Irrelevant. TE is the stepping point age wants to use to get into the mainstream for mecha fans, and wants the same audience and consumer base that Gundam and Macross has.

How do you think logically they would canonically have Yuuya end up with his blood-related half-sister?

Seriously think about this.

>>111767730
Well, in a general view, most incest ends I've seen feel like asspulls.
But in TE, Yui never actually told him, did she? Even though she even gave him the family sword and specified it is always passed down to the master of the household, he was all "Yeah ok thanks" and didn't understand at all what she was trying to tell him.
So, hypothetically, she could decide that her romantic feelings are more important than anything else, never tell him anything and propose while wrestling with taboo.
Such an action would brand her as selfish, self-centered, manipulative, stuff like that and maybe create a backlash. But it wouldn't be the first, and certainly not the last, time the most selfish and manipulative girl "won" in a mecha anime. The Gundam fanbase is especially used to it by now.

I've always had this feeling that Yui was never meant to be blood-related to Yuuya but they decided to shove in the half-sibling story in the VN when it came out. That and the whole food thing was meant to signal Yuuya slowing accepting his Japanese side and/or was a mere coincident that Yui's cooking style matched his.

>Yuuya likes the same meal his mother cooked, because his Japanese father taught it to his mother
>Characters in the LN comment they look like siblings
It doesn't take a genius to realize the sibling plot point was always intentional on Kouki's part. They both have their dad's missing, they both happen to share the "same" exact favorite home-cooked style meal.

If they include a Yui route in the PC version, that'd be pretty boss with the incest implications.

I see it differently. Cryska tripping a million deathflags is what confirms her victory. Since the main heroine needs to die because that's the next step in attempting to mimic Alternative's plot beats.
>begin far away from the front lines

Yuuya was capable of taking out multiple Raptor pilots while out-numbered with a Eagle.

He was hot shit, the problem was American TSFs are not compatible to Japanese TSFs. That was one of the sillier points of the story, that Yui expected Yuuya to automatically accustom to Japanese TSFs instantly and doesn't account for the fact American and Japanese Eishi train their whole lives for a specific type of piloting.

A major subplot is Yuuya coming to terms with his Japanese heritage, so I thought that the next step would be falling for the Japanese girl,.
So yes, I was surprised. Pleasantly if I might add, as I liked Cryska best and there was really no need to drive the point past home.
>>
>>111776001
Everyone forecasted Cryska winning with 99% of crossover appereances between TE and Alt placing Yui overwhelmingly with Meiya and Cryska with Sumika.

Not too mention her appearances on the illustrative art and promotional works with Yuuya was less then either Scarlet Twin.
>>
>>111774939
I've always wondered why people say TE is shit and spat in the face of MLverse when it was very similar to MLA in both narrative and execution.
>>
>>111776301
It was just based off how low budget the anime was, the bad pacing, and the one real negative factor for TE being it blends all of the good and BAD elements from Extra/Unlimited/Alt into one compressed story.

LNs are good, TE Rising manga is great, VN was nice but should've had more content and the budgeting issues come into play with a lot of incomplete stuff like having to have briefing scenes overlayed in space or on the sky because they didn't have the time or money to do it the same they did in Alt.
>>
>>111776301
Anime because it was low budget, badly paced, and had poor cinematography (to list one example, all those times the BETA just ran on the spot and didn't actually get any closer, or when the TSFs seemed to be firing at nothing since there was no visible impact of their shots on any BETA like in this shot towards the start of episode 13, the Grapplers are literally standing there and the Zuikakus are firing and not appearing to actually hit anything, we don't see the path of any tracers or anything), wonky pacing like how stretched-out the whole "Yuuya learns to not fly a Zero the way he would fly a Hellcat" thing was, or having two beach episodes instead of one even though absolutely nothing happened in those episodes, or four whole episodes in a row when they made you think that the BETA were right outside the base when it actually took four episodes for them to get there, or how long they spent on useless filler shit in between fighting Miku and the terrorist attack, etc.
VN because they only read a synopsis instead of reading it themselves
>>

Yuuya actually mastered the Shiranui ridiculously quickly when he learned to stop being stubborn and hung-up over his daddy issues and actually took into account the differences in design philosophy instead of continuing to complain that the engines were underpowered or the aerodynamic control surfaces were too sensitive.

>Point was, Yui criticisms were designed to be necessarily harsh and unrealistic to egg and piss Yuuya off to prove her wrong.
Except that his idea of proving her wrong was to try and prove the entire basis of Japanese mecha design was fundamentally incorrect.

