>A series meant to poke fun at the concept of powerlevels and shonen clichés
>hurrr durr who would win, Saitama or Goku???
It's pretty simple once you understand the maturity of the average DBZ fag.
>Saitama's gimmick is that he can defeat every opponent in a single punch
>Goku is more or less the benchmark for strong anime characters, so inevitably someone states that Saitama could one punch Goku
>DBZfags, gnashing their teeth at every negative mention of their mediocre yet nostalgic show, flip out
>They take "muh universe destroying punches" at face value, yet casually shrug off that Goku got one shot by a mass produced laser ring
DBZfags simply cannot stand the thought of Goku being dethroned. Even Beerus only exists as an obstacle for Goku to eventually overcome. It is the same reason as why DBZfags flipped their shit over the Death Battle versus Superman: it's what happens when a man who breaks all limits meets a man who has no limits.
>A significant number of anime fans miss the point of a parody/deconstruction and treat it as if it were a serious example of the genre.
Nothing new to see here, folks. Move along. The exact same thing happened to Evangelion, and Sailor Moon, and Slayers, and every other well done parody that wasn't an outright slapstick farce.
>they even have rankings
Ranks in OPM matter about as much as power levels in DBZ. They only exist to show that the entire concept is bullshit. Otherwise King and Genos would be many times stronger than Saitama.
Due to the anonymous nature of the board, one person can create a poor quality discussion in one thread and then complain about the same poor quality discussion in another thread, all in an effort to disparage a particular fanbase.
>Ranks in OPM matter about as much as power levels in DBZ
Is that supposed to be a good thing?
>Otherwise King and Genos would be many times stronger than Saitama
Did you miss the part where i said it didn't apply to Saitama? Actually i also forgot about King so you're at least right on that.
it's a combination of shonen, western comics, and a commentary on the japanese workplace
Because in all honesty, other than BnHA, I can't think of any actual superhero manga, with the costumes and everything
>and a commentary on the japanese workplace
I hadn't even thought about that, but now that you mention it makes perfect sense.
>The lowest class salarymen are constantly pressured into performing on a regular basis, often doing the work nobody else wants to do
>On higher levels you're bullied into some sort of group or you're a social outcast with no hope to ever grow further within the company
You honestly think that Superman is written as a man with no limits in the comics? Is this what the general public thinks? Because it's wrong. He gets his ass kicked all the time. Not something you'd expect from a guy with no limits.
So like, is Saitama the villain in the show? I mean it seems like the whole time I watch it, I'm rooting for the villain. I see a new villain and I think to myself "is he going to be strong or a jobber? Will this guy push saitama's limits further than the last guy?"
I find particularly interesting how everyone has this larger than life backstory, especially the villains, as it means something before Saitama punches a hole in them. Really shows how much of a filler that kind of storytelling is.
For that matter, am I the only one who got bored with the Garo vs Metal Bat chapters? I do love those characters but it went for so long to the point it isn't exciting, and it's played pretty much straight. I'm sure it would be better if it was animated though.
Finally someone gets it.
Sadly the anime community will always be plagued by a large, vocal group of idiots who can't see beyond the shonen cliches.
Ah well, it doesn't stop me from enjoying OPM for what it is.
Well yeah, it's a deconstruction of a shitty genre.
Nah, ever since Garou entered the story it's been a generic shounen and not a parody. It was funny but not anymore. Now it's just boring. The pace has been fucked up completely because Murata can't draw fast enough.
It is no longer a "deconstruction" because it has become what it was parodying: a shitty, generic shounen.
>faggots start spamming threads about saitama being the new accelerator/demonbane
>another batch of faggots reply
>now the first group faggots can't handle what they created
The sad thing is that this was predicted.
Stop. Its a comedy. Nothing more. Its also not as satirical as some of you claim.
>ever since entered the story it's been a generic shounen and not a parody.
In what way? If you think the manga as a whole was some mea nspirited "FUCK YOU" to battle manga then you might have been interpreting it wrong,. You guys tend to overblow the "parody" and "satirical" aspect of the series
What are you talking about, didn't you see how when Saitama bumped into Garou on accident and beat him in one punch, decounstructing the big bad guy trope. That shit was hilarious
>ONE openly answers questions regarding power levels
>Toriyama just goes "wut?" when asked
The concept of power levels is welcome in OPM outside Saitama. Not to mention OPM indulges in cliches as much as it pokes fun at them. OPM demonstrates pretty shallow self reflectivity common in anime/manga.
Of course it isn't meant to be mean spirited, but it is supposed to a comedy manga which derives its humour from parodying generic shounen. What else would it be? That was the original vision and that is what everyone praises it for being. It has fallen into the trap of losing sight of what it was originally mocking and becoming what it was lampooning.
I suppose therefore you could claim that it isn't a parody anymore, because it has completely failed in that respect.
I never said this. Its simply not a deconstruction. Are you basing this on what you heard from those falseflag" OPM" shitposters who kept praising it as "deconstruction" or " the 'x' of 'x' anime"? Those posts were mocking faggots like you. Not praising the series .
I don't get why it can't be both. OPM started as a napin doodle drawing, but developed to have really good fight scenes, but the core idea of it poking fun at the general tropes of fighting series has always been there and will still be a staple of OPM.
OPM really got popular because of Murata's art, at least in the west.
