>Stronger >Faster >Is a total bro >Can for a fact play video games >Probably watches anime >Isn't going to do stupid shit because of some code >Will probably punch you in the face if you gave him a "You need a serious reason to fight" speech
>>116840228 It's part of the myth that he looks terrible and ugly as he lays dying. “It likes me well to see thee in that plight, O Diarmuid,” said Finn; “and I grieve that all the women of Erin are not now gazing upon thee: for thy excellent beauty is turned to ugliness, and thy choice form to deformity.”
>>116839973 I found myself very satisfied by how the show presented his exit. While it is true that the dishonorable way he was defeated leaves the actual combat between Saber and Lancer unsatisfying, the final scene of his really hammered home his bitterness and resentment for the entire Grail War, and for the first time I felt he let all his chivalry go and was truly honest to everyone watching. He is filled with hate and sadness, betrayed by fate over and over, and there is no more goodwill in his heart for the realms of men.
>>116843522 I agree with this. Cu's fun and everything, but Diarmuid felt many times more authentic in his resentment for everyone and everything in his last moments. It had more impact to me and it gave Diarmuid dimension. By comparison, Cu feels a little one-note.
It's pretty shitty to hate on Deermud by virtue of comparing his last moments to Cu's.
The contexts are totally different.
Diarmuid and Saber had reached and understanding and a mutual desire to duel as knights. They wanted to represent their masters, be depended on by them. But instead those masters spit on their values, held no trust in them, and did things in their own way. He rightfully felt that both what he and Saber held most dear had been betrayed by the people they swore fealty to. This hit him particularly close to home. Why shouldn't he be resentful?
Cu, on the other hand, got to kill Kirei and save the girl. He was able to prevent a repeat of what happened to Bazett while also avenging her (and avenging his own pride, given the cowardice that he felt Kirei forced upon him). After behaving like such a villain for so long, he got to play the hero as he feels is right. That was probably his happiest moment during the entire damn Grail War.
They both died from being ordered to kill themselves, but Du spent his last moments crying like a bitch, while Cu spent them KILLING KOTOMINE AND WOUNDING SHINJI holy shit.
Fate keeps screwing him, but he takes it like a man and keeps on doing the best he can given the circumstances. Unlike archer who takes out his angst on Shirou even though he knows it won't change anything.
>>116844569 Zero tried to be so dark and gloomy that it missed its VN side of sprinkles of SoL/Comedic events. People watch that show and get blown away just because of the animation but missed the mark of being entertaining like that VN, hell even Deen's fiasco.
I don't have a problem with people liking Diarmuid less than Cu, really. But holding the way he went out against him is pretty lame, as far as I'm concerned.
Personally, I like them both a lot. Wouldn't call either of them shit by any means. They're pretty different though, so it makes sense for people who have a taste for a rogue like Cu wouldn't care for a more of a strictly knightly lancer.
My issue is that when each of the Servants are separately portrayed with their Masters, there is a good balance in terms of drama and also how believable it is. When paired against each other, it becomes much more like a typical anime or videogame, and loses some of the unique qualities the show has. This is fine for action sequences, especially when they're supposed to be cool and exciting instead of dramatic and classy, but I just hope it's not something that is too frequent.
>>116844569 Shirou's ideal while similar to Kiritsugu isn't the same, while Kerry abandoned everything including his dream of being a hero to achieve a miracle of no conflict. This story follows Shirou's journey into becoming a hero (similar to super hero, champion of justice that kind that simply goes around saving lives and attempts minimal to zero casualties), while not existing in a world half as idealistic as in such stories. Basically he's following Kerry's original path and dream as shown in the epilogue of F/Z.
That's why F/Z serves as the prequel of F/SN it thematically sets it up.
>>116845681 Correct me if I'm wrong. But his power is only to be able to hit the heart without fail, or some shit. With his gay bulge or whatever. Kyouko has a ton of barrier magic, she can protect her soul gem if he's aiming for it.
>>116845777 You're implying her "barrier magic" can defend against a Noble Phantasm.
Lancer's Gae Bolg managed to pierce through six layers of Archer's Aias, a conceptual armament that boasts "absolute defense against thrown weapons". According to Archer, it's even superior to Gungnir, the spear owned by Odin, the head god of the Norse pantheon.
>>116846423 No, but he does has Striking Death Flight, which is basically a javelin throw capable of piercing through the conceptual equivalent of seven fortress walls in one shot and has a carpetbomb effect that will effectively skewer anything with unlimited thorns in a fifty yard radius.
>discernment of the poor one of the best and most practical skills >kavacha and kundal reduces all damage to its 10th >vasavi shakti Anti god nuke >prana burst flame >unquestionable loyalty. will never NTR you like Deermud
>>116846481 A normal person can run 100 yards in 13-14 seconds. It's safe to say a super powered magic girl could run 50 yards in three or less. So are we assuming she's stuck to the ground and doesn't see it coming until it's literally hitting her? >>116846587 It a good distance away from her heart. And I'm fairly sure his gay bulge is somewhat narrow.