Though the point he tries to make is not wrong in my opinion, making your army's mainline machine one that is difficult to control extends time needed for training before a trainee can become competent, it raises the minimum standards that a recruit needs to meet in order to become a trainee to fly TSFs, and it increases the number of casualties caused by pilot error.

It's the difference between making a weapon intended for a soldier, and a weapon intended for a samurai.

It's actually mentioned in TSFIA later that the end result of marrying high powered American-made General Electric engines to the Shiranui's design to create the Shiranui Second was a machine that was

>nearly impossible to pilot effectively without a skilled and experienced veteran at its controls. But in the hands of such pilots, who are able to bring out the true performance of these untamed horses, become an unmatched force of nature of nearly unstoppable proportions.

In other words, in my opinion, a piss-poor choice for an extensively mass-produced flagship mainline fighter for the grunts of the Imperial Army.

No, that's the UN.

IJA gets Kagerous and Shiranuis, the Valkyries only got Shiranuis because of Yuuko's connections and political alliances. Average grunt in the UN at best gets a Strike Eagle, most of the Gekishins we saw in Alt were used by UN forces.
>>
>>111777888
Veteran Eishi are a minority in TSF forces. Put two and two together.
>>
>>111778003
That still does nothing to make them bad mechs or
>expensive coffins

I'm not seeing the logic here.
>>
>>111773806

You know what the weird thing about the Princess Lover anime was? The main character of the anime was actually WAY better! The show still sucked, yeah, but Teppei as a motorcycle-riding samurai was way more interesting than the total faggot he is in the game.

Walkure Romanze is weird in that the protagonist of the game is basically the nicest guy ever. In the anime, he's a cypher.
>>
>>111777947
>IJA gets Kagerous and Shiranuis
They only procured about 200 Kagerous in total. They still have plenty of Gekishins. Remember the Imperial Army Gekishins we see standing alongside the Kagerous when they showed up and surrounded Yokohama Base during Sagiri's coup? Or the Gekishins painted in Imperial Army gray that were rescued by Ikaruga and Tsukuyomi at Sadogashima? Or the Imperial Army Gekishin units you control in Faraway Dawn.
>>
>>111778125
I didn't say IJA doesn't use Gekishins or had phased them out yet but the Fubuki was in a transitory stage to replace the Gekishin.

The average IJN Eishi is still more likely to have a Shiranui or Kagerou or vanilla Eagle then the Gekishin. Japanese UN forces besides Yuuko's Valkyries all had quasi-3rd gen Eagles and Gekishins.
>>
>>111777888
It's why the world decided guns were better than longbows.
>>
>>111778065
Because a veteran pilot whose survived longer hours in both training and combat gets to know the inns and outs of their TSF, its movements, its performance, how to push it and when not to push it, and so on.

A rookie doesn't. Yuuya's argument was they were making it too technically complex for the average new Eishi to master.
>>
>>111778065
Not everyone in your army is a veteran, every frontline fighter in muv-luv needs a mecha, have a mecha that only veterans can use effectively leads to either a lot of wasted mecha destroyed by rookie error or a frontline of veterans only that will leave you with a shortage of experienced pilots pretty damn fast.

It's fine if you do a more limited production run for your specially trained veteran shock units or spec ops forces or something. The Imperial Royal Guard is doing great with their Takemis (even if production is so slow that there's still Guardsmen using Zuikakus)
But taking a machine that you need extensive experience in to use properly and trying to make it the backbone of your forces is only asking for trouble. It makes it take longer for a cadet to learn how to use it, which increases training time and costs, and will likely get inexperienced pilots killed more easily than if they had a less complex machine.
Look how crossbows displaced longbows and changed the face of archery in warfare.

>>111778197
>the Fubuki was in a transitory stage to replace the Gekishin.
IIRC they're only considering it, they're not actually doing it yet.
It's supposed to be on its way out but since you don't just throw away perfectly working machines, there are still very many Gekishins in the army, they're just slated to be pulled away from the frontlines and put on guard duty instead.
>vanilla Eagle
IJA doesn't have vanilla Eagles man. Only Kagerous as far as the F-15 frame is concerned.
>>
>>111778566
>multiple waifus

>>111778593
No, they are planning it and going to implement it in the near future. The Fubuki simply needs a more powerful engine and the IJN hasn't settled yet on what replacement to use.
>>
>>111778593
Kagerou is a vanilla Eagle, it just has a modified OS to allow it to use melee halberds and engage in close-combat more effectively.