>B-but muh universe busting punch tho
Fanboys can't stand their overated Goku being beaten, remember the massive anal blast from Goku vs Superman? well Saitama vs Goku is another repeat of that
yeah, the redrawn version turn from shounen-parody to generic shounen thanks to Murata unnecessary fillers in garou's arc.
Why don't he directly goes to monster associaton story is a wonder...
>to a comedy manga which derives its humour from parodying generic shounen.
No. It derives its humor from humorous dialogue and scenarios, MOST (as in not all gags) of which have nothing to do with putting a spin on shonen cliches. I would like for you to explain what the numerous common battle manga tropes it lampoons are.
>What else would it be?
An action/comedy with some serious storytelling here and there.
>That was the original vision
I have never heard anything from ONE where he claimed that OPM as a WHOLE was meant to make fun of battle manga.
Goku's massively faster than light reaction speed and multi-galaxy nuster durability.
No. You're stupid.
>Deconstruction consists in questioning, based on reality, the elements used in a genre
No. Deconstruction is a viewpoint that argues that no story or art has any intrinsic meaning or value and that meaning can only be derived from the reaction of a viewer.
I don't think it pokes fun anymore. It forgets to poke fun in favour of fight scenes and moving along whatever ounce of 'plot' it has. It focuses on characters that aren't Saitama too much even though he is the core comic device of the series.
It has become more noticeable to me with Garou. I felt like it was going down this path with Boros but I thought that it would pick up afterwards.
Goku can't be that retarded. Vegeta had reasons to purposely lower his ki levels to farmer with shotgun tier, meanwhile Goku had no reason to lower to the same level in front of the space tyrant, and while still being aware that he had one minion left to boot. It was just shit writing, because goku should've known that Sorbet was still there as nobody in freezer's faction knows how to hide their ki
I dunno I find the entirety of the Tatsumaki was pretty silly. Even in the serious fights, there's a lot of things you shouldn't really be taking seriously going on. Just look at the fat little shit that saved Garou.
Goku regulates his Ki usage so he doesn't run out and lose power so he constantly shifts between high and low Ki output.
Trunks is another character that is seen using this kind of Ki manipulation. Here's Trunks lowering his Ki to the point where his power level reads only 5.
People who compare characters from different franchises deserve to fucking die, it's more annoying when it comes to OPM. You have to be a retard to not get the humor from OPM, they make fun of every cliche anime hero and yet these fags are trying to understand Saitama's power level.
>Goku can't beat Superman
>so Goku fans start picking on the lead character of a gag manga
Why are you Mexicans so insecure?
God fucking dammit, someone finally gets it, some at least
First, lets get the DBfags argument " Huurr durr in the Goku x Beerus fight they could destroy the universe " and say it is right, if you can use Dbz rules then I can get the " I want to be someone who can DEFEAT VILLAINS WITH ONE PUNCH " from OPM and also use it. So if Goku has the power to obliterate the universe and even without intention distorts the universe putting it in danger then he becomes the villain, guess what? Saitama trait kicks in and will bestow Saitama every power imaginable so he can
1- Survive Goku devastating power
2- Kill Goku with one punch at any time he wants.
"But but, he needed more than one punch to kill Boros" WRONG, Saitama always pull punches because he wants the thrill of a battle to the death, even motherfucking Boros calls him a liar because he "never used his full strenght", but since he made that stupid desire with so much drive he is doomed to never get it as long as he is a hero. This is a mockery to the "if you believe in yourself you can do it" trope, which is the whole point of this COMEDY manga, mockery of shonen tropes that are used ad nauseum.
And even if you try to use the "wish with so much drive that you get it" for Goku what is his strongest wish? TO FIGHT PEOPLE STRONGER THAN HIM, so by default he is already fucked. This also applies to every, fucking, shonen, hero, ever. There is 0 chance to win because.... You guessed faggot, " I WANT TO BE SOMEONE WHO CAN DEFEAT VILLAINS WITH ONE PUNCH ", this shit will always, ALWAYS come into play no matter what.
You can't argue against a gag manga because gag mangas have 0 limits, even Bobobobo can win Goku with his tiger because GAG MANGA LEL, hell even fucking Arale can do it because GAG MANGA KEK.
"But anon, Medaka box", again, gag manga >>> shonen manga.
Aaaages ago, in the hoary days before 4chan, someone posted Goku vs Cthullhu on a few videogame message boards, arguing on the side of Cthulhu. And there were some people arguing on Goku's side.
Fair enough. Then consider the following:
>Saitama confronts Goku with his usual potato-face
>He looks unintimidating and unimpressive
>Goku can't sense any ki
>He wonders if this is a joke and gets cocky
>"Casual series: Casual poke"
>Saitama's finger pierces Goku's chest, exploding his heart and wrecking his ribcage, sending small chunks of flesh and bone flying out of his mouth
>Saitama is slightly upset because he just washed his uniform and now there's blood and bone fragments all over it
This is not me being dishonest, this is your own logic. Unless, of course, you can give me a reason why Goku should be more concerned about an average looking bald dude with a potato face, far less muscles than Mr. Satan and no sensible ki than about a revived space tyrant who has surpassed the level of a god.
>It forgets to poke fun in favour of fight scenes and moving along whatever ounce of 'plot' it has.
Monster Association arc
>Fubuki vs Psykos. Thought she learned a new ability. After defeating Psykos, sheb elieved she was finally able to stand up for herself and stand out of her sister's shadow. Only for the narrator to reveal in the next page that Tatsumaki knew the technique from birth and upgraded it to a much more powerful attack.
