That means it's shit. Probably has tons of removed content, including a lot of ecchi or licensed series.

When will something like Mangawatcher come around that actually gets updated?
>>
>>135917181
At my phone, I use Material Comic Reader.

At PC I'm defaulting to Faststone Image Viewer, but it can't read .zip volume tanks I downloaded from Madokami, so I have to extract first which is suffering.

I second this. This probably the most minimal program you can get, but still has all the features needed to read manga archives, and using it as default jpeg/png viewer on my computer.

But does anyone know if there is a good Honeyview equivalent for Android devices?

I sort of can't figure out where to go in my smartphone.
>>

Reading in bed is 100x more enjoyable than sitting in front of a computer. Being able to get updates without having to download each individual chapter is god tier, especially when you've read a lot of manga.

PerfectViewer is fairly lightweight and simple to use, just pop a .zip or .rar or .cbr into a folder then click scan and read, but also it has handy options for how you want your images displayed, even if half of them are inefficient and/or gimmicks.

But it solves this issue well since it can read .zip, .rar, .7z.
>>
>>135921526
Yeah so does every other reader in existence. That's not the problem.

The problem is any manga reader on the playstore generally has tons of removed series.

Licensed and ecchi stuff gets removed all the time from the playstore apps. Though using Zinbox right now it does look pretty decent.

Only a matter of time before it's removed entirely from the playstore though just like Managawatcher was.

Actually, my biggest gripe with phones is they are insanely slow at processing high resolution images with Lanczos or bicubic.

I have a 1,7GB artbook with 5000x7000 resolution images, and it would take anywhere from 6-10 seconds to even re-render the screen after you panned around the images just a bit.

MMCE. Loads huge archives super quick (I'm talking about archives that have 20+ volumes), can flip through different sections quickly thanks to the slider at the bottom, and clearly displays file name and page number out of how many pages in the folder/archive that's loaded. They're all really handy features to have if you happen to scanlate manga, but even if you don't, it's got a nice minimalist, but highly customizable style for how you load images, whether it's a 1 page vs 2-page mode, or whether you want to have it in continuous scroll mode, or a traditional click for next page.

Because you manually choose what source you use ie Batoto or Kissmanga etc. that's a loophole with the playstore because they aren't actually providing the ecchi and licensed.
Batoto and couple others are the ones that remove licensed, but not all the sources.

Do you mean one long scroll with no gaps between pages? As in it'll display page 1 and page 2 above/below?

I've been looking for a reader that does this for ages, similar to MPV on Sadpanda.

>>135922244
I'm not saying the sources removed or didn't remove the content. I know they do. I'm saying that most of the mangareaders on the app store remove the options to find content on their reader due to the playstore putting pressure on them. Mangawatcher didn't remove anything and had tons of different sources, and eventually got taken down due to license issues.

Perfect Viewer.

If bubbles are too small on your phone, you can click on them to make the program intelligently create a zoomed pop-up box.

If you want color, you can have it auto-color. Generally, if the manga's artist is good (Wolfsmund, Ubel Blatt, surprisingly Cheat Hero <generic ln title here>), then the auto-coloring looks like it was colored to begin with.

In fact, I want that feature on Honeyview....

Hox, this is more dependent on which archive type we're dealing with.

If it's .zip file on an SSD, then pretty much most readers will have the same speed. Whereas if it's .7z, it will read very slow.

(guys, don't use .7z for manga/image.
.zip is most ideal for manga
.7z is mosely ideal for everything else that isn't manga.)
>>
I decided to give MComix a try because of this thread. It's miles better than Windows Image Gallery, but I still can't read more than one .jpg from a .rar file and going through and manually putting all my doujins in seems like a huge waste of time.

But you're probably on the right track, perfectviewer is the program that looks like Honeyview the most on android. It's just not.... perfect yet.
>>
Manga Meeya which works good enough. You can scroll through it with a gamepad even when the window is inactive in case you want to multitask and I like how scrolling with the thumbstick. Only bad thing is it can't read really long filenames or certain characters like hearts which screws it up for doujins and hmanga.

Dayum, that's pretty neat. I suspect this feature is a real memory hog though.

Perfectiviewer is the right answer to his question, but the colorizing is a paywalled gimmick that requires an alignment of the stars to look remotely passable.

Manga is never as complex as actual woodcuts though, and I'm glad it's not because holy hell would that be a pain in the ass to clean without fucking up, much less redraw.
>>
>>135924195
I'm sure Perfect Viewer could be optimized to work better with Lanczos resampling though. It's not ideal in its current shape.
Most of the time these programs are maintained by individuals who don't have so many resources.

A couple of interesting things to note:
The free version can't open the 29MB image at all. Buuuut, the "Perfect Viewer Donated apk" version can.
Averaging and AveragingV2 are decently fast, but they are almost as bad as Nearest Neighbour in terms of reducing Moire artifacts.
Bilinear is really slow as expected, but does a decent job removing some of the Moire.
Bicubic and Lanczos is just painfully slow.

Now I'm not even sure which resampling method I should use.

Standard android photo viewer/gallery thingy when it works and Mango when the numbering is fucked, no reason to have anything else, I mean you tap to zoom and swipe to scroll it's not rocket science.

I guess these online readers are becomin increasingly popular. But they're not the way I prefer it. I think I'll stick with Perfect Viewer for now.
>>
>>135927384
You can do that in Aizoban
>>
>>135927556
I believe he means that he wants to download shit on his PC, then transfer to his phone and read it there.
If Aizoban can still do that, I'd also like to know how
>>
>>135927635
There should be an import option. I haven't used it but mangawatcher had something similar. You import from .zip or folder locations.

Hey Anon, I just tried something wacky. That 30MB jpeg image was actually openable in cyanomodgen's default File Manager.

I'm not sure which resampling method it uses, but it's pretty damn responsive when you pan around the image while zoomed in. I think it's even faster than Perfect View's ugliest resampler.

Does Manga Meeya have the same features as this + the vertical viewer

There is no reason why a larger image shouldn't be able to be downscaled for the purpose of browsing.

I read manga online because I couldn't care less about 2d monochrome drawings quality

My library is already organized and tagged. I've got over 6 years worth of reading history in there and everything is available in one program. I still don't see the problem with it, and it's not like I'm saying this is the only thing to use or anything.

I used to use Mangawatcher but recently it crashes so often unless I'm using the Mangawatcher2beta.apk

Lotta nice options, quick, and looks decent on my phones and tablets

does anyone know if MangaWatcher ver 2 ( https://bitbucket.org/_vadia/manga-watcher-public/issues/324/mangawatcher-version-2 ) works with Batoto?
Aizoban doesn't have Batoto as one of the sources

7z only is only slow with default compression settings. Add -ms=off to the compression command and it is the same as any other archive type.
I don't like how people disregard 7z because of this, even though it's the only non shitty patent free archive format, use it.

Is there a reason you use v2.4 Hox? I use v7.4. The unicode problem is easy to fix.

Is the guy that was comparing FMD to DDS here?
>>
>>135917181
Google, I usually search for "xxx online" and done.
>>
>>135936366
i'm wondering this as well. i've been using 2.4 forever now.
>>
>>135937136
I've used v2.4 and v7.4, as well as many of the other versions. v7.4 is definitely the best and most stable, although the actual program is still what I would consider beta. But hey, it still works.
The fact that MMCE works better in its stage compared to most manga viewers says something about it.
