I'm hyped for some 90% squats this sunday. The benching portion of TSA nine week (stolen and grafted to sheiko squats/deads) is starting it's taper with an easy day. Probably gonna start to try and pause every rep during this more intense phase instead of just the first rep like I have been doing.

/plg/ I need your help, I've lifted for around 8 months but I always hated doing squats so I kinda skipped them a lot. Now I bench more than I squat and can barely do lmao1pl8 shitty squats, even though I can pull a 3pl8 deadlift.
Is there something I need to fix with my form? video related, it doesn't seem right that I can deadlift more than 2x my squat with ease

I can think of two options
1. Do your ordinary program, see if you can keep going.
2. Do something that has you work a lot and progress slower, like sheiko or some TM with extra volume.
Of course, I think TM may be the best for me because I am a novice lifter.

I don't know. I'd say that it's important to keep on doing what you usually do since lowering both calorie intake and training volume at the same time sounds risky to me.

Probably. Fat loss and muscle building are two different processes, although they affect each other somewhat.

One of those weekends I'll be on a trip and the 19th I'm taking my CSCS certification. If it worked out it'd be fucking great though, I've always wanted to go to the Arnold.

so I am an idiot and I miscounted the number of weeks until the meet (I counted 1 less than there actually were). so then instead of dicking with the program, trying to add in a random week somewhere, I decided to hit my deadlift opener on the last workout of the program (wednesday), then on the day that the program says the meet is on (actually a week from the meet because I'm dumb), I worked up to my openers.
Then the plan is to go in on next week tues/thurs and do 50% 3x5 bench and squats and 1x5 50% deadlifts, then have the meet saturday.

deadlift is 415 i think. but that was a long time ago and I fucked up my skills test so I know 4pl8 will be fine. Kinda iffy though on how ill feel at the time of deadlift so i begrudgingly dropped it to 395

I was originally actually planning on opening squat and bench at 500/300, but they felt heavier than I wanted them to today (still pretty ezpz but they would have been a very tough triple), so I just knocked like 8lbs or whatever off to be safe.

I don't know anyone with long arms besides myself and I can't do wide grip at anything near the weight I can get with a standard grip
How weak is it? Probably doesn't matter much either way. Don't bother doing light overhead pressing if you only do it recovery day just do a challenging weight you are unlikely to fail for prescribed reps x sets

Yeah, that´s what i am doing actually. I just don't seem to get better at it...
Also i tought giving it more priority (going 5x5 MO and 1x5 Fr every second week) will maybe help my bench.
On the other hand, i could just drop OHP altogether and do some submaximal spoto presses on my light day.
5'7 with pretty short arms (propably why my bench is my strongest lift).
If my bench fails, it is mostly pretty much at the bottom. I think i never had problems with lockout.

Yeah you probably would benefit from bringing up your ohp a bit. Stronger healthier shoulders will always help bench press go up. Triceps are the weakest link on bench and ohp for me so I get by with very little overhead pressing and keep my shoulders healthy with facepulls and cuban presses
Probably barbell, largely because of the difference in position during the lift (barbell is more elbows forward, DB is generally more elbows out).
That said, palms-in DB pressing is pretty awesome.

I'm coming back in about a week from an almost 2 month break, my squat is at 145, bench is idk 70 haven't trained it in a year, and deadlift is 160, at around 70kg. I'm looking for outside recommendations now as to how to best increase those numbers (70kg was a 5x5 bench, rest is 1rm) quickly and effectively. I like to squat frequently and pull frequently, don't really believe in overtraining or frying the cns. I like going for a daily max but I might stick to just 3 days a week, maybe build up to squatting and pulling 5 times a week. How can I best approach this?

Just roll it around then? my biceps crack when i flex them (as much as your fingers would if you cracked them) and every doctor i've gone to says they look fine. i just hope it's not fucked up. i don't think it is but that crack scares the shit outta me. i feel like if i actually streched and start doing my mobility shit and generally move a lot it won't crack because it went away when i was stretching them every day.

yeah, to be honest, it feels more like it's stretched constantly. like if you put your arm straight out. it stopped hurting a lot time ago because i took time off but i know if i do what i'm supposed to it will get better.

Do some research via youtube, but yes, basically. Teres area with arm over head, then all around the rotator. It will hurt. If you feel your thumb tingling, you're doing it right.

Actually, I just googled it since I didn't realize strongman had so many weight classes, and at amateur levels there are almost as many divisions at there are in powerlifting, so he might be coming second in a field of two, so who knows.
