>>64250267 That's not trans that's just some casual crossdressing. Like if a little girl dressed up like Captain America we'd say she's cute or how she's finally looking up to someone cool but if a boy dresses up like Wonder Woman we'd gag at all the acne that's covered their backs. Why does a six year old even have backne. I don't know. I made him up a second ago. He has a hard life so fuck off.
>>64250364 it would be a lot easier to understand what they hell the point is if they didn't draw themselves as a lion, (and female lions don't have manes, what kind of lion furry doesn't even know that?)
>>64250393 >Autism Speaks needs to shut the fuck up and let us speak for ourselves! All this image is missing is being a furry >I dislike anthro/furry work oh well now colour me surprise I guess furries are too autistic for this aut
>>64250339 I agree with you on the variety thing. I have found myself envious that the variety of clothing a woman can wear is much larger than what a man can wear. I don't think I'd want to wear a skirt, but I would love to have more options.
>>64250339 >>64250592 As a kid I always thought it was unfair that girls could wear pants and shorts while boys can't wear skirts and other girl's clothing. In fact some people find i charming for a girl to dress like a guy but the reverse certainly isn't true.
>Being a progressive >Loving a state with absolutely dispicable foreign policy and that commits human rights abuses with impunity
I bet this guy thinks that the USSR was true socialism, too.
>>64250467 I personally think that gender is partly based on biological sex differences, but that societal norms amplify those differences in positive-feedback loops, which creates a lot of the gendered constructs we take for granted as natural.
So, I don't see being "trans" as really a real thing, but I don't care because trans people can do what they want, so it doesn't matter to me if they see gender as such a real thing that they deeply feel that they are the "wrong" one. Plus, there's the Thomas theorum. "Things that people believe are real are real in their consequences." Because we treat gender as real, it affects us as real, so it's real enough for a trans person to feel they need to switch genders, I guess.
You said it yourself, transsexual. Not transgender.
Gender is a sociological term that refers to male/female as defined by society, hence social construct. Sex is a biological term that refers to penis/vagina and the associated chromosomes therein. Obviously, since society defines males as having penises and women as having vaginas, that means that the two are, in practice, no different. But that doesn't make them synonyms.
I get that. but if gender is a social construct (as sjw believe) then why do transexuals always want to do activities and dress as the opposite sex.
like why does a dude that wants to be a girl at a young age gravitate towards dresses, make up and girl things if society is the one that dictates what girl things are and they aren't just naturally more drawn to things girls like?
the doesn't make any sense for one to jold both opinions
Transsexual and transgender are two different things. A woman born with a dick or that goes through sex change surgery is a transsexual. Someone whose transgender would be someone who identifies as the gender opposite of what society would dictate they are.
To be a transsexual, you have to have some kinda sexual difference, be it through sex change or just being born with a fucked up biology. Someone whose transgender would be more like someone whose biologically a woman but dressed up as a guy and tells people they're a guy. The gender they identify with is different than the gender that would normally be identified with them. Gender being a matter of identity while sex is a matter of biology.
I find it amusing that these comic people say transexuals fall under the feminist movement, even though their entire belief and way of life contradicts feminist gender theory. >as if it wasn't contradictory already
>>64250734 Its to make a point that the author still looks male though she's making a halfass effort to look female, but if he drew himself as an ugly guy with a beard the message might be lost because people would just laugh at the comic
that stuff is biological. Men and women are naturaly attracted to certain things and engaging in particular activities, in addition their are certain activities that genders are more likely to engage in. i suggest you watch the norweign documentary brainwash http://www.dailymotion.com/playlist/x1xv47_BrainwashingInNorway_hjernevask-english-subtitles/1#video=xp0tg8

Because we treat gender as real, it affects us as real, so it's real enough for a trans person to feel they need to switch genders, I guess. Excellent way to put it and I agree. Its why, even as an atheist, I don't dislike religion if it affects people in positive ways and leads them to do positive things. Truth be told I'm jealous of them but I just don't see what they see. Its like I'm like an extra in one of the dozens of shounen mangas where the MC can see ghosts.
>>64251067 LGTB stuff didn't really become part of the feminist movement until the second- and third-waves. Early feminists were pretty homophobic and transphobic (some are still very transphobic). Second-wave brought in lesbians, and third-wave brought in trans people.
Yes, most streams of feminism (not all) agree with the social scientific research that illuminates the difference between sex and gender. I don't see how that invalidates being transgendered.
Like already discussed, we treat gender as so real that it's consequences are real. As a result, if people feel that they are the incorrect sex or gender, just telling them "gender's a construct anyway" isn't much help to them. They live in a society where it's real, so if they feel that they would be more comfortable being the other gender, I don't see why that isn't a logical option for them, given the society that they live in.
>>64251339 because if you read the picture you would know that it is impossible for them to know that they feel like they are the wrong gender/sex.
They have never not experenced what it was like to be themselves. If we also take the given that a person's gender is a unchanging thing. Than it is impossible for any to ever know what it would feel like to be a gender that is not your own.
>>64251339 Feminism recently tried to co-opt atheism too with "atheism+" but after they got rejected atheism and fedoras have been the next anti-christ to them.
I think they also co-opted the whole 99% issue that was a big deal a while ago which resulted in the protests quickly becoming unorganized and disbanding because all the racists and misogynists couldn't agree with "progressive stacks" and other such organization structures.