Its a variant of the normal Eagle made and tailored for Japanese use, no other performance difference with the normal F-15. The Strike Eagle on the other hands, is a different beast.

>Fubuki was in a transitory stage to replace the Gekishin.
You mean the Shiranui. Why would they be replacing the Gekishit with training units? And the only thing it lacks apart from the Shiranui is the fuel capacity
>>
>>111778683
Well, the way >>111778197 phrased it implied that the IJA had both F-15J and F-15C and considered them separate.
>>
>>111778719
No, its the Gekishin.

The Shiranui is being eventually phased out by the Shiranui Second once the experimental stage with the prototype Nigatas is done being fielded by the Not-Valkyries.

The Gekishin is going to be replaced by combat ready Fubukis, which will supplement the Kagerous, Shiranuis, Shiranui Seconds (near future), and a special usage of Gekkous.

>>111778761
They are. According to IW, the Japanese did not have Strike Eagles, which is why the rebels were surprised American Strike Eagles were holding their own against the Shiranui.
>>
>>111778566
Inia > all the rest
>>
>>111778719
>And the only thing it lacks apart from the Shiranui is the fuel capacity
The main thing it lacks compared to the Shiranui is being a decent fighter.

Seriously in Faraway Dawn it has less AP than the goddamn Gekishin and is only partially offset by its lower turning cost. It also has poorer HP than the Kagerou, poorer armor than the Kagerou, and poorer than the Kagerou.

To be a decent fighter it needs better engines, better fuel capacity, and better armor.

>>111778890
The funny part is that the Shiranuis were supposed to be replacing the Gekishins. They haven't even finished replacing the Gekishins yet and they want to replace the Shiranuis. Which leads to this situation where the Shiranuis will be replaced by Seconds and the Gekishins may be replaced by upgraded Fubukis. Will the Fubukis eventually be replaced by Seconds too?

>>111778890
>They are. According to IW, the Japanese did not have Strike Eagles, which is why the rebels were surprised American Strike Eagles were holding their own against the Shiranui.
No, the Japanese have the F-15J Kagerou. They do not have the vanilla F-15C Eagle. Although the F-15J is basically an F-15C with reinforced joints to support the repetitive controlled crashing that is melee combat. Both are inferior the American F-15E Strike Eagle.

Now imagine an alternate universe where they just manufactured the F-15J under license to replace their Gekishins.
Then say in 2002 they take up Boening's offer to buy the license to manufacture F-15SEJs.
Think of all the R&D costs they've saved compared to going with Shiranuis.

The F-15J is literally the F-15C converted for domestic use by the Japanese. You have the equivalent Eagle with the same or similar OS for melee combat used by UN and European forces as well.

>>111779169
The Shiranui uses parts from the Type-00C, the Shiranui 1C was never fully integrated either and the Takemikazuchis main difference in performance is due to the availability of replacement parts and avionics.

Japan literally is less organized then any major power besides the Chinese.

Why doesn't Yuuya just shut up and do his goddamn job?
There are reasons the Japanese prefer this oversensitive control setup and high maneuverability - you would need those for TSFs focused on melee combat. As a test pilot Yuuya's is supposed to understanding the end user's requirements and ensure the product meets those requirements, not yell as loudly as he can that the customers are morons. As the Shiranui Second's test pilot he's supposed to run the machine through specific flight maneuvers to gather data on its flight characteristics and push the envelope to make sure the machine is working as it was supposed to.
Instead he is dead set that the Japanese TSFs are inferior, shitty, and that it isn't his fault he can't make it work but the machine's fault for being Japanese and not American.

If a white officer were to say to a mixed race soldier that they were an embarrassment to white people, he'd be under charges so fast heads would spin. If Yuuya were to make a formal complaint about racism, he would be justified. Furthermore, this has absolutely nothing to do with the task at hand, which is the XFJ project. What the fuck does being Japanese - or not Japanese - have to do with the flight tests?

THE SHIRANUI SECOND WAS MODELED AFTER AMERICAN TSF'S

Wasn't it even built by NOT Boeing?
>>
>>111784469
Buy the kit.
>>
>>111784751
The Shiranui Second was an attempt to upgrade the Shiranui, which the Japanese failed at doing themselves. It was a joint between not Mitsubishi, Fuji, Kawasaki, and Boeing. Which is to say, it was Mitsubishi, Fuji, and Kawasaki begging Boeing for help.