>>116846864 I've explained why he wouldn't be able to beat her. Going "Yes he can!" doesn't really prove anything. >>116846881 Did you even read the post you linked? >Kyouko has a ton of barrier magic, she can protect her soul gem if he's aiming for it.
>>116847030 She's not human, no more than a servant. Plus, Kyouko's the strongest melee based meguca. She wouldn't just let him hit her soul gem. So barriers on top of her avoiding him means he's pretty much fucked.
>>116847097 You're forgetting that Servants can and regularly do move faster than humans can perceive them, and Madoka never had trouble perceiving any magical girl fights as a human. Presumably he could spear her through the soul gem immediately after she transforms.
Why even aim for Kyouko's soul gem? All he has to do is wail on her until her magic runs dry, which would happen much quicker anyway if she's constantly having to maintain barriers against him. Lancers are known for being mana efficient and Cu is resilient as anything, all he needs to do is smoke her out.
>You're forgetting that Servants can and regularly do move faster than humans can perceive them, and Madoka never had trouble perceiving any magical girl fights as a human.
The point is that magical girls obviously aren't fighting at the speed humans do because Madoka can perceive them just fine, whereas Servants move fast enough that a human like Madoka would have trouble seeing them. Thus Servants are probably a lot faster than magical girls are.
I'm not interested in power level discussion, but I wanna clarify something about Gae Bolg
Striking Death Flight can't miss. It doesn't remove causality, but it does have the property of always striking regardless of how many times it's dodged. It will hit its target, but not necessarily the heart. Its range extends to tens of kilometers, perhaps more. He's never needed more. Its destructive power is immense, as well. It would likely damage the soul gem no matter how you cut it.
It's the real ultimate form of Gae Bolg, very far from inferior to the thrust that always hits the heart.
>>116847319 Because she's presumably going to be trying to hit him him as well. They both not just standing there letting their mana run dry. >>116847372 I didn't misread that, I just dismissed it. Because we never actually get Madoka's perspective on a fight between two magic girls. She never once comments on a fight. Homura and Mami move fast enough to avoid bullets at one point, which is well past human perception. And Kyouko's a better melee fighter than both of them. >>116847386 Source? >>116847403 If his anus is penetrable then his skin barrier must not be very effective. I call a plot whole. Plus how would he get Kyouko in the position.
>>116847603 Source is the VN. It's right there in the SDF's description. And about the anus stabbing, no positioning is needed, that's not how Gay Bulge works. You just turn it on and the target is already stabbed in the most effecient way.
>>116847403 Deer Mound defeated a giant that wast at least five time his size, that could be defeated only by his own mace that was as big if not bigger than Deer Mound by dodging hits like a boss, wrestling the mace from the giant's hands and then beating the shit out of him until his brain popped of his skull, all of this because Grainne wanted do eat some berries, and he was no sissy child of light/son of the gods Gary Stu.
Choo Choo Train is cool and all but Deer Mound has more charm.
>>116848532 >Not knowing of Cu's fucking wit charming Emer while he was right in front of her father by being cryptic about his flirting. Are you fucking kidding me? Cu is 100 times more charming, and not because of a fucking cursed mole.
>>116848743 >Diar's bowing to Grainne's every whim is not all that charming in the long run.
So just like Cu getting himself fucked in the ass by geis like the famous dog meat one in The Death of Cu Chulainn? Both have their dumb moments, Deer even let Finn indirectly kill him because of muh knighthood and Cu got tricked just as much as he tricked others.
Deer is cool because he's a normal badass human that can do superhuman feats and is stubbornly loyal and true to his words to the end, Cu has the charm of the half god trickster with bad luck.
Saying that one is better than the other is stupid since they're too different, but somehow most of the Cufags seem to forget this and bash Deerfags relentlessly only because of muh Kotomine scene. Fate Deer is cool because he's a bro with a kind heart and muh loyalty, Cu is cool because he's kind of a dick but a bro deep inside, both have their good moments, both have unique qualities. If you want to make Lancer comparisons at least take SN/Lancer and Proto/Lancer or Extra/Cu since they share the same concept, everything else is just stupid.
It's like you guys are forgetting what Gay Bulge even does. No amount of protection can protect you from it. As soon as the words are said, you're stabbed. This is fact. How this happens is not important, only the stabbing part is. The laws of physics, time and the universe will bend themselves so that Lancers spear will pierce the heart, because the piercing has already happened, before the lance even moved.
Kyoko can use her barriers, yes. But if lancer used Gay Bulge, they would just twist and make an opening for his lance.
>>116850798 >The laws of physics, time and the universe will bend themselves so that Lancers spear will pierce the heart Only if it has higher conceptual power than what it's up against, or you know, Bad Luck.
