I probably won't comment much because this event is just zzzzzzzz
>>93666377
So when's Age of Apocalypse?
That guy likes killing underground monsters a biiiit too much.
>>93666546
1995, and we're in 1988, so... yeah. It's going to be a while.
>AAARRRGHH
Typical telepath.
>>93666577
So the next one is Mutant Massacre?
>>93666618
We already did Mutant Massacre (it's the first X-over, natch), next one is Inferno.
>>93666673
So demon time with Scott's pissed off ex-wife.
>You can't tell the males from the females
Which is why Fraction's transgender Moloid was so ridiculous.
>>93666748
Didn't Fraction do well while writing Iron Man?
>>93666694
Eeyup.
>>93666775
Well Scott sucks with women.
This is going to be a very nasty divorce/custody battle.
>>93666771
I dunno, I've never read an Iron Man book in my life. The transgender Moloid was from his FF, an otherwise pretty good book.
And really, it's nothing personal, I'm pretty much a stinking ess jay double-u, but when something doesn't work, it just doesn't.
Oh boy, Grotesk, now that's a fucking throwback and a half.
>We all look alike to him
How racist!
>>93666904
To be fair they kind of do.
>>93666748
I dunno, doesn't that make more sense then?
>>93666577
>tfw you realise it look like 3 years for AoA to make it to your country
Well gee, I dunno Jean, maybe it's the one Moloid that's not wearing just a loincloth?
Oh yeah, Beast is dumb now, because ANGST!!
>>93666984
I just thought it was boring how Fraction defaulted them to a male/female society, even though there are no visible differences between a male and a female Moloid, so all you're left with is the almost parody-like image of a Moloid wearing a dress.
Like, I get it, it's inserting modern sensibilities to one of Marvel's oldest species, but couldn't it have been done a bit less... I dunno, hackneyed?
I kinda like Apocalypse with a helmet.
Ah yes, remember the olden days when people would just. Not. Shut. Up during a fight?
>>93667288
I believe that's called banter.
>>93667303
I mean, there's banter and there's having a long winded conversation about the possibilities and ramifications of evolution while punching each other in the vacuum of space... actually, that sounds kinda fun so nevermind.
>>93667354
Honestly I just want slice of life stuff about random mutants.
>>93667132
OK, I getcha now. I found that image kinda funny-sappy, not necessarily bad, but I understand where you're coming from.
>>93667354
I do feel like if you're gonna pick two villains who do that, Apocalypse and THE are up there.
>Marvel didn't use this cover
wtf
>>93666377
Is that Apocalypse beating up the High Evolutionary?
I'm pretty sure you're the only one who cares about that little detail, John.
>>93667930
Yes, actually.
Somebody get these kids an iPhone!
>De-furred him
Jesus Hank, I knew you were into some kinky shit but there's some lines we just don't cross, man!
>Isn't he adorable?
Must... resist... gay... joke!
this art is rough
when does it become badass
>>93668214Next storytime, when Adams comes along
>And Scott and Jean are together... at last!
Don't remind me. Barf.
>much worse
Oh, you don't know the half of it!
Now, time for a big-ass info dump as I skip most of the annuals because they're just filler!
Next up is a Punisher annual. Basically, Frank fought a giant robot or some shit and took down a drug cartel. That's about it.
>>93668279
sweet
>>93668355
annuals are fun though
>>93668535
Yeah, but this is the Great X-Men Storytime, not the Great Let's Torture X-Anon By Making Him Storytime a Whole Bland Event Storytime ;^)
But on all seriousness, the only reason I'm not doing the whole thing is because
A) I want to get it over with quick so we can get back to our regular X-books
and B) because most of these parts are really unimportant, it's just a bunch of characters fighting a High Evolutionary henchman or something like that. The Avengers annuals are important though, so I'm not skipping those.
>>93668103
You wanna turn em into millenials?
>>93668692
At least millennials don't run around your ship, blowing shit up and such. Sometimes, apathy has its advantages.
Now the Silver Surfer annual, where... I dunno, some shit with the Eternals and the Super-Skrull that goes nowhere.
>>93668736
They're doing exercise for fun, unlike millenials or weebs
>>93668780
All I know is that I was asked to babysit my cousins once and thank Christ for smartphones because every time they weren't playing Clash of Clans or whatever, they were acting like crazed monkeys.
Now back to a proper annual storytime with THESE assholes again!
It's nice to see that you care.
