>>120773498 Cute is completely fine, but moe is overdone and generally fits a certain style of work. It's not always bad, but often indicative of things that some audiences don't want in their anime. If you want it that's fine, but people on both sides of the discussion pushing their preferred direction as 'right' or as 'real anime' just make life harder for everybody.
>>120774648 I'm not trying to pretend that I generally like what would be considered 'moe', the character I posted was one of many examples of a cute female who is not moe rather than an attempt to fit in. I don't take issue with your preferences, just the people who try to stir shit up.
>>120774578 >>120774697 >considered 'moe' What is moe? Artstyle? Just cause something is drawn ugly doesnt mean it is not moe. If you want to use moe to equate to a certain genre then go ahead but dont try to attempt to say that Ai isn't moe.
>>120774804 Ai Tanabe is a bloke now? You should probably see Planetes at some point. As for stirring shit up, you know exactly what I mean. >>120774815 That is a very good question you pose. It's hard to define, often coming as more of a guy feeling essentially. What has to be kept in mind is that the English usage of the word is a little different from the actual nip definition, similar to how we don't use 'anime' or 'manga' like they do. >Ai isn't moe She's cute as hell, but I'd argue she does not really qualify.
>>120774789 There's something special about a show which has no plot yet is still able to really pull emotions out of the audience. Plots are the easiest way to generate emotions from people: a villain to hate, heroes to root for and get sad over when they have troubles or die, cliffhangers to force you to tune in next week, etc. Plots are easy mode regarding creating emotional connections with the audience.
For example, in Kill lel Bill, you have "villain of the week" as your antagonist, some tits and ass here and there to keep your hormones raging and a revenge story straight out of Kill Bill. After the episode ends, it is back to the status quo with another villain from another club next week. Is this what the baka waito gaijins think is good anime with a good plot?
For most SoL shows to draw genuine laughs, tears, nostalgia, friendship and familial-bonding-type feelings without any plot is an achievement not to be fucking written off, IMO.
>>120774934 >she does not really qualify. Ai kopy is like your typical moe trait catchphrase employed by many characters in other shows. A character like Ai is what people would term dojikko, clumsy moe.
Which is why it is retarded to use the term moeshit as a blanket term. If they want hate on a certain genre, just say they hate SoL but they won't because it would make them look stupid.
Is a more interesting question: why moefags like it? Is just obnoxious. Stupid girls acting like idiots for the sake of looking cute. Is like saying that a girl look cuter when braindamaged, that's fucking mysoginistic.
>>120774957 Stop repeating your silly premise of an argument.
I'm not arguing about what CGDCT is. It's irrelevant. What's the discussion is how people you consider to be "normies" see things. And in anglo-saxon cultures like the US, Canada and UK, normies there will see people who like cute girls doing cute things as pedophiles.
They are wrong but they attach any form of admiration of young girls as pedophilia and not homosexuality.
Now, stop being retarded and go stick a dildo like your ass like you usually do.
>>120774934 >Ai Tanabe is a bloke now? You should probably see Planetes at some point. I watched it back in 2003 or whenever. Seems like there were more space shows back then. Ryvius, Stellvia. Though I know planetes has been getting hyped on /a/ recently, I put it in my "good but not as good as everyone seems to think" folder along with Eva and Meguca.
Anyway, no, I don't know what you mean. Nor do I think you have a good sense of moe. And since it is a Japanese word and concept it either fits the original or is being misused.
Short version: kawaii is objective, moe is subjective (or reflexive)