>King's fending off the MA members with bullshitting and luck
>Saitama entering the fray for no reason other than to address noise complaints
>Saitama's first encounter with Flashy Flash
>Saitama's appearance in the battle was delayed due to him carrying out mundane rock moving
>Bang fucking shit up in battle only to be completely wrecked a few seconds later. "T-Time out!" " I didn't think it would turn out this way. "
>Saitama attempting to make a dramatic entrance later in the fight only to be ignored by Garou and overshadowed by the other heroes every time.
>In general, the back-and-forth between Garou and Saitama before, during, and after their fight. Saitama's lighthearted and deadpan banter contrasting with Garou's edgelord dialogue
>Any scene with Black Sperm
And there have been more moments like these in the current arc.
The comedic nature is still there.
>person makes sarcastic post, shown by posting an image that contradicts the wording of their post and displays awareness of the mindset behind posts like it
>flies over people's heads, they take this post seriously
It's no wonder people get into Saitama power level debates, /a/ is retarded.
In case you've already got your reply box open with "d-d-damage control!!!" typed out, I'm not the person I've quoted.
Even in DB, the fucking point of the Scouters is that measuring and comparing battle power is straight up retarded.
Leave it to the majority of the fanbase to continually wank and debate how powerful the characters are, regardless.
>Goku can't sense any ki
He couldn't sense any Ki from Beerus yet he survived an attack from him. Reminder this is a casual poke from Beerus.
Plus he's much stronger now.
>Saitama can only beat Goku if he is at his weakest
I accept your concession.
if you actually think death battle was right about that fight at all then you need to read more superman comics.
That's not a casual poke. As you can clearly see, it was imbued with powerful destruction god ki, which sent energy towards the core of the planet and made it blow up from inside. See how it exploded from the center rather than cracking from one extreme
>He couldn't sense any Ki from Beerus yet he survived an attack from him.
KaI was obviously afraid of Beerus and introduced him as the God of Destruction. Goku knew beforehand that he was a force to be reckoned with and one beyond his own comprehension. That is literally why their first fight even happened, if Goku didn't know he'd simply assume it's one of Kai's friends and make nothing more of it.
Saitama is an unimpressive looking goof who isn't even taken seriously in his own universe. The only chance Goku has at not """being caught off guard""" is if Genos runs in ahead of time, takes the effort to convince Goku that Saitama is really strong, repeats "He's more than he seems" over and over, somehow pulls a camcorder out of his chest to show video footage of Saitama fighting Boros and constantly yells "GOKU! KEEP YOUR GUARD UP!"
Why can't you just admit that Toriyama's writing is horribly inconsistent because even he stopped caring about Dragon Ball? He has probably grown sick of it and just wants to write something else at this point, but can't because Dragon Ball shits money.
Which Superman comics? The ones where he can't fly and only jumps higher than tall buildings? Or the ones where he literally punches reality?
There are at least dozens of Supermen out there after nearly a century of retcons, reboots, alternate realities and parallel universes.
>That's not a casual poke.
>it was imbued with powerful destruction god ki,
So? All Dragon Ball characters use Ki/Chi to enhance their physical strength and durability.
>Goku knew beforehand that he was a force to be reckoned
Yet still acted cocky "should I dial it down to SS2 from you?"
Face it, Goku wins.
>Yet still acted cocky
That's an argument in my favor, bruh.
Yes. People try to use it to say "even Dragonball thinks power levels are dumb" even though Dragonball is one of the worst offenders of power level shenanigan bullshit, with multi-tiered ascending transformations and character fusion techniques while already in a high-tiered transformation state.
The scouters were just about being inaccurate and leading the villains to overconfidence, like how a lie detector doesn't actually detect lies.
>So? All Dragon Ball characters use Ki/Chi to enhance their physical strength and durability.
Then it wasn't a casual poke if he had to enhance his power and concentrate ki to destroy a planet. And as I said before, he channeled Ki into the planet's core, so it wasn't a physical strenght feat, it was just like freezer sending energy to namek's core to destroy it
not that guy but id assume if goku was wanting to have a match with saitama itd be because he knew he was strong. i mean its not like someone like krillin looks impressive at all but krillin is still a badass by human standards so goku should at least be able to know not to judge a book by its cover. toriyamas writing is total ass though
Not really, since he survived an attack from Beerus despite that >>135680590 which means he can take anything Saitama throws at him. Going off of Saitama's feats so far.
>Then it wasn't a casual poke if he had to enhance his power and concentrate ki to destroy a planet
Wrong that's just how their battle system works.
>since he survived an attack from Beerus despite that
Then why did he get wrecked by a laser ring despite being on a higher state of alertness AND a much, much, much higher level of power?
This is no longer about who can defeat who, it is about the horribly inconsistent writing in Super that only the biggest Dragon Ball fanatic would even hope to defend.
Honestly, this reminds me of when The Phantom Menace came out. Star Wars dorks defended it to death because they didn't want to believe that their beloved franchise had become a joke. Perhaps Super will one go the way of The Phantom Menace and even within Dragonball circles be considered a mockery.
>Then why did he get wrecked by a laser ring despite being on a higher state of alertness AND a much, much, much higher level of power?
Here >>135679115 wasn't your first reply to this post? Keep up.
Seconded. The dragon ball fanbase will always try to pick a fight with any strong character who's getting popular just because they can't get enough of trying to shove goku's dick in everybody's mouths.
