Meditation isn't a cult, but what OP is talking about is "TM". It's a copyrighted chain. You can meditate for free, on your own, all day long. But if you want to be successful like Jerry Seinfeld and David Lynch, then it's gonna cost you. In their minds, you can't just go out and meditate, you have to be trained by a TM guide.
