I found myself very satisfied by how the show presented his exit. While it is true that the dishonorable way he was defeated leaves the actual combat between Saber and Lancer unsatisfying, the final scene of his really hammered home his bitterness and resentment for the entire Grail War, and for the first time I felt he let all his chivalry go and was truly honest to everyone watching. It's pretty shitty to hate on Deermud by virtue of comparing his last moments to Cu's.

The contexts are totally different.

Diarmuid and Saber had reached and understanding and a mutual desire to duel as knights. They wanted to represent their masters, be depended on by them. But instead those masters spit on their values, held no trust in them, and did things in their own way. He rightfully felt that both what he and Saber held most dear had been betrayed by the people they swore fealty to. This hit him particularly close to home. Why shouldn't he be resentful?

Cu, on the other hand, got to kill Kirei and save the girl. He was able to prevent a repeat of what happened to Bazett while also avenging her (and avenging his own pride, given the cowardice that he felt Kirei forced upon him). After behaving like such a villain for so long, he got to play the hero as he feels is right. That was probably his happiest moment during the entire damn Grail War.

Why WOULDN'T Cu be less bitter and resentful?

My issue is that when each of the Servants are separately portrayed with their Masters, there is a good balance in terms of drama and also how believable it is. When paired against each other, it becomes much more like a typical anime or videogame, and loses some of the unique qualities the show has. This is fine for action sequences, especially when they're supposed to be cool and exciting instead of dramatic and classy, but I just hope it's not something that is too frequent.

Why even aim for Kyouko's soul gem? All he has to do is wail on her until her magic runs dry, which would happen much quicker anyway if she's constantly having to maintain barriers against him. Lancers are known for being mana efficient and Cu is resilient as anything, all he needs to do is smoke her out.