The first phase was basically a Shiranui 1C with American-manufactured high efficiency components and high power General Electric FE140-GE-100 engines to improve uptime and engine power.

The second phase was when Boeing shoved in all stuff they learned from building the Active Eagle like AESA radar, IR acquisition, auxilliary thrusters, faster mount pylons etc.

At the time he was bitching about the Shiranui, Yuuya was still flying the Phase 1 where most of the changes made were upgraded internal components. The actual airframe and overall design is still 100% Japanese.
>>
>>111784601
Thanks for the laugh.

>>111785075
The Shiranui 1C Phase 1 was Yuuya adjusting to it after a lot of the hardware was changed. Namely not-Boeing replacing its boost engines and internal avionics.

Which saw a 15% increase in performance and a 30% increase in structural integrity and durability. Its comparable to the Type-00C at this point.

The reason why the standard Shiranui 1C didn't replace the Shiranui as even a "commander" type TSF was because it was as complicated to repair and maintain as the Takemikazuchis.

A finky machine barely under control is a terrible design, and this is shit they should be looking to eliminate. Not embracing due to some cultural jingoism. Yui comes off looking like a nationalist zealot while Yuuya appears to be looking at things from a rational military perspective as an easier to control and pilot machine will speed pilot training, reduce accidents, and improve combat effectiveness by allowing the pilot to just fly, not worry about keeping the machine in check.

Take the Hellcat in WWII. It was an unremarkable fighter in all areas except that it was legendary easy to fly even at the edge of its performance, and rugged. This allowed even average pilots to push it safely which in combat resulted in better performance. The pilot focused on the fight, not on keeping his aircraft under control or worrying it would fall apart on him. Japanese Zeroes were repeatedly trounced by it do to their unreliable mechanicals and weak build even though they were supposed to be super super twitchy and maneuverable in a dogfight.

It would appear that in ML the Japanese learned very little from WWII.

This is also the entire point of modern fly by wire systems. If the Japanese TSF are unstable and require active pilot work to keep functional that’s a design flaw plain and simple. The control system is incompetently designed and no up to spec, they should keep the machine stable and simply allow the pilot to focus on the fight. The Japanese seem to have come to blindly accept the idiocy of requiring a pilot to fight his machine for control in some misguided “warrior spirit" bullshit.

Yui then resorts to nonsensical bullshit about how old pilots made due with worse, as if this somehow excuses the bad design. This is like arguing that we should accept a modern car without seatbelt or airbags because “old drivers survived without those”.

Why don’t you just go run at some BETA with a bloody katanah then? It was good enough for your ancestors.

>>111785638
This brings to mind a quote by the leading Jet ace post World War II Epstein when lamenting the switch over to 4th generation fighters with fly by wire systems:

>You are not flying F-16, F-16 flies itself from its computer. You are only one of many inputs to the computer of the F-16. Me myself, as a pilot, I need the feelings. I need to enjoy the flight, and in F-16… you miss it. It’s not exactly the same. With the Mirage every flight is enjoyable, F-16 you can have unbelievable achievements, but the feeling is not the same.

This kind of wistful nostalgia appears to be the driving force behind Japanese TSF philosophy going by Yui's nonsense about how "a man and his horse are one", so no wonder their stuff got plowed in the ass by the Strike Eagle and the Raptor in the 12/5 Incident. Too bad Yuuya got a taste of that feeling while swordfighting Yui and it gave him the strangest boner and he got addicted.

The fact that Yui was flying fatass 1G fighters throughout her flashbacks which are much less overwrought and finicky compared to the homegrown Japanese Fubuki makes the whole thing much more hilariously hypocritical. She never had to master the Fubuki herself, she was trained in Gekishins, so she doesn't get to criticize Yuuya for not doing the same.

I don't get what this guy is trying to say.
The existence of the Shiranui came from the fact that 1 F-4J was able to take out 2 F-15s, which provided substance to the argument that Japanese Eishis need Japanese TSFs to fight with, in order to bring out their full potential.

Also, this applied to everyone around the world, since the Europeans, the Chinese, the Soviets, the Middle easterns all went on to divert away from American designs, because they know what is needed to fight the BETA. Even the Americans came up with a close combat design, but since it didn't fit in with what they saw as their combat doctrine, they went with the F-22.
>>
>>111799213
Read it again then. That anon is basically saying an easy to use machine is better than a hard to use machine. And the whole reason why the rest of the world switched to melee designs is because their supply situation is crap. The US doesn't need melee as much because, just like in real life, they have good logistics. What is needed to fight the BETA isn't some kind of melee design but an actual working logistics system. Range is always superior to melee when fighting BETA.
>>
>>111799213
The Marine Corps emphasizes close-quarters-combat and melee fighting skills for their Eishi heavily, going by the TSFiA and the TDA series.

