From what I hear, it isn't so much the aesthetic is bad (because it isn't) so much as it is relatively cheaply built. less than Jansport quality for higher prices. Proceed with caution, but cop if you like it because it is big and you can fit all your books in it as well as your sandwich and passport :)

you can still get smaller daypacks at reasonable prices, like

I don't see why you would want to pay for any of those when you can get pic rel (the modern version of the pack) from literally any milsurp online worth the the name for less than a Herschel.
