday
>Would it be acceptable to add some heavy doubles or triples onto the end of my bench 1x5 on intensity day during TM?
Yes, I think it's a good idea for most people to do that for TM bench anyway.
Alright guys, gonna summarise my first week back after taking a week off
>Volume days: Came back stronger. Felt way good desu. Smashed out 5x5 ezpz
>Intensity days: Holy fuck it was a fail. I could barely grind and each of my lifts went down a good 10-15kg except for deadlift, of which i missed 1 rep.
What does this mean? What do i do from here?
alright thats the answer I was looking for.. Seems odd to do that much volume for legs on ID, but then only one set of bench..
Think I'll work up to a top set of 2 with the slingshot, then do an AMRAP backoff set at maybe 70%?
Then why can I deadlift after squats bro? Shouldn't i not have enough energy left?
Your reasoning is shit.. I can perform at or near my 5RM for ONE SET, and still have energy left over..
Why can't you?
dude probably has no pecs. My bench always grows with more volume... Sticking to a typical VD ID split for legs works because I don't want to fry my lower back, but it doesnt really make sense for upper body tbqh
very defensive little thing aren't you
in situations like the first few weeks of TM, or if you hopped on intermediate training too early then having multiple max effort sets is fine
1x5 should be a sufficient load and if you want to do HEAVIER sets then it obviously wasnt THAT HEAVY. and if you're actually strong, the fatigue can accumulate into next week for VD. maybe not instantly, but thats what fatigue accumulation is - and adding the extra heavy sets does more harm than good if the 1x5 is sufficient.
>inherently bad for you
you obviously came on here so people would confirm your thoughts, not give you actual criticism. otherwise you'd ask why I figured it was a bad idea instead of get all defensive and take on the other side without reason
the point still stands whether he wants to do a heavy triple or submaximal triples - it was a vague question so I gave a vague answer. there are situations where its fine, but tossing it in "cause I feel like" is not a good call.
Sorry to hear that, putting down my cat who have been with my my whole life tonight, don't know how to deal with it either
I just looked at the starting strength wiki and took the one template. Took out the backwork, and put it on a separate day
not being defensive, sorry my innate shitposting comes out.
I want to do extra work on ID days initially because I was on Candito's prior to this and did well with the heavy volume, but just cannot commit to the extra time in the gym it requires right now.
I wanted to incorporate slingshot work because my speed is shit off the chest and felt like it'd help my body groove better at the bottom of the bench. Or is that a bad way to use it?
>very defensive little thing aren't you
How the fuck is >>35625593 defensive? It's a honest question.
>in situations like the first few weeks of TM, or if you hopped on intermediate training too early then having multiple max effort sets is fine
You're the only one who's talking about having multiple max effort sets
>1x5 should be a sufficient load
>and if you want to do HEAVIER sets then it obviously wasnt THAT HEAVY
You're the only one who's talking about adding heavier sets
>and if you're actually strong, the fatigue can accumulate into next week for VD.
Fair point. Altough that probably won't be a problem when you're training with low volume(TM).
It's not the kind of game where that really matters and you probably won't have time to admire them but they are pretty good really.
Don't pay full price for the game though. Multi-player is pretty dead.
No problem, friend
Slingshot is better used for overloading the upper portion of the lift since it assists out of the bottom and you can load heavier weights to lockout at the top.
I've not personally used it but in terms of better grooving at the bottom it might not help significantly since it inherently 'moves you' out of the bottom, if that makes sense.
I would just focus on getting stronger in general by following the programme assuming you havent failed anything, since getting stronger will fix both speed and grooving if you have clean reps on both VD and ID.
if you really want to use the slingshot you could try rotating ID between regular bench one week, and slingshot the next - but just remember its an overloading tool (think like rack pulls)
I was quoting the original poster as defensive, and you because what I was going to say was relevant to your question. but now the defensive part seems to include you
>multiple max effort sets
read the last point on my previous post.
>won't be a problem
you seem to not understand that you adapt to the volume you're given. adapting to inactivity is an adaptation in itself.
if you're adapted, or want to adapt to using TM style programming, 1x5 is what is to be used initially. there is then a logical sequence to follow.
adding sets without reason is not a good idea, and if/when it eventually fails, they'll blame the programme.
Ok PLG SERIOUS question
Im going to a trip with gf, we'll be visiting thailand for 2weeks
I thought that i could do squats / front squats, good mornings and bench press with my GF's weight. Do you think that it would be any good? Any other exercises to do when you don't have acces to the gym that aren't so cardio related?
