"An interesting article in a science magazine...philosophy....politics..."

Arse. You'd turn /b/ into an online chatroom for the Readers Digest. /b/ is shit, has always been shit, with occasional genius. You don't get genius in the Readers Digest. The NSA, CIA, fucking WhatHaveYou don't need to make this place shit, we do it.And we make it brilliant. Occasionally.
>>
Paranoia btw.
>>
>>551220574
Posts about freeing your mind then tells someone who doesn't share his viewpoint to GTFO. You sad sack, you have no fucking idea what this place is about.
>>
>>551218995
I AGREE TOTALLY

Something is going on on /b/ and someone is making it shittier.
It's not just trap threads though.
It's ALL of the porn threads, copy pasta threads, bait threads, and just shitty threads. Like that guys said "threads for triggering insecurity, threads for numbing emotional response to tragedy and threads for confusing sexuality"
I don't think trap threads were the downfall of /b/
All the shit posting and porn was.
Now newfags see the /b/ as it is now and perpetuate it because that what they think /b/ is.
>>
I agree with the OP, we should all be ashamed. Anyone who disagrees isn't a real /b/rother. We're a goddamn joke.
>>
>>551221185
He didn't said any cons. He was just kinda annoying, and that pissed me of... of couse nobody has to share my viewpoint..
>>
>>551218995
Pretty interesting, but I think the issue with the actual /b/ is simpler imo. /b/ is more popular than before, a lot of people heard about that "edgy place or you can put porn/gore/etc with almost no limit", so now they're a lot on /b/ and the quality drops because that the only thing they think this imageboard is for. (sorr for my bad english)

tl;dr : newfags ?
>>
>>551218995
They post it here because nobody wants it anywhere else. /lgbt/ is a sfw board. It's like ponies but it doesn't piss as many people off. You're making a mountain out of a mole-hill.
>>
The OP's point here is to post our own OC all the time and don't just lurk letting the shit threads be the only thing on the page ! /b/ will never be what it was but don't let us sit here defeated !
>>
This anon doesn't understand that dissidence isn't a good thing.

People like him forget that, without a coherently powerful and overruling government, there is no social security, no society, etc. They have the naïve idea that social revolution can ever exist apart from society itself. He fails to realise revolution is only ever possible where there is first the safety net of society below it.

Dissidence is not good. It's parasitic.
>>
lol at this fucking fag.

/b/ as always been shit. always. if you think there was a time where /b/ was ever good, you can fuck right off.
>>
>>551222057
This. The conspiracy thing is kind of bs, but if you lurk often the guy in OP's discussion is right, there is a clear pattern of repetition and dysfunction.
>>
the real OP's message is, that we should stop lurking and shitposting, and shoud start threads if something interesting comes into our minds, like political things or even spiritulal stuff
>>
Besides this place is full of beta fucks that have social problems. Traps are a vaild compromise in their mind. Gore has been around since the beginning so I don't know what you're going on about as far as that goes. Some people enjoy these things, you don't, that's cool, but this isn't your board, so shut the fuck up and go somewhere else if you don't like it.
>>
Read it all, it's just baseless conspiracy fags.

Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that somebody, somewhere in a position of authority has tried to manipulate /b/ and the internet in general, but I really doubt it's a case of

"Lots of cock rate threads? Must be Government!"

People credit governments with too much, when their forms of manipulation are so much more obvious, you just have to look at the impoverish side of society for a microcosm of society as a whole.

Crack whores for example, man looking to exploit her gives her 'free' drugs to get her rolling. She gets addicted, needs more and more until she's selling herself for sex to fund the dependency.

Now look to modern governments, they give handouts and welfare to the most poor, loans to the not so poor and subsidies and tax breaks to the rich. Every level of society becomes a crack whore. And that's just taking a really simplistic and over generalised approach.

Regardless..

Do governments manipulate their populations? Yes.

Are governments responsible for cock rate threads and trap threads? Kek.
>>
>>551221839
I've been saying this for a long ass time.

I started a few threads about the outrageous end of net neutrality and noone posted or gave a shit.

I urged people to write to the FCC and pressure them to get the courts to rule in favor of them but I'm sure noone did it.

The internet is our domain. If we can't get off our asses to help save it, we can't do anything.

Here is a link to the FCC comments page.
http://www.fcc.gov/comments

>>551220873
The thing is though it wouldn't be a Readers Digest discussion.

