A little of both to be honest. The MC is a written character, however there will be choices that you can make which will effect both the story and the supporting characters.

We have developed a basic character relationship system, where each supporting character has a view of the MC as a number or percentage; with 0% being stranger and 100% being willing to be lovers/close friends in that sense. The choices you make will effect each character either positively or negatively. There is also a combat element to the game which in a simpler form mimics/is inspired by Sengoku Rance. The MC will pick up to 5 supporting characters in each combat setting, and their relationship improves when doing so. At certain milestones, character scenes unlock. There is also a perma-death system in place, thus leaving the player to make more choices as well.

I am also planning a possible dungeon like setting where captured foes in battle can be stripped down, tortured, ect. Should a character become broken, they may even choose to follow the MC as another supporting character; though this is just a thought at the moment.

In terms of variety, the game is based on an alternative WW2 like setting. Therefore there are all types, sizes, races and male/female genders in the game. There are currently no views on any kind of magic, or fantasy-like characters as this goes against our story.

The demo takes place in a small village, but even within that village there are a number of different people, types, ect.

This is a rough lineart sketch of the surrogate mother for example, the curviest of the female cast of characters in the demo.

The setting is low magic, so that means yes, there is, but very few people use it or know about it.

There is already a class named "mystic" that random NPCs can be, the idea is that these are the "mages" although of course right now that does little.

The idea for the future is that you can upgrade the tower either into an alchemy lab or a magic lab, and therefore either mystics or alchemsit have more impact

oh yeah, they are already there, although they are named sucubus they are just people transformed as everyone else. In the game the world was just populated by humans until the plague that started 5 years before the game starts, but some of the new "monsters" were named after the mythology, traditions, etc. that were already in place, specially if they fit the description (we had a rough "ancient history" of the setting, the idea is that in the past some alchemist also transformed themselves, which is why past descriptions sometimes fit these new transformations)