Tfw ill be doing like sets of 20 with her
Skwaat: hit 5pl8 deep and slow listening to kesha. Not really a PR but I'm pretty sure its the first time I've gone up to 5pl8 with getting hyped up.
Front squat: used straps, and got the bar set all the way behind my front delts. Feels like its fucking choking me but also feels a lot more secure. Hit 315x2 paused at max depth.
Did like 6 sets of pulldowns and some curls for my upper pull work.
GHR: 1x10 BW, 1x6 red band
Sorry mate. You're welcome to feel with us.
Lost my last dog bro the first week I was gone at college. Lung cancer, but he was such a badass we didn't know anything was wrong with him until about 2-3 days before he died. Never slowed him down.
I honestly hate it, when advanced pple here tell early intermediate trainers to add this and that to TM. Its obvious that these +200kg squat machines need more volume, but it looks like they have forgot what it took for them to progress as an intermediate.
TM as it is is enough. But for powerlifting its not the best routine if now modified a bit (OHP to bench ratio should not be 1:1 etc)
I'm literally asking for suggestions. Can you at least list a few so I can research which one I like better myself?
Not him but i'll answer your question.
Generally when you start doing TM, ID consists of 1x5 sets. As you begin to stall, it is advised that you move onto doing 1x3 (your 3RM) instead of 1x5 so you can continue to progress.
As you begin to stall on 1x3 (which should not happen until you've been on the program for quite a few months), one of your options is to do 2x3 on ID day, the first set being your 3RM and the second being a back off set etc.
TL;DR you should only add volume to ID when you've exhausted your other options and you're no longer progressing in strength (1x5, 1x3 etc.)
I suggest you read Lasecks book on TM.
Advanced people are only telling people to add to TM because there are people here who have started stalling on it.
I am one of them; started stalling on conventional 3 day TM split and it was suggested I move on to the 4 day TM split and now i'm back on the gain train.
>Front squat: used straps
So do you put the wrist portion on the bar and just hold onto the loose end?
Candito's program is six weeks, Connor Lutz has a seven week program, Sheiko is obviously great although I'm a little hesitant to recommend it to fairly new lifters with ez gainz still on the table. For more of a hypetrophy focus, which is important, I'd say one of the many many 5/3/1 variants or Juggernaut is a good choice as well.
Op here, I've actually never run tm before and got up to 3,4,5 stats at 5'8" and 185 with relative ease. I'm actually kind of chubby right now though so I thought I'd be able to do an intermittent fasting diet and make some ok progress at the same time. Being that really only 2 days out of the week matter for progress
**ANON'S EZGAINZ 4-DAY TM SET-UP**
>SQ 5x5, BP 6x5
>Paused DL 4x4, CGBP 4x5
>SQ 3x2, BP 3x2
>DL 3x2, Overload BP 3x3
Rows/pullups on deadlift days for a few higher rep sets, literally does not matter, arm pump stuff whenever, also literally does not matter, prehab (facepulls and hamstring curls recommended) ALSO whenever and ALSO literally does not matter.
Pretty much yeah. Wrist part goes around the bar. You grab the part that is normally on the bar and wrap around your hand to get the desired length.
I like it over clean grip becuase it feels more secure than having my fingertips on the bar, and I like it over cross grip becuase its not lopsided.
Worked well enough for me. What's wrong with
>three (actually four) times a week
>4x4 paused deads
Volume = gainz, frequency = gainz and tbqh benching five times a week is more than feasible, 4x4 = heavier weight and better quality reps for your deadlifting.
I program hopped and did body building crap for a long time in college. Then got injured had 2 surgeries on my right arm and lost my Lean-ness. Spent about the last 18 months going from a 4 day split to madcows to canditos and some 531. I fuck around too much I think
there are three [heavy] pressing days, which is ridiculous. you can bench 5 times a week sure, but you can't do heavy every time.
VD is strenuous
ID is strenuous
Overloading bench is strenuous
+ another pressing day
>Volume = gainz
why not do 100x100 with that logic
and doing 5x5 sq followed by 4x4 dl even if not on the same day is hard given that you're not weak af. unless you're basically doing a vertical torso highbar for squats, its hard on the posterior chain.
and 4x4 is more of a personal peeve because its just using a rep range out of conventional standard. its like using 3x9 instead of 3x8 so it seems novel and revolutionary.
Just because you think volume day should be brutally difficult and grindy does not mean that's how things actually work. I got my best squat gains using about 77% of my E1RM for volume work, bench just a little higher. And either way "strenuous" benching still isn't really that difficult when you're newish and your bench is trash.
Also I now daily max bench five times a week :^)
strenuous =/= brutally difficult and grindy
a VD with every rep done perfectly is still a stressful stimulus, let alone adding a 6th set - such is the point of TM.
