The characters look more like the LN designs, so in my opinion it's better. All I'm asking for is ramen date with sensei and rollercoaster scene, Because I know we won't be getting full dere yukinoshita (last volume)

The arcs skipped are mostly inconsequential stuff though, like fanservice chapters with Saika, Sensei, Saki, and Szaimokuza. Obviously it sucks if you're a fan of their characters, but ultimately they're side characters and not what the 'main plot' is going to be about.

Even Watari is doing something similar in his later volumes, as they focus mainly on the main characters and their developments. He puts the lighter, more fanservicey stories in the side volumes (hence 7.5 etc).

So yeah, keeping it to the bare bones works as most of the meat taken out is just fat, and this is really the best extremely compressed anime LN adaptation I've ever seen (save for probably Baccano, but I haven't read the LN so I can't compare).

Although, they did commit a blunder of the century by cutting the part where Hayato says he likes a girl with an initial Y while in the camp. It's already a major part of the latest volume, and I'm pretty sure it'll be important in the future as well.