It would be dialouge by /b/ and the opinions and viewpoints on certain things noone could say without being anonymous.

You've essentially spewed out an argument I heard Bill O'Reiley give.

The NSA or whoever in the government could manipulate all of /b/ and 4chan with a couple part time employees and a few computers.
>>
>>551222832
See, it's working
>>551223190
>>
>>551222297
The more people shitpost, the more people will see those threads, so they'll take it as the subject of /b/ and do the same, like a "sheep" effect.
I'm lurking /b/ since 2005 or something like that, so I can see the issue, i'm not paranoid enough maybe and I might be wrong.
Anyway, happy to see that some /b/ro take their time to investigate.
>>
>>551222631
I'm not sure too if the government is the origin of the cock rate threads, gore etc.. but the fact is that 4chan is a pain in the ass of the government, because here changes can happen very quickly like the Anonymous movement. I found out that Anonymous was made in 4chan. When I came my first time to /b/ i just couldn't believe it because of the mass of shitpostings.

thing is, most people that come to this site go through 2 phases. first, they come to /b/ exclusively and when they get tired of shitposting and redundant threads, they go to other boards. then, they find their new homes on these boards. for me it's pretty much /v/, /int/ and /tg/, but I rarely browse them now. as I mentioned, I come to /b/ pretty much only for steam threads. it's just like it is

Pretty much this. Only reason loli is here is cause there is no pedophilie board. Only reason trap threads are here is cause LGBT is safe for work etc
>>
>>551218995
With the previous bump, basically /b/ will never be the same. It has seeped more out into public hands where 13-15 year old post shit that makes no sense. Yes this is the random image board but still. If there was some way to make it where you were only allowed to enter if you were 18+, this site might get back its old and gold title. But since this is the Internet, there will always be ways for the younger minds you get in through the cracks. Unfortunately /b/ is dead, and it will probably stay that way.
>>
>>551228219
Actually many of those things used to have their own boards. Nobody on /b/ even knows that there are other boards though which is a big part of the problem.

>>551228035
Mods are in a tough position because this is the random board after all.
You are allowed to post just about anything besides CP and pictures of spilled glasses of chocolate milk.

I don't think this is the mods fault.

I think we just need to sage and call out shit posting threads to make sure noone else posts in them.
"THIS IS A BAIT THREAD. THIS IS PASTA. THIS IS A SHILL BOT THREAD. DO NOT REPLY, NEWFAGS."

Something like that
>>
>>551228219
>>551228469
Gore, loli and fur aren't the problem

The problem is all the automated board sliding threads and copy pasta shit post threads flooding the board so there is no new content.

Pic related I think
>>
This has opened my eyes. Even if I feel like the conspiracy theory is bullshit, we can do better - and 4chan in it's current form has a negative impact on my life. Maybe I'll attempt to post decent OC, maybe I'll leave, but it has taken this to make me realize something has to be done.
>>
>>551228790
That was the past when shitty fucking memes didn't exist or at least weren't used as much. Now they are just regurgitated over and over to try and get a chuckle out of someone which just ends up getting an angry response.
>>
>>551228381

Thanks for posting that, i don't have anything saved to post about it.
>>
>>551228828
By "random" it does not mean "anything goes". It means that if you have content that can't go on any other board, you post it here. The mods are ENTIRELY at fault. They are not doing their jobs. They do not delete threads that are against policy even when reported. The only things that they do is abuse power and delete CP.
>>

>>551221425

Anyone ever thought of setting up a new forum.. Like getting a server in a different country so laws do not apply and the server onset cannot be found.

make a truly anonymous server where you are allowed to post anything.
I feel like that is the easiest way to get around this. Just pop up new boards that skate around laws and allow the posting of whatever
>>

Porn is one of the main culprits of sliding potential new content or discussion from /b/

Mods ban people for absolutely ridiculous reasons. Not funnily like before where people got a laugh from it but just because they can now.

>>
>>551230924
I mean, you did technically break the rules but that is a pretty shitty reason to get banned.

Noone gets banned for that rule anymore.

But mods making some shitty bans isn't the main problem with /b/
>>
>>551230845
That's bullshit, though. Porn just picks up the slack. There is nothing worth seeing besides the porn, anyway. Any threads with actually interesting discussion get zapped by the mods.

