We're smack in the middle of Lobster Johnson territory now.
>>91369111
So why is he called Lobster Johnson?
>>91369407
During his time as a pulp hero he wasn't called Lobster Johnson, just The Lobster. He wasn't called Lobster Johnson until after his death when people started making comic books and crappy luchador movies based on him.
>>91369407
Here's a great article that talks about it

Well that's unexpected
>>91369837
Wait if the Lobster was so big that even the police would try to arrest home why'd why'd did they deny his existence later in Hellboy
>>91370048
Because of the comic books and movies. People just assumed he wasn't real

>Not having a gun on him
This has bit that idiot in the ass like three times now.
>>91370519
You know he's research could've worked if I dunno he tried doing it legitimately instead of illegally like a Lunatic

my favorite issue.
Zonjic is god-tier.
And that's it for now, I gotta run some errands and I'll be back in a bit for some more threads.
Bump. I hate the lobster for the same reason people hate the punisher. But dammit if the serious isn't still good

Bottom panel reminds me of that batman cover

Cold blooded.
Okay I'm all caught up. What I don't get is why these Lobster Johnson stories haven't been collected in a trade yet.
>>91369705
The speed at which he lost control of his operation to that little guy is astounding.
>>91369915
Oh yeah...
Isn't this guy, somehow, the most tenacious Lobster villain in the series?
>>91369992
...we DO know that there are human shamans capable of assuming animal form, and that it is passed down through lineage.
And I've been wondering, since this pirate story got introduced, just how close it hews to the Lobster's origin. Honestly, I'd be okay with him having no concrete origin story, but his ghost is... abnormally powerful. Some explanation might be nice.
>>91373309
Yep like the girls ancestors in the abe story when he is in Yuma, and another character that I don't want to ruin in bprd
Hey, so as someone that's only really read the first 3 Hellboy TPB's and nothing else, is there a suggested way to read through the mignolaverse? Would chronologically through these threads be a good idea for my first time going through, or is there a generally good order in which to read things through? I just have really wanted to get into everything but don't know what order I'd need to go through.
>>91370349
The fuck is his deal?
It's strange enough he could get a hold of the Black Flame, but everytime he does something like this, I'm left wondering if I missed some reveal about him.
>>91370413
The first war-ape.
Klempt is a hack.
>>91373541
There's a suggested reading order on this site, somewhere: http://www.multiversitycomics.com/tag/mignolaversity/
I'm sure someone has the info graphic too.
The chronological read is really for after you've consumed most of the "universe," to see what sort of patterns emerge and coalesce.
It does work surprisingly well as a single narrative, but it also... colors how you view certain events. Gives you the secret origin of the world, and so on. Also tends to get hyper focused on a single plot element, like the Ogdru, the Hyperboreans or even the Vril, which may leave you sick of a subject before it moves on.
In other words: I don't suggest doing it the first time, but if you don't have other options, then it's not an awful idea.

>Posting a picture during storytime
OP better be starting a new thread.
>>91374353
I will be when I get home. There isn't enough files left and I don't like splitting stories between threads.
>>91374314
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
>>91374353
Yeah sorry about that, my bad. Thread seems like it's getting close to the image limit and I just kind of spaced out before posting.