Same with a couple squadrons in the US Army, like the training flight of US veteran Eishi who were some elite unit that the Infinites embarrassed because of the Raptors' stealth superiority.

The reason Americans don't put a heavy emphasis and actually shy away from modifying the OS of their TSFs or refining dedicated close-combat weapons is because the war is still an abstract thing to the US.

The BETA dominate Europe, Asia, the Near East/Middle East, hit Japan, and is being held off from entering North Africa. North America is untouched (barring a certain nuclear wasteland in Canada). So the war is approached from a detached tactical and strategic vantage.

If Canada was taken and the Northern borders of the US were barely holding, their approach to close combat would be muuuuuch different.
>>
>>111799923
That's precisely the part that makes no sense. To a person who has never touched a TSF before, how can it be hard to use? Once they have learnt it, can they not move it the way they want it to and get more performance out of it? It's like you're saying since there are automatic cars and manual cars, and manual cars are hard to learn, there's no need to make or learn to use manual cars at all. However, any driver can tell you that manual cars will always perform better and fast than manual ones.

And for your other point, the US is not involved in most of the conflicts around the world. They only get involved when they have an ensured logistics trail, so its like they only fight when they can win. Otherwise, they just pull out. American Heroes are made when the pilots refuse to pull out despite orders, and continue to fight beyond the supply line.

>>111800442
The Marine Corps trains to be more proficient at knife level combat...which isn't the same thing as melee with a sword. It's meant to serve as a secondary attack, not as a primary attack. However, as mentioned above, at least the Marines, which are nearly the only American forces that are fighting the BETA, know how to engage the BETA with nothing but a bar of steel in their hands.

Are you fucking stupid? There is a difference between something that was designed for someone to be able to use with a month of training versus something that would take an entire year to master. Do you not realize they are fighting a war of survival in which they are losing? They do not have the leisure to spend years mastering a TSF. In this situation a TSF that someone could learn to use with minimal training is for more important in saving humanity's ass than something that takes years to learn how to use. In battle, one dude would be able to use their TSF fine and survive while the other dude can barely control it and as a result, gets fucking chomped.
>>
>>111800889

The Marines have the Hornet/Super Hornet. And the Army has the Eagle, Strike Eagle, Falcon, and Raptor.

Have you taken your pills, anon?

Dude, learn to fucking read. Realize that the humans are fighting a war of attrition in which they are LOSING. They do not have time to wait for pilots to master their TSFs. They need them now to replenish their losses. Again, they do not have time to waste. One TSF, an American one, takes a month to master while another one, a Japanese one, takes a year to master. To contain the BETA, they have to brought to the frontlines in six months. In six months, when they are brought into combat, the American TSF has been mastered while the Japanese one has not. In other words, one dude survives and one dude gets chomped. You get it now?
>>

All I get is that you are making baseless assumptions about things you know nothing about. Show me where it states everything you dreamed of about TSF training in your post.

I don't understand that part. The Zuikaku being able to take out the Eagle was almost a miracle born out of unconventional use of tactics. The Eagles won all subsequent matches and even in that first match it was evident that the Eagles were capable of flying circles around the Zuikakus.
>>
>>111800722
>And for your other point, the US is not involved in most of the conflicts around the world.
I think you missed the part where the US Army is heavily garrisoned in frontline bases all over the world to fight alongside local forces, and the Navy's carrier battle groups and the Marines are stationed all over the world and frequently fight on the front lines alongside the locals.

>They only get involved when they have an ensured logistics trail, so its like they only fight when they can win. Otherwise, they just pull out.
There is nothing to suggest that they just drop everything and run away the moment supply lines are disrupted, stop talking out of your ass. The situation in the BETA invasion of Japan was completely untenable and even Isumi agreed that withdrawing was the correct strategic decision.
Besides, if you do run out of ammo and fuel and absolutely cannot be resupplied, falling back is the correct decision to make. Fighting without supplies is just begging to be wiped out. This has consistently been the case since antiquity.
>>
>>111801186
>They don't. really exist given how they don't possess any TSFs and are relegated to high altitude observation or strategic bombing.
>They exist only in name.
The US Air Force has over 1200 strategic bombers, that's quite a bit more than "in name only". This is not counting the fact that they're responsible for the US armed forces' heavy transport aircraft.

