How long until I can scream KOTOMINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE KIREIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII while watching this animated?
Ufotable pumped out the first 5 kara no kyoukai movies pretty quickly.
If each HF movie is 1 hour (pretty much what Knk movies were), then about 8-9 movies can be mode to cover the whole route if it's assumed that HF will have the same length as the UBW tv series (which is about 8 hours).
With that said, first half of HF has lots of SoL that can be condensed so maybe 6 movies instead of 8?
If it's 8-9 movies and they are as fast as how they were with Kara no Kyoukai (Movies 1 to 7 were released within 2 years) and assuming that Fate is a more popular project, then 2016 seems reasonable.
Going through Hollow, ripping files and what not.
Just wondering, what's the best method for converting the sprites? Aliasing everywhere...
>about 8-9 movies
Are you completly delusional?
The middle of the route would make the middle movies unwatchable.
You mean from bmp to png?
If yes use imagemagick "mogrify"
My guess is 3 maximum more likely 2
3 movies of 1 hour duration, are you kidding?
The middle of the route can be condense and have additional scenes (more than the interludes) just like UBW series has additional scenes. Except movie scenes will be longer.
>3 movies of 1 hour duration
No they'd have to be longer.
But there is no way to make more than 3 "satisfying" movies out of HF.
How would you even cut the route in 8 movies?
You can't just see movies as longer TV- Episodes
>No they'd have to be longer.
Ufotable is not Ghibli, they don't do movies longer than 1 hour.
Plus, who'd want to see something of the Nasuverse in a film longer than 1 hour in a film theater? His works are enjoyable if you don't take too much at once, even for diehard fans.
>waitress: "if you don't like this steak, why don't YOU cook it instead?"
That's for the director to figure out, not me.
1 out of 8 movies. (And that was the only good one too).
So let's say Ufotable finds that really good director that can pull off a good movie of almost 2 hour length from the nasuverse. There's still 6 hour of movie material left. That's 6 movies. Or if you think the middle route should be eliminated completely and have nothing new added, that's 4 hours left optimistically. According to Ufotable's record, that's 4 more movies but that's if you want a really shit product.
Thanks based anon! I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around it, but I'm sure I'll get it eventually.
Right, the VN has ton of shit, I get it.
That's why Ufotable will probably add new content as they did with UBW. However, UBW has less shit in it, so you don't see much added scenes.
You're delusional for expect less than 2 movies.
Knk is less popular than Fate (yes, even HF is more popular than Knk) and got 8 movies with an OVA. HF is guaranteed multiple movies. There is more demand.
Also, KnK 7 was 2 hours, KnK 8 was 1 hour 30 minutes
I think the best way is to have 3 movies, cutting out some of the less important SoL scenes. Not all of them were necessary, but cutting out every single one would also cut out a bunch of important stuff with sakura
>UBW has less shit in it
UBW is in my opinion the best paced route.
The climax isn't as good as HF's but it has not nearly as much "idle-time" as HF.
Also the wordcount on HF is horribly bloated with all the bad-ends and horrible sex-scenes
No comment on Fate
>Also the wordcount on HF is horribly bloated with all the bad-ends and horrible sex-scenes
You were reading a shitty fan translation.
You're the nicest anon I've ever met.
I fucking love you. Have some sexy Seiba and Rin as compensation for having to spoonfeed a faggot like me.
HF = UBW >>> Fate
I can't wait for Nine Lives
with inner monologue, obviously.
>with inner monologue, obviously.
Picture says all
How they handle Shirou vs. Archer will be a pretty good indication to how much of a trainwreck HF is going to be
Shouldn't you be in a Prisma thread?
SHIKI...I don't get why he gets all the hate on /a/. Tsukihime is just written to make him out as the bad guy, when really he's no worse than any of the 'protagonists' and a better person than most of them.
What are the main complaints? He raped Kohaku and stole Shiki’s life force?
Okay, let's get this straight. He never fucking raped Kohaku. He never did it. He never did it. He never did it. He never did it. He fucked Kohaku.
Let me ask you this. WHO IN THE GAME DIDN'T FUCK KOHAKU? You can't even name one fucking character who hasn't plugged her loose cunt! She is the kind of bitch who will act like she doesn't want it when she really does. She'll say No! while having multiple orgasms. SHIKI knew this, he's a fucking ladies man. He knows what filthy whores like Kohaku want.
And there's this other big bitch you guys have with him. He supposedly stole Shiki’s life force.
Objection! He was worried about his one and only precious sister. Is keeping your loved ones from family problems so wrong? When Akiha does the same thing to Shiki it's like 'oh she's so womanly', but when SHIKI does it it's wrong? He just wanted to protect Akiha. He probably was going to use his Tohno Inheritance to tighten Kohaku’s cunt back up or cure her syphilis or something.
The story was written to make that faggot Shiki look good. Objectively, SHIKI is a far better character than Shiki. At least he has the balls to take action decisively instead of dicking around like Shiki, and if he weren't stuck with that weak ass Blood Swords power of his and no Mystic Eyes of Death Perception plothax he probably would have won the fight.
But you're wrong. Everyone loves SHIKI, myself included.
>HF with less Rider
Not sure I even want it anymore
And? Ufotable draw episode 12 right now. So NO S2 OH GOD?
Yeah those are definitely words that should be coming out of Shirou's mouth
How long until I can scream
Shit's obvious, it depends on how much Roa has gained control of that vessal as he's become the dominant host.
In the far side routes he's still mostly SHIKI as he's fighting it.
Near side he's mostly Roa
I'm going to get a lot of shit for this, but to be honest, I think they should just try and merge Fate and Heavens Feel into one route for the movies.