That's because /b/ used to be a free haven. You could discuss anything here. That has changed, suddenly 4chan is thinking of its image for some reason. So questionable threads get deleted. All the porn and shitposting is just what's left when you can't discuss controversial subjects anymore.
>>

It is a major one since the way they act can heavily influence if people even want to bother being here anymore.

Also, this is a genuine question and not me being childish. How did I break a rule?

>>551232205

Anon, that is a stupid question and you know it. Ideally, they shouldn't delete ANY threads on /b/ except for shit like CP. If there's an interest, they will stay. If they are boring, they will be forced off.

The thing is, I thought they were good threads. I enjoyed them, there was real discussion going on, and generally I thought we might get close to the old feeling of /b/ where people somehow connect.

But they delete them. It's total horseshit. Sure, some of them might be a bit hateful, but this is fucking /b/.

I find it hard to believe anyone would try to refute what is being said. Try it yourself.

Browse the catalog and see what is top of page consistently. Then browse the bottom of the catalog, and see what pops up.

There is a giant divide, most interesting threads die out quickly while certain threads are same-fagged constantly. I'm talking every day many times on every board.

Examples. Boxxy threads, that weird hi stephanie thread, the stupid rate my wife with face in mirror, any trap thread, you laugh you lose, risk, cringe. Its all the same group of assholes self promoting the same shit.

It would make sense someone is getting paid to do it otherwise there are a lot of very OCD jerks posting the same shit every hour or two.
>>
>>551236420
They probably catch the cp fast because of stricter regulations and larger staff groups.

But think about it. You don't need a bot to do the manipulation. People, paid a couple dollars an hour for what amounts to trolling the web, would be able to do the same thing. And you don't need to program them. People are self programming. THey learn to be good at their job.
>>
>>551236420
I did see some CP the other day. I clicked on the image, because it seemed like a dwarf or some other freak fisting two women.

It was actually a little girl.
>>
>>551236771
As much as we'd all love CP to be allowed, that's pretty much the one thing moot has to get rid of no matter what. I don't hold a grudge against him or the mods for that.

>>551237001
Well, to be fair, the Boxxy/Chloe/Stephanie/etc. threads are tripfag circlejerks. Therefore the people posting them are by definition unpaid.

Risk threads are alright, I think, as /tg/ doesn't want them. I believe that our 4chan Cup representative was recruited from there after KS/b/ fled the board. Rate threads belong in /soc/ by definition, and mods need to get to work on them.
>>
>>551237069
To be fair I'd do it if they payd me
>>
>>551237167

You will always got some of it because of what this place is supposed to represent and the fact it's international.

However since those anonymous against pedophile threads were made it was obvious that they weren't simply regular people. A regular hacker would realize that CP serves as a very good canary in the mine for things like tor/freenet/lavabit and so on. They might be disgusted on a personal level but if I were them i'd happily take it to know what I was using was secure.
>>
>>551236420
If you report something as illegal, it has a higher priority than if someone just breaks the rules. That's why CP is deleted instantly. I tried this on a thread where anons were just breaking the rules, but I reported it as illegal. The thread was deleted instantly.
>>
>>551237561
I hate CP, I just noted how it gets deleted really fast.
>>
>>551237708
As would I.

But I'd also talk freely in my spare time about my job on anonymous image boards.

>>551237729
That seems like a good trick, but no way in hell am I ever using it. Whats something else highly illegal which isn't so immoral?
>>
What about yl threads
>>

>>

>>
>>551238108

Thats the beauty of it, they don't need to do it themselves as there will always be pedos who genuinely want to fap to kids so they don't have to do anything but observe the situation.
>>
We just have to make enough interesting threads and try to keep each of them alive. We'd need barely ten people to do that each hour. There are thousand of users, so it's not a big number. It's a pretty easy job.

We just have to do the opposite of what mods are doing, and try to attract people to interesting threads, thus making the board a smarter place. A thread should be made to remind of that, screenshoting every thread that gets deleted for being a good one as proof of what the mods are doing.
>>
>>551237561
meh, i think /b/ should be open to all threads (discarding CP), it's the people of /b/ who have to ignore rate threads and not the mods.
>>
>>551237729
The Anonymous shitposters in fact hail from an Italian Facebook group.