So let me summarize
>Goku got wrecked by a laser ring in SSJGSSJ form because he was overconfident and therefore lowered his guard
>Saitama wouldn't be able to exploit this because when he fought Beerus he was caught off guard yet suffered less damage than inflicted upon him by the laser ring
Do you not see the inherrent contradiction. One that can only be solved by assuming Beerus was severely holding back, if we choose to resolve it at all?
This changes nothing.
>against a super powerful galaxy destroyer
>knowing that there's still one minion of freezer hiding in front of him
>Doesn't see coming a laser attack that was pretty much telegraphed.
>This nigga, who can see attacks going at speeds thousands of times faster than light, is caught by surprise by a regular laser shot right in front of him
Just because Goku isn't the strongest doesn't mean you have to stop liking him.
Saitama isn't even in my top 20 but I can acccept that he can one shot my favorite characters because that doesn't somehow make them worse characters.
If you only like a character because they're strong you're doing it wrong.
>what is context?
Those two situations were very different.
>against a super powerful galaxy destroyer
What? No he didn't.
>knowing that there's still one minion of freezer hiding in front of him
I don't see how this is even an issue.
We have seen Goku fight for his life with everything he's got and lose. This clearly shows he has limits.
We have never seen Saitama get serious. If you follow the manga, you should know Saitama's strength comes from him breaking his limiter. He has no limit.
If Goku and Saitama were to fight Saitama would just keep raising his powerlevel untill it surpasses Goku's and wreck him.
Dude, goku can sense the whole universe through his ki senses, that's pretty much how he can teleport from wherever is Whis's home to earth, there's no fucking way he didn't detect the ki of Sorbet being that close to him, specially because freezer army members don't know how to hide their ki.
>What? No he didn't.
So you're saying that Goku, at his maximum power and fully engaged in combat, without lowering his defenses, can get destroyed by a laser ring?
>B-but muh off guard though
By that logic, any time an enemy has attacked him from behind or in an otherwise unexpected move throughout DBZ, his face should've been shattered by the pure, universe busting power of their punches and kicks.
>Superman gets crowned, King of the mountain
>DBZfags gotta take out their rage on a gag character
Seriously, this is like people getting mad at Superman losing to Squirrel Girl or Popeye after a can of spinach. It's just something silly you accept that happens
Never mind I thought you meant Beerus not Frieza.
>B-but muh off guard though
Yep happened before.
>>A series meant to poke fun at the concept of powerlevels and shonen clichés
>OP seriously doesnt know that ONE is the biggest powerlevelfag to ever live
Nice headcannon faggot, but by all means, keep digging that stupid hole
>Squirrel Girl or Popeye
Not really, both characters have good feats to match their hype unlike Saitama.
The rankings aren't power levels though. It's more like level of fame/recognition. For example King is widely considered the strongest human (even if falsely) but only 7th ranked because he isn't very active.
>Against a more or less equally matched opponent
Entirely different things. We're talking about fucking Sorbet and his piece of shit ring against a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. In other words, something that may very well be weaker than the beam you depicted versus a living god.
>Entirely different things.
Not really, both times Goku let his guard down because he thought the battle was over and won.
Here Goku is tanking a island level attack from Piccolo. While in the other pic he gets injured by a much meager attack when his guard was down.
Superman lifted 5.9 sextillion tons for 5 days 24/7, he is at least 2 billion times faster than the speed of light and virtually indestructible since he can survive blackholes and anti-matter.
DBZfags think Superman is weak just because his fights are not gay and over the top like DBZ, when in reality Superman heavily tone down his power and speed to spiderman-like levels in the everyday.
Superman demolishes Goku any day, and that is not counting Goldy Superman who charged his powers for 15 millenniums inside the super-sun after he got Gold-like powers from the gates of heaven.
I really do hope you understand the difference between
>Two equally matched opponents being equally matched when both are paying attention
>One having a massive advantage when the other is caught off guard
>A literal living god being felled in one blow by what should, to him, be the equivalent of a bee's sting
We have no reason to believe Sorbet's laser is any stronger than Raditz, and we at the very least have the damn near guarantee that it's weaker than the Ginyu Force. Even the Ginyu Force, which Goku defeated before going Super Saiyan, is many, many orders of magnitude below SSJGSSJ Goku.
We're back at the start, where you resort to the theory that Goku was entirely absentminded in his fight against Golden Frieza but somehow would be on full alert against Saitama, which you then rebuke by referring to Beerus which is in itself an inconsistency with the Golden Frieza fight unless we assume Beerus was severely holding back.
We're going in circles here.
Superman also got his ass kicked by Alfred.
Alright I have a few serious questions for you guys
Is OPM an action comedy?
Is OPM a gag manga?
Is OPM a deconstruction?
Is OPM a generic shounen with a few jokes?
And what about it qualifies to fit your definition of the series?
It's basically OPM fags and a few DBZ fags making the damn things.
Then it boils down to both sides refusing to admit their favorite characters would lose with both of them calling each-other autistic.
One uses feats.
Other uses something else.
Both are retarded and make DBfags(which little we see after Super) and OPMfags (who already look like /v/tier posters) appear like shit to avoid like the plague.
Everyone will answer differently, and I'm pretty sure there is a correct answer that ONE has provided at some point, but if you ask my uneducated opinion it's an action comedy about a gag character existing in an otherwise normal shounen world.