>isn't really that difficult when you're newish and your bench is trash
oh ok, so this is a 4 day TM for novices
do SS instead.
1 submaximal single is not as stressful as 6x5, maximal triples or overload triples.
No hype crew reporting in
I do this almost automatically and i've been mentally punishing myself for it, telling myself I should be pausing all of my reps :(

I think because of frequency and intensity, you'd benefit from Smolov Sr if you focus only on bench or squat and not all four.
I pause every bench rep including even warmups.

I've been whacking off like back when i was 15 years old and realized I could watch porn on my PSP. really not that great desu.
I also realized i have the jugggernaut SB&D manuals, I might as well put them in there too.
Failed both squats and bench on ID of TM.
I should have hit:
Squat 3rm 127,5kg with 100kg 5x5 VD
Bench 3rm 67,5kg with 50kg 5x5 VD
Deadlift 3rm 107,5kg
First rep of the squat wasn't even to depth and I couldn't get out of the hole on the second rep.Same goes for bench.
I came back from a 2 week break last Monday,I did the week normally but I only could get my last ID numbers for a single.
I thought nothing of it because I had very bad doms from VD since I wasn't able to train for a while.
After today I'm lost, what should I do?Deload every lift but deads and up my volume?
I started TM with VD lower than 90% of ID because some people here said it was too much, stats were
Squat 3rm 117,5kg with 95kg 5x5 VD
Bench 3rm 57,5kg with 45kg 5x5 VD
Deadlift 3rm 97,5kg
Should I just follow the normal schedule and up VD to 90% of my max?
I want to share some personal feelings with you lads.
I feel depressed because I feel as if I'm out of the loop and no longer important in any bodies lives.
I feel like all people I once knew very well are in a bubble which I can't ever enter again.
I feel confused and my perspective on life feels weird and pessimistic
Keep VD at what it was before your two week break and work back up the your ID.
I have the exact same shit with TM - as soon as i fall out of the program and have a few day pauses, my lifts suffer hard.
This was the worst with bench, it took a 10kg hit from a few days off.
Hype song for tomorrow.
Today i lost my shit senpai
So they guy next to me in class, who is an absolute DYEL, wanted to lecture me that squats below parallel are useless
When i told him that this is wrong he said his personal trainer friend told him this so it must be true. When i tried to get more into detail and explain it to him he said something like "yeah ok anon, you sure know it better than my personal trainer friend." thats where i lost it. I went full autist and told him to go and fuck his PT and read a fucking book about biomechanics and never talk to me again, all in a loud tone.
I feel better now.
yup. just noticed that. I think I'll hold off. lol
idk man, i think its generally advised against....
I've taken the corner of a foam roller and just hit the meat though, like not on the spine, just the loin muscle
excited to vote for trump benchie?
I had a very good friend who graduated this last December. He went to school w/ me and webm related, all of us chemical engineering.
He played football in high school like most red blooded american men.
He weighed about 180 lbs, and when me and webm related would get to talking about powerlifting, he would interject often, pointing out that i weight 260+ and had a 600 lb squat, and that he was 150 in high school and squatted 500 lbs. Me and webm related REPEATEDLY told him there was NO way in hell that was true, but he swore by it (the guy is seriously DYEL - literally zero physical activity at all)
"well i don't do it any more because my knees"
"and i've been out of sports for so long"
it took well over 1.5 years for me and her to sit him down, point out what USAPL squat depth is, then show him the fucking USA and world records in his class, and tell him
>you might have put 500 lbs on a bar, and walked it out and curtsied, but you didn't squat it
until he finally was like "oh... you know, you guys might be right lol"
I love the dude, great friend but damn. that was just painful every single time.
Coincidentally, i've come across COUNTLESS people who "Squatted 500 / 550 / 600 back in the day but can't any more because their knees are too banged up"
I don't argue with any one ever, I just acknowledge very non enthusiastically and move on.
I want to specialise chin-ups.
How should I go about this?
My best chin-ups is 12
I usually get 5x6-8 at the end of heavy lifting.
I want to do them weighted but don't really know if I should get them stronger unweighted first or what?
Most people hit about 12-14 and stall out on bodyweight, best way to get your bodyweight reps up is to start doing them weighted. 5, 5, 5+ adding 2.5 lbs per session to keep you progressing longer.
Well i guess your friend still acted friendly and didn't think youre a dumbass just because he has an PT friend. Goddammit i still want to punch his faggot face with his faggot voice for being this cocky.
Can some one check my logic here?
train it just like anything else.
