Meliodas was kept in this World so the pieces couldn't reunite when sealed away or he somehow managed to escape and the Goddesses allowed his presence under conditions he broke with the events of Danafor/Like being the forced champion of the Goddesses who is guarding the Coffin with his Sword and is supposed to stop anyone from trying to resurrect them.
However, he broke a condition 16 years ago which was falling in love with Liz (Who was probably also an Apostle like Elizabeth), thus the Goddess Clan manipulated some events and destroyed Danafor to set an example, taking everything he loves.His friend, his kingdom, his love.

Now Liz was reborn but Meliodas has enough of playing Lapdog which is why the Goddess Clan tried to use Ban to kill him cause their patience has run out.

Not really. There has been a trend of big bads being completely at peace with nature and the world (while still being capable of massive cruelty). Jesus from Drifters, comes to mind, as does Chakravartin from Asura's Wrath.

Gowther returns the memories to Guila and Zeal.
Guila shows no hatred or anything but understand his reasoning, saying it's her own fault for drinking the Demon Blood.
Gowther also gives them a Gift.
He transfers the scene with Dale from chapter 57 into them, his last words how he loves his children and so on.

Gowther's arrows actually do have a physical impact, given how one particularly large shot pushed back Dale while the latter was holding on to Meliodas.

Regardless, I was addressing the first anon's intent. Even if they checked how Diane was, how would they find out that she forgot King? At the minimum, we can assume that they know Gowther was trying to incapacitate her during their fight, he'd do something that would impair her motor functions or ability to think (if he couldn't freeze her entirely like he did Guila and Zeal). They might know that he wanted to erase her memory of the situation with Guila, but that doesn't really give them any clues as to what else he could have changed in her memories.

Anyway. Enough about that. After doing some thinking, I've got an idea of why Gowther erased Diane's memory. He probably wants to check if the feelings of love she has for King can surpass her memories.