Dude, it's not even about close combat or long range combat, it's about how the Shiranui is a bastard to handle because it's too goddamn twitchy. TSFIA#26 Heritage of Valkyries explicitly states that the Shiranui Second is impossible to fly effectively without a skilled and experienced veteran.
And in a long-standing war of attrition, skilled and experienced veterans are exactly what you don't have that many of.

I'm surprised at how positively the US is portrayed in MLA. Coming from series like Majikoi or Mahouka, where the US is portrayed as incompetent at best or villainous at worst, it's actually quite refreshing.
>>
>>111806863
>Positively the US is portrayed in MLA.
The US' existence and role in Muv-Luv is neutral at best, and that's probably intentional.

>US is Japan's greatest ally and greatest enemy
>Alt V supporters are primarily based and connected in the US
>Conspirators, operatives, and assassins who are Anti-Alt IV or Anti-Alt plans in general are largely used by the CIA for its own gains in both domestic and foreign affairs
>The one likable American character (Walken) does not survive past the 12/5 incident/coup arc and is killed by his own side while Japanese nationalism is shoved in the reader's face
The side material and expansion to the settings like TE and TSFiA short stories are what makes America likable.

The point was made that a locally modified lower generation TSF was able to stand on par with the newer models. The Eagle pilots were shocked at the F-4Js movements as well if you recall. The Eagles only won later through steer horsepower, but was still defeated by someone who used the TSF to its max potential, which is the core of the entire debate over American verses Japan TSFs.

>>111806324
>Garrisoned well behind the front lines launching hit and run strikes from BVR while the front is being held by the local forces
>True Americans in the Navy sit in TSF carriers and sortie on long range assaults on targets of opportunities, returning when bingo fuel and ammo. Potential Americans are made to fight on the front lines with the locals.
Sure, they're fighting with the locals...at about 5 mins at a time.

>Americans pulling out of the Defense of Germany when the wall came down. A-10s refusing to pull back.
>All other battles where the logistic trail cannot be confirmed is fought by non-American armies.
>Back chatter btw pilots in written stories all take about how the US and UN can't get a stick out of their ass to fight a real war.
Dude, you're the one with your head in the skies. Try viewing the situation from the viewpoint of the ones having to fight without knowing when they'll be resupplied. That's what the swords are for, to stretch out the ammo.

>>111806523
And can you tell me which TSF can be flown effectively at its max potential without a skilled veteran at its controls? She is only saying what every pilot or driver with a high performance machine would say. If you assume that means that normal or new pilots won't be able to use them at all, you're absolutely wrong, because in that case, the F-22 can be used by any rookie from the get go with 100% effectiveness.
>>
>>111807048
I was actually talking about TE and side material, but okay.

I'll still argue that the US wasn't portrayed as negatively as most anime/vn/manga/ln works though.
>>
>>111806324
>even Isumi agreed that withdrawing was the correct strategic decision.
Saying that it's correct strategically and saying that she agreed with what they did are two different things, jackass. If you called in a friend to help defend your home, and later he leaves midway through the battle cause the other side got more men than you and he's out of bullets, are you going to give him a thumbs up and say good thinking in front of the corpses of your family?
>>
>>111807568
And later, when you get a few other friends to come and help take back your home, he drops by and detonates a couple of C4 without your leave, turning the remains of your home into splinters and killing off your friends and what remains of your family. He shrugs and says you weren't going to win anyway, so might as well.
>>
>>111807162
>And can you tell me which TSF can be flown effectively at its max potential without a skilled veteran at its controls?
The Gekkou is stated in Continental Fighters to be an attractive alternative to the Second not just because of stealth, but also because of superior ease of handling.

>Americans pulling out of the Defense of Germany when the wall came down. A-10s refusing to pull back.
Except there is nothing in TSFIA#39 to suggest that. Everything it says regarding the matter is that the US is fighting heavily alongside the Germans to set up a line of defense and hold off the BETA long enough for the refugees to get out, and the A-10s were not there against orders but under them.
>All other battles where the logistic trail cannot be confirmed is fought by non-American armies.
Probably because the stories aren't America-centric.
>Back chatter btw pilots in written stories all take about how the US and UN can't get a stick out of their ass to fight a real war.
For example? And don't cite that thing where its said that people think "oh how typically American" regarding their tactical doctrine which only works if you can maintain the supply of bullets and relief squadrons.
>>
>>111807162
>The Eagle pilots were shocked at the F-4Js movements as well if you recall.
They weren't shocked by the F-4J Kais' movements. They just noted "heh pretty nimble for a fat chicken". What they were shocked by was that one of them blocked their paintballs with a katanah and therefore wasn't 'dead' when they expected it to be.
>>
>>111807162
>returning when bingo fuel and ammo
What's wrong with returning when bingo fuel and ammo? What kind of moron stays out there and fights without fuel or weapons?
>>
>>111807963
>>111807162
Also you missed the part where part of American tactical doctrine is that when a unit has to withdraw to refuel and rearm, another unit is right there behind them to relieve their position, so it's not like they just give up and leave.