It's not a deep deconstruction of the genre, at best Saitama is a parody character.
I never understood this, the dbz fanboys think goku would win and yet goku has been shown multiple times to have his ass wrecked and even killed from time to time all while saitama is literal embodiment of overpowered bullshit and has not lost once.
I really do hope you understand this >>135679115
>A literal living god being felled in one blow
Wrong Goku had taken lots of damage before he was hit by the ray gun.
Face it Goku beats Saitama. Until Saitama shows us better feats.
>Wrong Goku had taken lots of damage before he was hit by the ray gun.
Are you implying that, despite acting so cocky to Frieza, he was at that point a shambling wreck only one sub-Raditz laser beam away from collapsing?
Do we need this thread every day?
Can we just wait a few years? OPM is not over and we have no idea what Saitama can and can't do.
>You don't get it the point is he wins every fight with one punch because he broke his limiter/that's the joke.
>N-no, you don't get it, Goku and Beerus almost destroyed the universe just by exchanging blows, their power is maximum.
I'm still not sure which side I despise more.
So, so, let me ask you: can The Hulk beat Saitama?
The Hulk gets angrier the longer he fights.
So, he keeps powering up during a fight.
Saitama gets more excited to fight an enemy he doesn't beat in one punch.
Saitama keeps powering up at an equal pace to the Hulk powering up.
Who wins? An infinite rage, or an infinite excitement?
Did you read the part were "Superman heavily tone down his power and speed to spiderman-like levels in the everyday.", retarded beaner?
Dragonball fanbase are just nostalgiafags that cant let go, the kind of people that supported fanfics like dragonball af and hated gt because they couldnt let their favorite anime/manga to end. OPM is doing nicely, is new stuff and mainly a gag manga/anime, yet DBfags cant accept that even a comedy character could beat their hero.
It's autism, simply autism. I wouldn't pin it entirely on people who like DBZ, just the autists. Because it's so popular it's not stupid to say that a lot of shades of sperg like it. If any one of these spergs saw someone insulting their CHILDHOOD HERO on an anime image board they would simply not stand for it.
Honestly I think the only reason that OPM fags aren't as much like this is simply because it's not as popular.
He has worse regen than Boros, so no.
>injustice is like hurr durr DC can make something edgy to appeal for new fans.
That's like 90% of new comics. Hell, Multiversity was basically a long drawn out way of saying "fuck you" to that kind of writing in comics books.
Are you Insane? That comic series, along with Infinite Crisis, is borderline unreadable due to how complex and over-arching it is. Only a true Comic book fan, and I do mean a devoted one, can enjoy final crisis.
I've only watched the anime and I have no interest in Power Level bullshit. But OPM accepted a level of seriousness when Sea King was introduced, and with it was nurtured with Boros. With that seriousness comes the actual implications of how strong Saitama is. It's no longer "Because it's funny"
>Villain is a physical manifestation of the time people waste reading and arguing over shit like comic books
>The only hero who can fight back against Empty Hand is Shazam because he's the only "pure" good hero left uncorrupted by edginess
There was a large element of it
>Mumen Rider finds the Mjolner in the middle of the street while helping preschoolers across the crosswalk
>he moves it out of the path of traffic
>Mumen Rider is now the Asgard Rider and bicycles on rainbows
OPM and this image makes trolling Dragonball Z fans a no-brainer
yeah then he got one shotted by a aquaman villain.
superman would beat the shit out of pre-super goku btw
Nice shitposting streak
Shounen is demographics not a genre, you fucking retards. It's published in Tonari no Young Jump which is seinen.
It's alternate version anyway. Do you know that in current post-flashpoint universe there is powered down and with his identity revealed to whole world Clark Kent and survivor of Convergence, pre-flashpoint Superman with his Lois and their son, hiding for few years
You know... that doesn't really help your argument. You've just proven that Goku has to concentrate in order to keep his defense up. Meaning that he's otherwise vulnerable while released or not paying attention.
Whereas Saitama's pretty much invincible regardless.
So, good job proving that Goku would loose.
Because DBZfags get angry easier this way. I never watched even one episode of OPM, nor read the webcomic, yet I use Saitama in any discussion regarding powerfull characters to state that Goku is a jobber. Why? Because it's funny
Yeah, but given all those fights were based on fan votes, I wouldn't put much stock in it. Wolverine beat fucking Lobo for God's sake and Lobo has gone toe to toe with Superman.
Which means there are at least two people stronger than Sorbet's laser ring in Oneverse.
Not including Saitama right? Not even a planet buster.
Poor Boros, he was like Goku if he went evil and went around destroying planets in search of a worthy opponent, and just like goku, got rekt by an opponent stronger than he expected.
Are you referring to the book of infinite pages? The same book that Ultraman read cover-to-cover, meaning that it's NOT infinite?
>Expecting comic book writers to understand baic mathematics
Infinity is a really stupid concept which only works in theoretical mathematics, and even then under very special circumstances (see Hilbert's Hotel: Infinity + 1 = Infinity, Infinity x 2 = Infinity and Infinity x Infinity = Infinity).
Just roll with it nigger, even though the definition of infinity is that it never ends Ultraman somehow managed to find a finite end to an infinite book. Kind of like how the Flash can percieve events that last less than an attosecond, yet still ran straight into Deathstroke's blade.
