As someone who commissioned her once and has spoken to her on multiple occasions, she technically is a "fake". To clarify on that, she doesn't really seem to have much in the way of fetishes. She's cool with drawing anything that isn't gore or toddlercon, but that doesn't mean she's into all the stuff she draws.

That being said, she is polite, open to criticism, only charges $20 for full color/shading (as opposed to the bullshit Sketchman, RFS, and so on charge), and she is easy to work with. I will also say that she has definitely improved. She used to draw diapers that looked terrible and constantly used the same face. Her art now is considerably better, but it DOES still have some faults to it. Namely, she opts for the same/similar positions every time (notice her recent Hex Maniac and Miku images for example), and her diapers are more or less a copy/paste job (solid color edges, dots around edge, white center with a pattern).

I've noticed similar things, although I'm not super-bothered by that; improvement is a process, and it is pretty interesting to see how much better she's gotten with a number of things compared to when I first noticed her art, particularly in a niche where it sorta seems like a lot of people plateau early. There will always be things that need improving, but a next step of varying up her positions a bit and playing around with diaper patterns seems fairly likely to me.

Also, while there is the matter of "fake," she gets along just fine with people in the niche, what the fuck more do people want from her? There have been other artists that don't have the fetish that actively despised the people in the niche, like kisto-whatever her name was from what I've heard. On the whole I don't see a big problem with Merunyaa not being into the niche herself since she actually has reasonable prices for her commissions and is polite to people that are in the niche.

There's always something to criticize, but sometimes I feel like this niche gets into a self-defeating cycle with its content creators where some people offer legitimate criticism and others complain just to complain until they drive someone away.

She said a couple of people were commenting that her other shading style wasn't appropriate to use all the time (as in, it looked awkward on some stuff), so she's trying different shading styles. She said her usual style will still be used for Pokemon stuff for example (and whenever it's appropriate and matches the source material's style).

Western and eastern is dictated by style, not origin. A western artist can create eastern art and vice versa.

If it looks like anime/manga it's eastern, otherwise it's western, that's the general idea of the rule.