>>551238108
You don't have to view the CP per se; just the knowledge that it can be posted is an adequate canary. On 4chan, CP gets deleted in a matter of seconds = comprehensive control over what is and is not posted, even if that control isn't exercised. If needed, the mods could SHUT IT DOWN easily, as seen during Janitorgate.

I don't agree to the grand conspiracy theory (at least not for ALL of the trap, gore, fecal fetish, etc), but I do think that the generally accepted mentality of 4chan is counter-productive to the site becoming useful in any way whatsoever aside from personal entertainment.

The problem is that when people want to indulge the more primal/vulgar aspects of their nature, they are conditioned to come here rather than anywhere else because of the anonymity and infamy of 4chan.

After a while the only reason people use it is to be profane, and the entire culture around it becomes a profane circlejerk where doing anything else is perceived as negative or idiotic. You're not appreciated if you aren't trying to be edgy, or disgusting, or aggressive. The funnier and more vulgar you are, the more you are rewarded. People form entire personas online based on this and it even spreads to how they act anywhere on the internet.

The only way to change is to attract different types of people that aren't content with becoming fucking cavemen obsessed with their individual fetishes or just sexuality in general whenever they post on the board.
>>
>>551241169
This is why we have to make threads to change the outcome of /b/.

Could somebody write a good pasta? I'm not that good at writing and it sounds better from a native speaker..

Since I'm from Germany it would also be better if an American user reposts the screencaps because of the time zones.

Yes! The most important thing is that we should start interesting threats and keep people motivated.
But how can we take screencaps of threads that got deleted?
>>
>>551241169
As an expansion, /b/ really WAS decent at one time. The whole aggressive, offensive, intentionally stupid culture was only outward, to everyone that wasn't on 4chan. That was one of the biggest forms of getting OC and it still applies to a smaller degree, but now we get actual aggressive, edgy retards that are that way to everyone, rather than it just being a method of trolling. The entire board kind of just imploded on itself and went to shit.

I hate to say it but it's kind of inevitable for websites to have this happen.

A website gets notoriety for something so people go there for more of it and try to participate without "getting" what made it what it was.

I don't know the solution but I hope something comes up we can do.

here's the thing:

/b/ is where everyone goes on 4chan when they first hear of it. So we're not only the home of all the spammers and trolls, we're the home of all the newfags. I like to think of /b/ as a safety bumper for the rest of the community.

This means that actual /b/ denizens are something like the romantic frontiersmen of last century: survivers in a hostile environment with changing rules.

But thats just way to gay sounding, so I gotta post drow to reassert my sexuality.

You're not going to change it.

/b/ is on a plateau. We live in an age of even more digitalized market and world with social media from pinterest, reddit, and etc.

The distinction on /b/ or maybe 4chan is that oldfags, summerfags, whatever fucking fags, can post two radically polarized contents from all the gore, sexualized shit to the most boring dumb shit. The middle ground has been given to the rest of the digital world.

This is /b/ now. It's a shithole. It hasn't always been a shithole. People say that either didn't give a shit back then, bystanders, or whatever tools.

This is the reality.

The few who want to will not be able to because the masses are preoccupied with their short-term satisfaction, goals, and dumb shit they have in their lives (receiving a text, worrying about debt, partying, etc). This mass is all of /b/ because they are preoccupied with their own shit like safety, illegal activities, even if there is some fucking hacker out there (they are pussies with their own self-interest to worry about).

We are at the age of short-term gains, goals, and mindset. Selfish, narcissistic satisfaction that has arisen with the age of technology that shortens our patience and satisfaction discipline.

We no longer see the long term view for cultural changes for humanity or society overall in any terms of democracy, helping someone out, etc.

We are the last man that takes no risk, fosters an environment that doesn't promote growth of great individuals for great sacrifices for a greater humanity.

To completely deny that large corporations try & influence your thoughts is dumb. What do you think commercials are? Why do you think we had to create laws against tobacco companies advertising to children? Do you not realize that there are college classes that teach people how to use social media & the internet as a marketing tool?
Furthermore what makes you think that our political party system isn't a business? What makes you think that these businesses are above using anything at their disposal to further their agenda?

>>
Its true, /b/ has gotten petty, used to have porn and some cringe shit, but we also seemed to pay attention to shit going on in the world, now it's generally mainstream news that gets talked about if anything
>>
I was thinking about this a lot a while back. From what I see, /b/ kinda started to struggle two years back. The percentage of good threads took a huge downfall after the LulzSec episode.