>If you're just beginning training chinups
Just treat it similar to what SS does - multiple sessions a week, with small, linear progression jumps (eg every session, add 1 kg to weight or add 1 rep to each set, or a combination of the two)
>If you've been training them for a while and are already good at them:
start with a hypertrophy block (lots of other movements + training it unweighted for sets of maybe 10-20 reps). Maybe spend 3 weeks doing this
then move on to an actual building block: at an earlier date, find the weight with wich you can do the specified rep range you want with the most weight possible, then come in and use 60-80 % of that weight for multiple sets at that # of reps. do this for 4 weeks
then drop the number of reps and number of sets a little bit each session for 2-3 weeks, then take a week off, come back and smesh it
kek. man, idk what it is about fitness and sports training and nutrition but GOD DAMN the public is fucking RETARDED, to a level that is not comprehensible. We seriously need to start teaching some of this shit in high school.
Having APT I should focus on couch stretches, but it's really hard to get started with them with those short quads I have.
It hurts incredibly, makes me sweat and tremble and I usually can't hold the 5 min before giving up.
But I hope it gets better.

please tell me you two aren't seriously supporting trump.
aren't you both lower/middle class midwesterners? why the fuck would you support a corporate business fatfuck for president?
hello guys, is there a good guide for training routines for power lifting or power lifting for starters?
I'm new to this and to /fit/ in general.
I really want to get stronger, fuck astethic.
is power lifting the right choice for me? in 5 years I want to archive bear mode, is this realistic? (pic related)
can you guys please give me some input, I really want to chance things.
I didn't want to start a new boring for this.
shillary and sanders are not as bad as trump. as far as the republicans go, trump is pretty shit. bush #3, ben carson or even fuckin rand paul would be eons better.
like, if you could revive/speak with any great republican throughout history and showed them trump? they'd laugh their faces off at what the party has sunk to.
Yeah, that's weird. I was thinking what we were talking about yesterday (getting to a 600+ squat) and I was thinking how when I do get there there's gonna be people who are like "oh, yeah, I could do that" etc and that's perfectly fine, it's just kinda ridiculous. Everyone was a a 800 pound atg high bar squatter in Sophomore year of High School even though they couldn't tell you what 4 pl8 is. "oh, what is that? 500? oh, yeah, i did that back when i played football". Football players are notorious for it, too.
By the way, some chick at work starter talking about how she was a collegiate athlete and that's why this was her first job and everything. Bitch played golf and said her coach could break anyone down. I did exactly what you did which was non enthusiastically nod and go "ok".
>seriously supporting trump
the nigga is a fucking fascist that preaches hyper nationalism.
end of story.
this fucking election is garbage. absolutely garbage. I'm going to have to choose between
>a literal fascist
>a modern socialist that only touches pathos, some ethos and absolutely refuses to mention on logos (dangerous combination)
>shillary clit on, who has ZERO actual credentials to be the leader of this nation
Bernie has potential, but i think he's too narrow sighted. On top of that, 'Merica has had LOTS of fucking social progress in the last 1-2 decades. can i please just have a president that
A) won't fuck up the social progress we've had
and B) can un-fuck the screwy financial and education technical problems we have
thats all i want. its not asking much, but I'll never get it.
right. trump is what american nightmares have been made out of, but he's 'MERICAN so its ok. the other two are garbage as well.
idk about worse. I think if she's elected, shit will mostly just stay the same - corrupt, borken etc etc.
If sanders gets in, I fear there will be some serious tax issues and a really bad social rift, and he'll make brash decisions with little to no logical thought processing, based entirely on emotions and a tiny bit of ethics
>even rand paul would be better
FUUUUCK i thoguht i was the ONLY ONE who thoguht this. and he's pretty garbage lol.
I really like rand's ideas on the federal reserve and how the gubment handles money, but refering to my previous statement about wanting a candidate that wouldn't fuck up our current social progress.... well..... yeah..... hes trash lol
mmmmhmmm. shits pretty annoying.
Its all you can do. the absolute worst athletes and coaches are
>most high school

>D1s are terribel too but they're at least usually athletes and the coaches tended to be more conservative with retardation.

Us Midwesterners are switching to Euro units for height and weight now. I'm 5'10 at 240 and this seems kinda heavy, I plan on getting to 198 but staying at this weight a while. Idk.

Anyone else ran/running PNP2?
Im finding it really hard to do all 3 lifts on the same day at this point. Today I was programmed to do:
142KG Squats for 3 sets
103KG Bench for 5 sets
170KG Deads for 2 sets
And by the time I got to deadlifts I was just mentally and physically fucked, didn't even get up to my working weights because it felt so slow