Saitama is power man incarnate
He can do anything and beat anyone
Stop arguing about stupid shit
I'm surprised there isn't an edit where Saitama one-punches Powerman in the end.
>he thinks serious actually means serious
This is bullshit, if Goku was completely relaxed then he would lose his Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form because it was proven that all Super Saiyan forms take a big amount of Ki as upkeep, so much in fact that Gohan fainted from its strain alone.
That part was just poorly written thats all.
This guy would fuck up Saitama, prove me wrong.
Saitama can't even kill a tiny mosquito. What makes you think he can beat Goku?
>farmer with a shotgun
That might be the last thing you type, friend. Be careful.
Yeah he did that with his normal SSJ form, he became so used to it that the upkeep was gone, and because of that he didn't revert back to normal even after spending all of his energy against Cell, unlike Trunks and Vegeta.
But he evidently didn't have the time to master this new form to such extent, since he reverted to normal after taking the mortal wound.
Did everyone forget about this shit?
Goku without a ki aura was always human-level defense, that's been canon consistently.
The only real question is why he decided to let his guard down against Freiza when the fight wasn't over and he was only 5 feet away. You can explain the HOW, but the WHY remains a mystery.
That's filler anon.
Above human since he took bullets to the head and survived the ray gun shot to his heart.
>but the WHY remains a mystery.
The movie literally spelled it out for you.
It's ONE who wants to rewrite garou arc.
>saitama is a living being therefore has ki by default
>Goku would sense saitama's ki and it's intent and so would react accordingly
Watch this for example, Goku could sense if saitama's going to attack him
>Goku can't be that retarded
That line by itself is enough to warrant a reaction pic, but Goku IS that retarded, dont forget he could have killed Majin Buu and saved countless lives if he didnt literally go "Not my problem, faggots!" Hell the laser thing is actually just a shitty redo of what happened the first time Goku fought freeza and turned off the Super Sayain before the fight was even over with. In fact, Goku would have died then and there to Freeza's knock off Destructo Disk if Freeza didnt miss
To everyone using le laser off guard meme, that wouldn't happen on a 1-1 fight with Goku and Saitama. He's been stated multiple times throughout the story to have energy/ki, so Goku wouldn't definitely sense it. Pic related is the only way that Saitama could catch Goku off guard which sadly would probably work.
Overall for the fight it depends. If Goku drops into the OPMverse he probably gets beaten easily, but Saitama leaves satisfied. If Saitama's dropped in DBS then the fight would go on for a while but then Goku would go serious and beat him pretty quickly. This is due to Saitama's lack of good feats. However, Goku losing in the OPM verse is due to the ongoing gag, where the rule is Saitama beats anyone in one serious punch no matter what.
Why is it that these kinds of retards are always hanging around OPM threads and yet they never seem to retain any fucking information given to them? ONE is fucking writing everything, Murata doesn't decide any of that shit.
Maybe it's because I have zero nostalgic attachment to DBZ, but I can't understand why anyone even likes that annoying voice faggot Goku. Especially to the extent they get butthurt over a joke character like Saitama being the strongest character in his own series.
Power level wankers continuing to prove they are the scum of the gene pool.
Goku literally has no feats of his own that would legitimately place him at the level people say he is.
In the whole manga you won't find a single page where Goku himself destroys anything more than a mountain.
>Anon asks why /a/ takes a gag manga seriously
>Turns into another fucking powerlevel/feats meme thread
>>A series meant to poke fun at the concept of powerlevels and shonen clichés
It's not retard. It's a comedy/action manga with an OP MC. It's not here to poke fun at anything, ONE just does what he wants. It's serious at times and Saitama is not the only one who fights and there are cliches. Fuck off.
Watch Murata's stream, he says ONE writes and checks everything for manga version. Sometime he shows those storyboards made by ONE. Murata even said that he wanted to boost up the pace with anime adaptation but he couldn't because he had to dump and redraw chapters again when ONE finds something unacceptable and rejects it. (There's tons of rejected/unused Murata chapters.)
Just like the moon, we've got American flags planted in the brains of every eurofag in the world. It forces them to think about us basically every couple minutes of every single day of their lives. They're utterly helpless to not think about us all the time.
Arguing a VS battle with Saitama is completely and utterly pointless.
He's one of the VERY few people who I think should be banned from most VS battles. To this day, I've thought of only the fucking Shrike/Fehdman Kassad from Hyperion Cantos should be banned due to the fact that he's faster than every single other Flash to exist. He is practically the fastest broken character that isn't omnipresent. He's so broken that I think there is not a single fair fight for him in all of fiction, as he'll either stomp his opponents, or will get stomped by his opponents.
My reasoning for Saitama is a bit different. Saitama shouldn't be in VS battles, because he's actually been established as someone who has broken his limits. ONE makes it clear that he HAS no match. We have so far not seen post-training Saitama in deep trouble, even once in this series, and that's because he has no limit, he can't be pushed because he's beyond mere limitations.
People want to say, "But that's a no-limit fallacy! Of course he has his limits!", but no, not at all. If you think so, then look at the webcomic and check out the part(Pic related) where the scientist from the House of Evolution talks about Saitama and emphasizes on how Saitama went through his limitations.
Saitama was made in mind to be a limitless hero. Goku was made to keep moving forward to NEW limitations. No matter what, Goku will ALWAYS have his limits. That's the whole point with him continually training. He trains, but he will still never reach Saitama's level because he only merely moves the restriction further upwards, unlike Saitama who has broken through with it. It's so easy to understand.