Personally I feel like it's just the newfags. I found out about /b/ when I was 15 years old (born 1994 so still kinda newfag), but it feels like the people born within 1990 - 1996 are a special generation. We grew up a fairly traditional childhood, but got into technology while we could still learn like a child does. We appreciated the technology and abused it like no-one before. Then came the younger ones who have grown up with the technology all around them since breastfeeding, and they seem to lack the appreciation of internet. They see internet as a playground, and not as a tool for information, learning and communication.

Then newfags got completely brainwashed by the internet culture, without understanding the roots of it. At the same time, the whole media (music, movies, etc) went downhill and added up to the problem. Now we face a time where internet is filled with mentally handicapped teenagers whos only interest is being edgy while still being completely under the influence of our goverments and "mass hypnosis". They see all the intelligent conversations as nerdy bullshit, and only input they have to such conversations is trolling. This slowly rots away all the good threads, as the swarm of newfags steadily conquered all of /b/.

I don't really see a helping solution for 4chan. Everything good is just gonna fade away. I'm putting my hopes to onion network speeding up to a level where we can have imageboard which is fairly easily accessable if you have basic knowledge of this stuff. Then we will have the true anonymity and a board filtered off all the cancerish newfags.

traps have always been a part of /b/ culture, though.
>>
>>551255208
What you state is still a minority. Look at people your age, they're retarded. They aren't different from people born >96

Making interesting threads is the only solution, and it will work.
>>
>>551255793
Obiviously most of the people are retarded anyway. I was just talking about the intelligent minority that used to be a majority in /b/ years back.
>>
>>551256008
They are still lurkers like that. Look at how they're startled by my thread, and how they began posting. We just need enough threads to make them start some, and have a whole continuity. It's merely the law of causality.

>>551245486

i remember right after moot accepted all those mod applications this board was beautiful. there were mods swarming it and trap threads, furry threads, etc. were all deleted immediately. even though it was only for one night, it was probably one of the only times that there hasnt been a furry thread on the front page
>>
>>551258870
Traps threads, furry threads, gore threads etc. have always been a part of /b/, though. Just the amount of them has increased to a cancerous state.

What is a conspiracy?

I really recommend "The Net" by Lutz Dammbeck (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLqrVCi3l6E).

Don't get confused by the title it is about the Digerati.

We should really accept and reflect that irritation (pain) is the fastest way to growth AND that this is also true for things we really don't want to see.

>Please dig into this docu.

lol its the samefag person, you stupid nigger.

but yea i remember this thread that OP is posting caps of, and everyone in there was making fun of OP for being too retarded and newfag to realize that gore posts have only decreased since old /b/

and that traps have been around since the fucking beginning

hell even moot wants to be the little girl.

you need calcium to calcium to calcify, also your pineal gland is NOT a third eye.

also chakras are demonstrably false.

also also the star of david came from the hebrew shaktona, which predates the merkaba.

the merkaba came from the shaktona, actually.

because jews took acacia, and the dmt made them trip.

only they were retards, so they took their trips literally and started believing stupid bullshit (just like you and your new-age faggotry)

i bet you think crystals can heal with "vibration" and "Energy"

>state debunked speculation as fact.

If you don't have GOOD OC of gore and porn, don't fucking post.

I am very grateful for that pic. Been searching for it since 2008
>>
>>551269057
i agree to an extent... but you are still wrong and retarded.

i mean it shouldn't just be the same information repeated ad infinitum (or ad nauseum), but rather that repetition is just a mandatory facet of randomness

if it could never repeat, it wouldn't be random, would it?

This is an interesting thread though, and much friendlier than most of /b/

And yes we have a lot of new age optimistic sounding stuff, and innocence, but we're trying.. Anyway, those things make for happier conversation.

>This is an interesting thread though
not really.

making a complaint about a non-existent problem is hardly intredasting.

optimism and innocence is not really a problem (though not really suited to /b/), but really any religitardation is.

and that includes new-age twatteries

Posting in this thread because it actually isn't cancer. However, the bad content now flooding the site is far more likely caused by the current wave of low intelligence users than it is the effect of some conspiracy.

You really ought use your brain prior to posting. The shit content on this site is a problem for those who know what the place looked like prior to rubes like you began squatting here and misspelling words to try and sound funny. And that's the problem: you're not funny, kiddo.