Ease of handling by a superior pilot. so your point is moot.

The US A-10s were ordered to pull back, not ordered to stay. They went against those orders.

Even during the Hive operations organized by the UN and as part of the Alternative plans? You will note that the ones who achieved things that were worthy of mention on the frontlines were never Americans, though they should have been fighting side by side with the locals, according to you.

And you're asking me to give an example but say don't quote those examples. Other than in Raindancers and TDA00, its in Adoration, several TSFiAs, Resurrection and the main TDA stories, Schwarzesmarken, and especially Eurofront.

>>111807866
And that proves that Japan should make TSFs of their own how? The fact that their local unit had the capacity to block it was part of the prove as well. And being surprised at the speed played a big part since they were expecting the performance of an average American F-4.

>>111807963
Then make sure you have weapons, idiot. That was the whole point of making non American TSFs that had non-ammo based fighting potential.

>>111808002

Honor will just make you go "Ninponjin banzai" while you suicide thinking it will do anything and it doesn't even slow down the enemy, and fighting for revenge just makes you reckless and uncaring of how you may compromise your squad, as long as it means you can kill as many BATERs as you can.

Besides the part where everyone respects and welcomes the Muhreens.

>Even during the Hive operations organized by the UN and as part of the Alternative plans?
How many Hive operations have we seen in detail? I can only think of Minsk (joint NATO-WarPac), Bhopal (we don't see the whole operation, just the Russians and their espers), Yokohama (we don't see the whole operation, just that faggot Takayuki and the G-bombing), Sadogashima (joint UN-IJA-COSEAN), and Ouka (everyone's in the shit now)

>The US A-10s were ordered to pull back, not ordered to stay. They went against those orders.
Show me the quote from that story where it says they were ordered to withdraw and refused. It doesn't exist.

>Then make sure you have weapons, idiot. That was the whole point of making non American TSFs that had non-ammo based fighting potential.
Yeah, swords, brilliant idea, you kill at about one tenth the speed of a gun since your reach is so much smaller and expose yourself to being latched on to by little red fuckers.

That line was said by a superior pilot describing her own experience. It never said anything about how normal pilots would have ease operating it.

Hahaha. This guy thinks all Marines are true Americans...

Then your statement that Americans have been fighting on all fronts is wrong then, wouldn't it?

See the opening of Soul of the Artilleries. They Stood Their Ground.

Would a sword or knife be better to chop little red fuckers? American tactics only includes knifes to combat the red fuckers, but swords can be used effectively against, well, everything else. And you can use the ammo you saved where it really counts. You just dont get it, don't you?

>That line was said by a superior pilot describing her own experience. It never said anything about how normal pilots would have ease operating it.
That line wasn't said by any pilot. It was omniscient narration.

>Hahaha. This guy thinks all Marines are true Americans...
America is an ideal, not an ethnicity. The country was built on immigration. The provisional permanent residents/provisional citizens in the armed forces are American too, just as their commanding officers are American.

>Then your statement that Americans have been fighting on all fronts is wrong then, wouldn't it?
No, because being involved on all the fronts doesn't mean you're involved in every single battle.

>See the opening of Soul of the Artilleries. They Stood Their Ground.
The opening of Soul of the Artilleries had them requesting permission to hold the line and being granted it. They weren't acting against orders at all. You pillock.

>Would a sword or knife be better to chop little red fuckers?
A knife doesn't eat up an entire mount pylon to carry with you, a mount pylon that could have had a gun with 2000 more DU rounds on it.
Really the best option would be to fix bayonets on guns.

>Except, since it never happens at all, and they even chose to go with Alternative V and RUN AWAY, your wrong.
Alternative V wasn't meant to be a run away plan. They just added the run away part to pacify the doomsayers. Alternative V was meant to be the "win" button, which they tested for effectiveness and safety at Yokohama and Sadogashima.