Fate largely sucks ass, but there are a lot of nice moments in it, and HF just fucking wont work as a visual medium, the pacing is so fucked.
If they just do a direct adaptation of HF, the only movie worth watching is the last one.
Thousands of years old entity, got mind-fucked by a teenager because he said three sentences. Ran away like a coward, a hallway fell on him, and he died.
Very few people realize just how badly that boss battle played out in some ways. The manga at least tried to make it look like he put up a fight.
>I think they should just try and merge Fate and Heavens Feel
Fuck off DEEN.
The characterization in general is weirdly paced in this series. It’s all done in layers.
When a character appears, they're never quite what they seems to be and at the “incredible” speed of one tiny layer at a time do you learn more about his motivaition, his background and stuff like that. This works when the character is compelling from the start (Illya, Kirei, etc). It just doesn't work for Shirou.
Shirou as he is presented to us at the start has all the personality of a wet noodle. Instead of giving us a wholesome characterization from the start so we like him, and building on the character further with plot events, instead they present a seemingly bland character and then peels off the layers which makes understanding him not a matter of presentation but rather a matter of time.
Just take Taiga’s remarks about Shirou as a kid in the latest episode. It's a waste of time to wait so long to explore this character. Instead of actually making him a good character from the very beginning, we are forced to wait for him to become bearable. Even if he becomes really interesting in the end, you still have all those episodes where he wasn’t interesting and a plottwist-like revelation about the character isn’t worth it if that’s the price the series has to pay for that.
By the 9th episode of UBW I'm thinking "How about about we wrap things up and call it a day? We all know where this is going and frankly I prefer the destination to the journey here.”
The writing just isn’t very good. The conflict between Archer and Shirou for example, it basically always boils down to one saying “Hey, you’re wrong about this shit.” and the other one saying “No, you’re wrong!”. Then Archer has to add some ominous, mysterious remarks, of course, and that’s all there is to it.
Why didn't Archer just reveal himself right then and there at Ryuudo temple so he can reveal Shirou's ideals a shit and kill him?
>I think they should just try and merge Fate and Heavens Feel into one route
Please stop talking
If they were going to do a major divergence it couldn't be anything but Ilya route
>I'm going to get a lot of shit for this, but to be honest, I think they should just try and merge Fate and Heavens Feel into one route for the movies.
Ok, I've been told that Nasu has been adding changes to UBW while it's been airing, and the changes have been received well.
What would he have to change if Fate got an adaption by UFOtable?
Is there anything that needs to change in Heaven's Feel?
>merging Fate and Heaven's Feel
What the fuck? How would you even do this?
Expanding on this a bit, one of Roa's round win animations in Melty has him transform back into his pre-vampire appearance complete with priest robe, so he obviously has some body-modification magecraft at his disposal.
Although that does bring up the question of why he didn't use it in Ciel's body, as well as the question that looms over the whole scenario of what made Roa dominant in the Near Side routes but SHIKI dominant in the Far Side.
>Ok, I've been told that Nasu has been adding changes to UBW while it's been airing, and the changes have been received well.
Ufotable will do as many movies as aniplex will fund them for. It will all probably be determined based on how well UBW does.
If they sell 50k average on UBW, they'll probably want to fund them for as many movies as the pacing allows. A successful movie brings in more money than a non-existent one.
>Is there anything that needs to change in Heaven's Feel?
According to /a/, "Kill off the main heroine before the start of the game, remove all cooking and anything else too SoL from Shirou's character, MoS is the only choice".
Honestly though, not too much. A lot of it would come across a lot easier than anyone assumes in an animated format. For example the cooking scenes in Ufotable UBW, no one even notices them despite still being there, it would be the same in HF animated.
I know everyone will be complaining when the movie does come either way, but a lot of it should flow pretty well even without any real change as long as they do it about as well as UBW. Most of the issues with HF won't be apparent when animated.
Maybe because the routes are meant to be played one after the other. Every route had something to offer and it was a good experience to have Shirou turn from a bland protagonist into someone with convictions.
>What would he have to change if Fate got an adaption by UFOtable?
The whole Saber-Shirou dynamic and Shirou's role in the story. He's such a boring backseat protag in Fate, and the "Saber you shouldn't fight" thing is just annoying.
UBW was written with the expectation that the reader has already gone through Fate route and understands the base of Shirou's character
90% of Shirou's character development is expressed internally
Ufotable pretends internal monologues don't exist
Do you see the problem?
That's plausible. I also liked how the manga did it, where he appears as SHIKI for most of the run until he nearly kills Shiki, then Roa takes over. Because you really can't deny in retrospect that there was at least some SHIKI still in there in Arc's route.
Whatever the outcome, I'm hoping it gets addressed in the remake.
SHIKI took Shiki's life force years before Tsukihime, in all routes.
>Ufotable pretends internal monologues don't exist
That's how it usually works when translating from the written word to the visual medium. Unless you want it to become a Monogatari clone.
He's presented to us as a boring shit and the fact that he isn't a boring shit but rather is incapable of not acting like a boring shit is treated like some kind of epic plot twist.
>That's how it usually works when translating from the written word to the visual medium
No, it's not. There are plenty of works that blatantly express a character's thoughts to the viewer/audience. I'm not saying it should be Monogatari, but Ufotable largely failing to express Shirou's thoughts and development through some alternative method has a negative impact on the story.
It's far more common for something to omit the internal monologue. And that isn't just true for anime. But usually, it ends up being detrimental. Look at Blade Runner, and see just how much better the Director's Cut (with internal noir-style monologue) is than the original release.
