If Kill la Kill sucks, then why was it stickied every week?
>better than Akuma no Riddle
It became bad retroactively after the terrible last seven episodes.
Therein lies the rub of serial storytelling. Even if you piecemeal out your tale into weekly segments, at the end of the day you have to judge the thing itself based on the whole. If the last serialized fifth of The Count of Monte Cristo had been total shit it would not be a beloved novel today.
A serial composition makes you forget flaws, temporarily. You say, "this has a lot of potential, and if it keeps getting better it'll be really good". But when it doesn't get better you notice all the problems the early stuff had all the more clearly.
But I still think Episode 5 was really great.
I actually enjoyed the last third. It wasn't amazing or anything, but I enjoyed it.
My problem was the middle. There was that period with the elections and school trip arcs where it felt like nothing actually happened except for introducing Nui. The show never really got it's mojo back afterwards.
Kill la Kill was good because it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously
It's the best surprise anime of 2013 (although, is it really a surprise given the reputation of Trigger?) but it was not the best one for 2014
It's good for what it is and that's that
That's what I mean. Whenever /a/ hypes something up, my hype goes down at the same rate.
I don't mean surprise in the sense that it surprised anyone that it was okay but moreso that it surprised people that it obtained the hype levels it established
KlK is sure an anime people will talk about 10 years from now on
Can we at least agree that no other community pumps out as much fanart as KlK fans?
Because even though it sucked, it had the best girl of the year in it.
>saying that granny is better than glorious Nui
That's like saying you can improve filet mignon with ketchup.
reminder that even Trigger thought their haremshit was better than KLK
>the thread is still going on even though the correct answer was the very first post
Come on guys
>episode 1 airs
>ANIME IS SAVED all over /a/
>it turns out to be shit
>fucking /v/ overhyping shit
>/a/ knew KLK was going to be utter garbage from scene 1.
You can't retroactively change what happened. By now it looks like /a/ has a boogeyman, like /pol/ blaming everything on srs raids.
Got four stickies apparently
The only other stickies since around that time are JJBA, naruto, mamare Q&A, a new years stream, and gay moot troll shit.
It's funny, all this overhyped gay shit like Ping Pong, Akame ga Kill, Aldnoah, UBW is supposed to be saving anime but none of it got a sticky.
>Ping Pong, Akame ga Kill, Aldnoah, UBW is supposed to be saving anime
What kind of drooling retard would ever say that?
>kill la kill airing
>/v/irgins come over
>threads all over the place
>kill la kill ends
>consensus is that it was overhyped, average show that didn't live up to potential
The 'saving anime' thing was before KLK aired
>it's gonna save anime
>it turns out to be shit
>people realise it's not saving anything and stop calling it such
Why is it so hard to own up to a mistake?
The saving anime thing has existed since before KLK.
Besides, I'm sure most of the people that enjoyed it have moved on to other shows while the people that hate it still make thread about it. This just makes it seem like more people hate it.