.:Futsuu:. the project was irredeemable in its current state and i was too burnt out after a year of working on it to start all over again
.:LaplacesDemon:. I see, that's too bad. It seems like tranlating a VN that size is a shitload of work, so I appreciate the effort regardless of if it's released any time soon or not.
.:LaplacesDemon:. What made the project irredeemable, if you don't mind my asking?
.:Futsuu:. i was too new and not a good enough translator
.:Futsuu:. the more i translated, the more i realised that the earlier scripts weren't up to the mark
.:Futsuu:. and i don't really want to release something i'm not happy with
.:Futsuu:. so yeah
.:LaplacesDemon:. That makes sense, sorry to hear that shit went sour.

I also had a ton of fun in the /a/ threads when it was airing. Show was such a let down, all it would have taken was a slightly higher budget and some fucking EFFORT. I mean god damn it, they basically slapped some Muv Luv visuals on top of a horribly generic show.

It could have been worse sure, my main gripe with it was the animation of the TSF's.

They looked crazy fluid and human. Maybe it's just me but I always pictured them as being more regimented and mechanical, with only the super modern Raptors, Eurofighters etc looking that smooth.

I think more clunky stompy TSF's would have emphasised the way experienced pilots use them efficiently. Like Takeru and all his talk of frame cancelling his TSF's motions.

You are a fucking idiot. Not only does Isumi herself point out how dumb it was, so does Sakon and Yuuko.

You seriously expect a foreign nation to 100% commit its forces in a losing scenario for "honor?" When Mana and Ikaruga themselves see the US Navy and its TSFs strategically bombing and launching air strikes on the BETA to thin their numbers in the sea and around the Tokyo bay?

Fuck that. You have no common sense, neither does Sagiri or the rebels for that matter. And just to point out, Sagiri was also blaming the UN and international forces for the events of 98', not just the US.

That would be because of the stiffness of static sprites.

Did anybody else fall in love completely with the Trilogy but gradually slope into a 'meh' reaction to the expanded universe?

I think Schwamahamallama is good and TDA is intriguing, but the whole franchise feels like it has spun off into aimless oblivion trying to recapture its old glory by cramming as much minutiae as possible into things that expand the story of the world rather than advance it.

I feel like alternative itself was a weird beast that interacted very strangely with Extra and Unlimited. Trying to replicate Yuuko's wild ride would probably just produce something sub par.

I still kinda want to see them try of course, in the grander scheme of things its hard to see where the series could go. Purging the remaining hives is kinda anti climatic, a mop up effort. Second moon war might be fun, the tiny teaser we got in TE looked badass.

Hell, a moon war prequel could be fun too. I've always wondered how the human forces even managed to function up there.

>Maybe altverse is different in that regard.
It is. Yuuya's maternal grandfather, Mira's dad was beaten and spent several years in a Japanese POW camp. That's one of the reasons why he hates the Japanese, because he beaten and humilitated by them until Japan conditionally surrendered.

And since Japan wasn't humilitated or forced into an unconditional surrender as well as "maintained" its empire, American hatred of the Japanese is pretty strong.

Which is why shota Yuuya got bullied and beat up all the time for being a haifu. Add the fact that Masatada (Yui/Yuuya's father) bailed on the family to fight in Japan when the BETA were conqueroring most of Southern China and starting on the Koreas, and Grandpa Bridges associates the Japanese with cowards.

Growing up, Yuuya had a fucked up childhood where he could not identify with one side of his culture.

Actually, its pretty plausible. The simmering hatred and tensions after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Baton death marches, crimes against humanity, and so on and not getting even with nuking Japan would only increase hatred for them.

Remember, Muv-Luv is alternate history in Unlimited and Alternative. Shah's family is still in power in Persia/Iran, the Soviet Union exists past the 90's, and so on.

The fact Germany was the one that got nuked twice in 1945 should tell you all about "plausibility".

Barely consequential. Mecha has never been popular in eroge, even Muv-Luv being a cult hit can't stack up to Kimi ga Nozomu Eien either in sales or influence.

>because we weren't allowed to escalate the conflict just like we weren't allowed to once the Chinese started sending in armed forces to support North Korea in the Korean War

It's BECAUSE of Korea that we didn't try to force the commies out. Korea wasn't an instance of "not being allowed to" so much as getting bogged down into a stalemate around the 38th parallel after the ChiComs shoved us back. 'Nam was a lost cause the moment we decided to play waiting games with an enemy that had all the time in the world.