This is why many are right when they say that One Punch man is an inversion of fighting manga. In fighting manga, the MCs are like Genos. They continually train and try to reach to new heights and get stronger and stronger. But Saitama on the otherhand has trained and has reached a point where the heights are stretched to infinity.
Filler comedy bit.
Next you're going to tell me yamcha, tien, and the pokemon were actually strong enough to take on the ginyu force after only training with king kai for a few weeks.
Anyone, from any fanbase, that passionately argues about "power levels" or which character would beat who in completely unrelated series, has the maturity of a 10 year old and should just be ignored.
Also, OPM does not have "power levels". The rankings are not a direct reflection of the power of the characters. Hence Saitama, Fubuki, King, Amai Mask, probably other arguments could be made. The ranking system is more of a bureaucratic thing. Although the strength of the character plays a role in their rank it's far from the sole determining factor.
What's amusing is that the progenitor of these series did this in the first place yet people say "it's copying Goku being invincible in the original Dragon Ball" and other dumb shit acting like everything in anime is a Dragon Ball rip off.
>OPM is not over and we have no idea what Saitama can and can't do.
Face it anon, even if ONE makes Saitama destroy the universe or bust a planet with a finger, the battle gonna still be a thing, cuz powerlevelfags are cancer.
DBfags can't deal with the fact that a character who's not in DB can kick Goku's ass
Saitamafags on the other hand like to get people upset/Don't understand how the character works and say stupid things
They're meant for each other
Children do not have a good grasp of what parody is. They easily confuse reality and fiction. They can't tell whether its a master piece or garbage.
To a child, a show with fighting and some semblance of meta is a master piece.
This show is made for a child. You are a child if you enjoy it.
>Its also not as satirical as some of you claim.
Read the originals. With that shitty fucking art, it's obvious that the entire series has always been taking the piss. Not so much with Murata's beautiful drawings. That feeling gets lost.
Not him but you're taking it way too seriously. Yes the series is called "One Punch Man" but the joke is just that Saitama is stupidly invincible etc. He doesn't necessarily have to win EVERYTHING with one punch for the gags to be amusing.
the whole MA arc battle is a giant slap of big parody compared to all of previous saitama fight. i dont know why that anon complain about garou arc anyway, fucking speedreader.
>wins the one who's the writer is sided with.
i don't know why people even try to use this universe shit theory
Wait why are we arguing over powerlevels.
Isn't it futile to compare two unstoppable forces?
Forgive me for being new but wtf. I see enough of this cringey debate on sites like reddit and 4chan is supposed to be better...r-right?
And this thread also turned into exactly that.
Why the fuck is it so hard to understand that shit like this isn't directly comparable when the two fictional universes run on different rules?
>Read the originals.
>With that shitty fucking art, it's obvious that the entire series has always been taking the piss.
Is the amateur art the only reason you can come up as to why this series as whole was meant to be satire on battle manga? The webcomic's low quality artwork is not a stylistic choice that was intended enhance the series comedic qualities. It just looks that way because ONE can draw for shit.
Do you consider Mob Psycho to be huge parody because of its unpolished artwork? Do you think the Keiji Mogami arc or Mob's gradual character development are supposed to be satirical in some way?
To be fair,OPM's world is a consistent one. We can't have saitama destroy the moon or break the earth in half and then expect that everything's back to normal in the next storyv like it happens in most gag mangas
>an emotionless doll designed to be disliked by otakus
>becomes the most popular archetype that has multiple clones a season
Overall (sub) : B-
Story : C
Animation : A
Art : B
Music : B
+ Has some of the most gorgeously animated fight scenes you will see anywhere in anime period.
− Relies far too heavily on one simple joke, and is almost never able to add any emotional or narrative, er, punch to those fight scenes.
> New fights come hard and heavy, but that one first joke just keeps getting repeated, and even drawn out to fill more and more airtime. Most of One Punch Man's non-action material is devoted to traditional gag comedy, and as a gag comedy, it's not the most impressive production. What jokes don't fall into that single “Saitama is too strong” bracket are generally either simplistic (Saitama punches a guy in the junk) or straight-up unpleasant (one later recurring character is basically just a gay panic stereotype). The action remains stellar throughout, but the humor can often drag.
This guy is trolling right?
The concept of a creepy submissive no personality doll person was supposed to be disgusting and off putting
But it turns out the jappo fucks love that shit.
Never lose a World War kids.
This thread did not need to last as long as it did. You faggots need to learn to sage when replying to shitty posts/threads. Powerlevel threads are terrible and pointless. Making a new thread just to complain about powerlevel threads is no different (especially considering it ended up turning into another one). Too many times when discussing OPM on /a/, we had faggots make an entirely new thread just discuss some topic (usually something trivial and stupid) that could have well just been discussed in an already ongoing thread.
sasuga DBZfag, you just had to shitting up another OPM thread with your "muh feat" autismo completely disregard the original intention of thread. kindly kill yourself like your shitty dead franchise.
She shows emotion all the time.
>designed to be disliked by otakus
Unfounded theory, no more "designed to be disliked" than any other character. How exactly was she supposed to be disliked by otaku? Anno, an otaku, would realize how stupid that is.
All I read from his interviews is him trying to explain her appeal to nips in general.
>infront of frieza
>lower down guard
so goku is retarded? saitama got punched 2x(garou and sea king) without his own conscience focusing on defense and he didn't go down meanwhile goku got fucking rekt.
