Taiyou no ie finished
Did you get teary? Be honest, we will judge you
Greatest OTP of all time. It's amazing how well they go together, from start to finish.
>Looked earlier in the day to check and see if it was out.
>About to head to bed and decide to look once more just to see what else updated
>Tearing up by the end of the chapter
Fug. Mao 2 cute
It was a good ride. I feel an emptiness not many manga make me feel. This along with Sankarea was one of the first manga I read and followed since first chapter. Seeing how both ended quite nicely I know that now I have to move on with my life.
Yeah, I know /a/ is not my blog but whatever, I felt the urge to say it.
I had a grin on my face the entire chapter. That ending was perfect.
With all the shitty endings we've been getting recently, it's nice to finally see one that lives up to its potential. Looking forward to the extras.
Is this the manga in which the girl is like the neighbor and the male mc is like part of a family who lived next door to her, but the parents died and the three children got split up? The main male mc comes homes and then tries to get everyone to live in the house?
Goddammit, I hope we get an epilogue somehow, I want to see Mao as an actual mother.
Mao is so adorably romantically dumb.
Seeing her without scribble-eys was a nice touch.
I did not, although I squealed like a girl. I got teary eyed several other times in this series.
Also HA, a good ending to a manga! I told you bastards it would happen! Christ, I'm so happy. I think this is my favorite manga of all time now.
>dedicating the last page to family
This could've ended 4 chapters ago, though. Regardless, I'm still happy. Prior to the last 4 or so the manga was the best it's ever been.
Slow updates. It got on my list, but then disappeared. I always enjoyed reading it, but since it just stopped, I never picked it back up again.
This was like a perfect story.
And yup, it was. I started suspecting everything would be spic and span for an ending quite a while ago, then got worried when the mom showed up. Well fuck me, because Taamo just brought her in to tie a loose thread I had actually forgotten about! Stellar stuff, would and will recommend to others for years to come.
The Mom was a shocker to me to, but they way they handled it was perfect. This was a literal GOOD END. There's nothing more I could have asked except for an epilogue where everyone is even happier. It's so beautiful. All these relationships were finally repaired. I love it so much.
I've seen good reaction to Last Game and know there's progress, but the series didn't catch my interest in the first few chapters so /shrug.
Wait, actually, I got pretty far in that series I think. I just remembered a bunch of things that happened. I guess I didn't find it memorable. I don't know why I dropped it.
>It's almost creepy
Nah, if they've only known each other for only a short while, then I would agree, but they're childhood friends and the concept of family is a huge thing for both of them.
It's like how I never found Ed's proposal to Winry in FMA creepy, because of their shared history. They were not just friends who started dating.
I know exactly why I dropped LG. THIS flaming faggot shitting up everything jesus christ I hated him so much. Though apparently he gets better later on.
>I just didn't fucking like the main couple
Huh, I found them very likeable. I like the fact that it's the guy chasing the girl, and that they're both young adults instead of teenagers.
The problem is, like >>121178690 say, the love triangle. It's completely forced, and you know he's never going to win anyway, so why bother?
I thought I'd like that they were young adults but the act like high schoolers a lot of the time. Honestly, I only just remembered they were young adults because I recall the guy being an awkward fuck and the girl having the density of a black hole. I remember kind of liking how the guy was becoming increasingly important to her but I guess I wasn't feeling it since I dropped it.
That's what marriage is, dumb dumb.
>trying this hard to make things look worse than they appear
Tripfag, pls go
No, no, you're misunderstanding me. He loves her, I know that, but the end can be taken really creepily.
>And now, with Mao included...
>HERE'S TO THE REBIRTH OF THE NAKAMURA FAMILY!!!
I mean, he basically told he wants her to poop out a while bunch of kids and then says like the most villainest thing ever. It's amusing to say the least.
Let's be honest here. Who WOULDN'T want to use this absolute cutie patootie as breeding stock
>I only just remembered they were young adults because I recall the guy being an awkward fuck
Only around her. He used to casusally date girls, but none of his usual moves work on her. I thought that was kind of the whole point.
What, that's not how I read it. It's not like he yelled at her, "Let's make babies, right here and now." He talked about something he wanted for them in the future, and she was more than alright with the idea.
This is probably the only manga I can remember recently that has had a great run all throughout its run.
no drama that sidetracks the story for 20 chapters , no asspulls , just pure loveydovey bullshit.
>still no anime
I wish they did Taiyou instead of Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun.
I always got the impression it was its magazine's biggest series. It's fairly popular in nipland and has won an award. Now it's over and all that's left is some extra milking. This would seemingly give it good chances but most anime air while the original is still ongoing so that it can be a proper advertisement. Since this series is BASICALLY done I'm not sure there's any incentive to adapt it. So, 50/50. Maybe an even smaller chance than that.
I'm about halfway through so far
>tfw Oda doesn't deserve this
>tfw Daiki doesn't deserve this
>tfw Sugimoto doesn
...Nah yknow what, spaghetti co worker kinda deserves it. But girly bro and bro bro did nothing wrong.
>open up a random chapter
>can't stop reading
This series really is just fantastic.
It's a very unusual shoujo. It's more about family than romance.
Is this your first shoujo?
>Koi Dano Ai Dano
>Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume
(The ending was a bit iffy)
I like Strobe Edge, but i gave up on Ao Haru Ride after some volumes.
Reading through this now.
I can't stop pronouncing Mao's name as "Maou" for some reason.
Best love story ever told in this form of media. The worst part about this was when it looked like it could end up as some love triangle bullshit with Daiki, but the story put an end to that pretty quickly. Everything else was just comfy and heart warming.
Maigo said they got some shorts and extras to translate, so the ride isn't fully over.
Well a base is just a base, and most of the chapters are dedicated to Mao getting back with her family and Hiro trying to bring his family back together. Furthermore the title of the series refers to the Nakamura family's household and specifically Hina so that's one more thing. Usually when something romance-related happens, there's reference to how Hiro helped Mao with her family or Mao helped Hiro with his.
All in all I'd say it's objectively more about family. I may be persuaded to agree that it's equal parts family and romance but I don't quite see it.
Well it's most definitely not a romance that is like the puppy love that is normally portrayed. It's a romance story with family as the central theme. Both characters have to restore their relationships with their family. With most character it was a platonic love -- such as Hiro and his siblings or Mao with her new step-mother and step-sister. But Mao and Hiro were family to each other all along, and their relationship happened to be on a romantic level.
Most of the civilized world allows you to marry cousins, although in Japan it's looked at with less/no scrutiny while in America/New York state you're allowed to do it but I don't think I know anyone who wouldn't call it gross and assume it was illegal.
You have some fair points. In actuality, I may have some bias seeing as the "family" themes resonate more with me than those of romance.
>doesn't read shoujo
But you're already a gigantic faggot. You don't seem to need anymore help to me.
I'm more interested in why it's a shounen. But isn't that normally dictated by the magazine it's published in anyways?
Don't get too caught up on "shounen" and "shoujo" -- they are just show the demographic that the magazine is geared towards. Only reason Horimiya is "shounen" is because of the magazine it's serialized in. Usually there are cliche traits as to what types of stories that these demographics want, such as harem misunderstands or shoujo rape. But the labels themselves are superficial.
Maybe I'm not reading enough Shoujo, but I haven't seen shoujo rape in a while.
Makes me wonder if it's dying out or I just got better taste so that I never get to that point in the manga.
The only one I can think of recently is an accidental boob grab in Nijiiro days between these two
