It was all we had, the con itself was super shitty.

I thought the con was pretty fun after I got the layout of the area. They need a lot more content to fill up the time and I was a bit disappointed everything started to shut down around 11-12 (ie Karaoke). But parties were good, lots of food options, lots of places to spread out so its not too crowded. ALA did a good job and just needs to work out the kinks for its growth.

I'm a bit sad its not small anymore though. It felt like a mini Fanime this year.

Andrew was the biggest fucking bro. I'm inclined to make Andrew award ribbons for next year for anyone I catch helping people out.

Well ALA is planned to be there for two more years at least so I'm assuming they have a contract. Radissons are known for being rundown party hotels anyway. Kinda like a step up from a motel six. From what I heard a lot of rooms had issues before congoers even got there. I'm just wondering if people got charged for the damages? I'm not sure if the staff didn't care or if they just didn't know how to handle such a huge situation.

Staff member here! None of us were alerted to the damages and shit until literally Thursday morning. Apparently, some dumb shit on the 1st floor hung his jacket on one of those 'do not pull' water spouts and it flooded 36 different hotel rooms in the hallway. Now that I am home and got a nap in, time to recap the con.
-Tough Crowd panel on day 0 went great, but had a bad time slot
-Cgl meetup had to be located last minute due to the pool being locked off, but it worked out great in the Raddison Lobby. Great turnout, gave away over half of my "Sloshed Seagull" ribbons just at the meetup.
-3080 tripfag party room aka the Relapse Retreat went great, got to party with a bunch of people including a bunch of anons. My appologies to those who I wasn't able to bring over, ~25 people is the max I am comfortable with in the room before it becomes a sauna. I will host more parties in the future
-New con center is pretty sweet, though some of the hotels left a lot to be desired. No ice machines at the Ratchetson meant we had to go on ice runs everyday.
-Free fucking parking
-Jungle juice and space fireball sent many people to the shadow realm

Overall it was fun times, best con in a while and a great way to break in the new venue.

For what it's worth, our toilet flushed 1 out of 3 times. Our fridge didn't work and when it did it was very noisy. Con phones WERE down during the Farm party. No extra pillows for extra people (even though you did get a lot to begin with). No hot water Sunday morning. Elevator near the party rooms felt like the Tower of Terror on more than one occasion for me. Pool area closed way too early. Overcharged the room then got the charges removed was a hassle. I've got my complaints but honestly what kind of shitty ALA did people have to deter them from the Raddison so badly?

The Azures/Ayres was actually pretty nice. The rooms were spacious and had some nice amenities including a minifridge, a sink, a microwave and a single serve coffee maker. I was expecting much less. The only problem I had was our ceiling lights (not the one in the bathroom though) didn't work but to be honest- the lamps were really all we needed.

I honestly had a fucking blast, and I talked to you at least five times that con. However, my biggest issue was literally only in the form of "The Radisson". Every party was made fantastic by the people in each party. These various DJ's brought their own shit to the AssMadisson, they could bring their shit to any other hotel as well. The dudes bringing drinks, mixing drinks, serving drinks, and drinking drinks were the ones keeping that boozed up vibe rolling easy. The typical individuals were fun and easygoing, nobody was a stuck-up faggot who actually attended parties. The only thing they did right was ignoring most noise complaints, and even then, they shut down a number of parties.

My room did not have a fridge, the hotel staff ignored our Do Not Disturb signs two times and opened our door asking if we needed service, they didn't give us the keys we needed, and they didn't respond helpfully to any request we had for them. Not to mention our hot water was literally nonexistant on Saturday, but we just laughed and took cold showers while swearing loudly.

The Radisson needs to fix their shit up. I get that it was "our" dorm, but shitty service and maintenance is not forgivable just because it's up to us to have fun.

If you check out it takes them a while to actually check and clean the room, especially if you are doing it on the last day of the con when housekeeping is super busy. That usually buys you a couple of hours. If housekeeping come by you can tell them you are making trips to the car and will be out soon. The AMVs sounded terrible this year. The problem was either the speakers or the acoustics of the room overall. The award ceremony was held in a different room and sounded just fine.

I was part of two panels where we were almost screwed out of what was needed due to tech running out of items (these things were included in the panel description)

1. Tech had to scramble to find a converter box in order for an ipod to be plugged in for audio. When asked why, the staff said they simply ran out.

2. The Radison panel room had an old projector that needed a laptop with a VGA converter with tech was not informed of. This issue was resolved when Tech actually donated their laptop to the panel room.

The tech staff themselves were very helpful and hauled serious ass to get the issues fixed. However I hope that these comments get seen so that they're better prepared next time

First time coner and I loved this con even though it was mostly me people watching. But some things I wish there was more of would be more panels since it seem too lacking. There was so many rooms in the con and in the raddison that could of been used for panels.

I also wish there was more vendors and Artists in the AA since there was so much space to add more.

And desu, I wish Lab Zero was announced as guest since they had a panel on their games and if they were announced as guests, the panel could of gotten more packed.

And I wish the artist alley/dealer's hall didn't close so early since I believe 7pm is too early or atleast make Saturday have longer hours.

Lastly, I wish autographs were held in a room instead of the dealer's hall because it felt so weird being in there when we could of just used an empty room for only autographs.

But congrats to the people running the registrations because that went by so fast on Saturday when waiting for my friend.

I was the one who set up Lab Zero to come to ALA, and a lot of it got solidified at the last second with them wrapping up Indivisible and their personal work/office situations. Also with their further ventures on Indivisible and how things go for them this year, it might be something to look into if they're interested in coming back and showcasing more of the game.

As for the dealer's hall hours, Saturday it was open from 10-7 which is 9 hrs total. It's already dark out by the time the hall closes.

In regards to autographs, i'll note it and propose it to the team and see if there's another place to host it.

Yeah, that happened, but people should know not to take drinks from strangers or leave their drinks unattended. It's the same as any bar/club. Even without considering drugs, you don't know what the alcohol content of the drink is, and some people just don't handle certain types of alcohol well.

I was there for the last 15 minutes or so of the SU panel. By the time I arrived he was on a segment talking about the sound design of the show and had clips from an episode that best exemplified how well utilized it was. After that concluded he had to skip past the next segment as he didn't have time left to cover it and was about to wrap it up until a staffer told him he had 10 extra minutes for his panel. Even then he wrapped it up early so as to let the next panel set up, when attendees came up to chat he asked them to meet outside so as not to disturb the incoming panel.

Another seagull relayed to me how when feminism was brought up a portion of the room got up and left. Having not been there I can't say how he presented the topic but the impression I got was he was well-spoken and informative. Having worked on panels staff at other conventions this dude seemed legit, guess I don't want to let the one comment I see here go unaddressed for what may of been a good panel after all.
