I dunno, it seems like you have to have some feelings for each other, and you need to be mostly in synch to maintain it.

So fusions like proto Garnet probalby don't last too long and only stayed as long as they did since they were both feeling vulnerable, alone, and afraid.

So besides fusions being taboo to homeworld, they probably can't cultivate natural warmongers that aren't same gem fusions because you need a functioning relationship for that.

If forced fusions become a thing, expect horrible monster screaming protogarnet type monsters, maybe even a last ditch diamond monstrosity forced fusion.

she realizes that as a warrior who lost Homeworld is just gonna shatter her if she comes crawling back. She tries to suicide bomb the temple so that she can at least die with honor but Steven talks her down until she falls to the ground crying.

She mopes around for a while, and Pearl gets the idea that a good fight might lift her spirits so she 'accidentally' unbubbles a bunch of gem monsters while the others are away and asks her to help.

After clearing them all up, Pearl accidentally lets slip that it was intentional. At first Jasper is angry that a lowly Pearl took pity on her, but admits that she appreciates the gesture

She talked to Ruby. Ruby pieced together the prediction from what Sapphire said. Rewatch it. Sapphire implies that she knows she will get poofed. It's at the moment that Ruby figures that out that events deviate from Sapphire's prediction.

Garnet and Sapphire predicts multiple outcomes, but telling people complicates it. That's why she didn't forsee Steven freaking out about it. She knew it was a possibility and she knew even less about what would actually happen because of telling him.

On the third point, beyond the fact that's simply what you took away from the episode, Garnet said it herself that love at first sight doesn't happen. It takes time. There was no love in the very very beginning. Even if you wanted to think there was, you could argue that it was love that allowed Ruby to understand what Sapphire predicted without being told. It's kind of like how the dude in Interstellar loved his daughter and therefore understood that his daughter could piece together all the information he was sending her.