Young mutants playing in the Danger Room, Magneto throwing a fit, Bobby angst... just another day at Xavier's!
Oh yeah, and Amara having the worst taste in boys ever, natch.
Geez, she's just a teenager, ya creep.
>>93668957
Magma, the character so boring no one bothered to kill her off.
I swear I've seen Emma's getup before, I just can't remember where.
>>93669207
>engagement is a punishment for Illyana
You should try telling them to USE their powers while you're gone, Mags.
"Hey, remember that time one of us totally died because we disobeyed our headmaster?"
I'm sure this will end wonderfully.
>>93669513
Maybe they have some kind of suicide pact or "dead pool" if you will
Illyana "Just Dump 'Em In Limbo" Rasputin
>>93669617
I don't agree with her immigration policy but I do agree with her national defence policy
>>93669370
Worse they stuck her in a relationship withEmpath
>>93669739
President Magik, now that's one hell of a pitch.
Hey c'mon now, Alien wasn't THAT scary!
>>93669777
Truly, only the dead can know peace from that evil. Lucky trips confirm.
>>93669828
The concept is, parasites are fucking horrifying let alone one that comes out of you grows to human size and then bleeds acid when you hurt it.
>>93669865
> Lucky trips confirm.
Clearly I'm Roulette
Wow most of the Hellions sucked huh?
>>93669887
I just don't think a movie monster is "greatest fear" material.I'm just taking the piss.
>>93669828
>>93669887
>>93669949
Alien is an allegory for rape and involuntary pregnancy
>>93669926
I think the ones that got killed off had potential, ironically enough. Maybe except for Roulette, she did kind of suck.
So glad you're back. /co/ isn't /co/ without X-Men storytime
The hell are you wearing, Shaw?
>>93670052
Haha, thanks mang.
>>93670061
I think it's supposed to be a sash over trunks it just got colored all the same
>>93670173
I think it's colored correctly. He is the white king after all
brb
>>93670188
I mean he doesn't wear all white all the time, not like Emma.
Alright, let's finish this first part.
Pocahontas. Really now.
I know this is supposed to be humorous, but the writing and art really don't click for some reason.
Time for some more story lessons with Uncle Gru!
Now onto the Fantastic Four annual, where the High Evolutionary tried to steal some Terrigen Mist... so you-know-who got involved.
And finally, the first of three Spider-Man annuals tying into this event!
BOVA LIED
MUTANTS DIED
That's it for now. Next time, we wrap up the Evolutionary War! Also, Art Adams and X-Babies! Be there!
>>93666577
Quick thoughts
I miss Franklin, Caliban is dead, and Emma was less of a moustache twirling villain in the late 80s than in present day Marvel.
did anything good get published today btw?
>>93670095
could Emma shoot laser beams here like in the Konami arcade videogame?
>>93666481
>>93666503
>>93666529
Shoemaker's doing a good job aping Simonson here.
>>93666577
>superheroes helping to rebuild battle sites
I miss comic books.
>>93666875
I kinda feel lousy that Desu imploded just as I was starting to work through the ANAD X-era.
It remains a large gap I've only read spotilly.
>>93667048
Could be worse, he could be betraying the X-men to anyone giving an offer.
>>93666645
Wait, this bit of X-Factor had them actually using Ship? That's awesome.
The New Mutant Annual is interesting since it's the last time the Magma/Hellfire Club subplot came into play before Louis abandoned it entirely and Fabian N then shitted all over it and rendered Magma radioactive and damaged goods.
Also why is the FF annual here? The only tacit connection is Quicksilver and I don't think OP posted any of the storyline leading up to this (the infamous Quicksilver goes evil character derailment storyline Englehart wrote and editorial eventually deep-sixed).
Also, are the Hellions still alive? I know they got brought back to life in Necrosha and IIRC later reappeared in the final arc of the late 00s New Mutants series. Are they still running around as techno-organic beings?
>>93674821
>Also why is the FF annual here?
It's not, OP only posted the back-up.
>>93670801
What did you think was gonna happen, Dani?
>>93674185
Yeah, Ship was on the team.
Before the whole ProfessorX/Danger thing the X-Men had a great record with their treatment of A.I. lifeforms.
>>93674821
All the Necrosha "survivors", like Blink and Doug, were never fully listed so as to allow future writers the choice to retcon a needed specific character back to life whenever a story called for it, or if worse came to worst: easily explain a continuity mistake.