Real question. Who's a cooler character between King and Mr. Satan?
>Annoying WWE cliche fag
>gimmick got old instantly
>annoying unlikeable character
>all the main characters hate him short of Goku after the "world spirit bomb"
>actually thinks he's the strongest and keeps making excuses
>just an unlucky dude always caught in fights
>gets credit despite saying it wasn't him
>decides to keep up the gimmick to give people hope against all the monsters
>silent and strong looking, people actually thought he was powerful when he first came on
>overall better drawn as a hero
>uses his fame to bluff against monsters and save people
>gets caught by Saitama, instantly apologizes. Saitama says he doesn't care since he's giving people hope and they become bros
>total bro character
>despite being a huge coward still stays around to help whenever he can/bluffs and saves enemy not caring about fame, just doing it to try and help
King is a bro and a better written character than Mr. Satan ever could be
>Being this dam retarded.
>And its only the 5th day of 2016
The problem that someone stated before:
Saitama is written as a gag character who can beat anyone with ease, but he's and the world he is in is written with enough realism and ideals that he becomes more than a gag, and this sends powerlevel/DBZfags batshit crazy trying to compare him to shonen characters.
But Popeye still can defeat you.
Why are you using this as an argument?
The punch was tangent to the earth so it didnt blow up.
It's the same reason Gohan's kamehameha didnt destroy the earth when killing cell.
Was there any magical girl series doing the dark psychological breakdown of its cast before Madoka? I might just not know the genre well enough but it seems pretty edgy to me.
Anything can be a genre if you choose to consider it one.
If there was a group of people who were particularly interested in watching shows whose titles begin with the letter C, then "C shows" would be a genre.
>he's not that good at writing
You dont have to be to write a shounen though.
OPM straddles between gag and shounen and leans towards the latter outside of when saitama is looking potatofaced when fighting the big bad of the arc.
Not to mention that Murata's art makes everything seem more serious.
>Saitama defeating King
Anime Fags are the cancer of the world
Here's the final post about Saitama vs [anyone]. Get ready.
Saitama would win no matter what because it would be funny. It will never not be a joke when he's fighting. Saitama wins no matter what. The opponent could be the most powerful version of superman who can lift infinity, become real and write the script, travel back in time and kill Saitama's great grandpa fused with every single dragon ball character going super sayain blue with both god hands, a golden gun, an invincibility star, piloting super tengen toppa gurren Lagann.
Saitama still wins and is holding back. It would be funny to see someone hyped up to be indescribably powerful be defeated in a single/few punches
Go discuss something else, you're wasting your time
That comic was made in 2008. The webcomic OPM was made in 2009. I always assumed that One was just a 2.ch 4chan cross boarder and took inspiration from it and ran with it as his own comic
>sloppily drawn hero
>can beat anyone EVER
>not much of a personality
Anime adaptations always bring a loud retarded crowd.
Also Murata's art gave the impression that this was a super serious story meant to be taken super serious.
>main character is a silly pun with the name of a Japanese children's show hero around which the series build a whole world for shits and giggles
>people think it's some DEEP commentary on things only retards would take seriously in the first place
>Wrong, both Superman and Shazam struggled to lift it and barely could
Ultraman was the one who lifted it by himself and read it
>"it's copying Goku being invincible in the original Dragon Ball
Agreed, Goku's shit is getting stronger and becoming better warrior. And he never was unbeatable even in the original DB manga. He gets his ass beat then trains harder to beat the thing that beat him. I'll give death battle credit with the one thing they got right though, it makes him a great character.
Fubuki, Bang, King and metal bat are the characters that make me keep wanting to come back.
King especially so. he just so fascinating, and his interactions with saitama are gold.
Not to give Toriyama credit but it was overpowered, and you need a flaw to exploit for dramatic effect. You'll notice all the transformations after that had a timer on them. Fusing, SSJ3.
Mr. Satan isn't as horrible as you make him out to be (besides being a gigantic charlatan he's actually a pretty cool guy) but I agree that King is the better bro.
On the other hand, Mr. Satan is probably stronger than King. King is a big guy and probably pretty strong, but in the end he's just an otaku NEET that likes vidya. Mr. Satan actually became a martial arts champion through somewhat legitimate means and is probably the strongest non-ki powered human in his universe.
Why do autists love this "who would win" shit so much? I don't understand the appeal of Death Battle.
>>seriously using TV Tropes as a real source for the definition of a word
This better be bait.
>Whats so fun about watching your favorite childhood characters duking it out
This isnt abstract art you fucking autist, you may not like it, but dont go on about not understanding it
>thread about why DBZfags are so retarded
>claim someone is stronger than goku
>DBZfags appear just to act retarded
Exactly. Goku doesn't even even want to be the strongest ever. He just wants to be the strongest he can be. If he was like saitama, there'd be no one left to fight/ he'd curbstomp everyone and that would sadden and bore him. Being the strongest in the universe and having no one left to fight would be hell for Goku and undermine the point of his character
>Saitama one-punches Goku
>Goku somehow survives it and gets up with a smile
>Vows to train even harder until he can take down Saitama
>Goku now has a new goal in his life
>Realizing that he only exists as a benchmark for others and with no aspirations for himself, Saitama's apathy grows even further
Nobody knows that feel.
Unless you're talking about DC 1 million's Golden Superman Prime that is.
