That which men call evil is that which blinds them, or appears to move them away from the realization that all is good or God "it". When it is seen that all is Good, there is no evil.
From the still source, the Self in every man, all is Good and perfect, and the "Demiurge-evil" and all its works are inventions to describe those influences which move the viewpoint away from that realization. It is the belief in duality that causes men to believe that there are both good and evil. But there cannot be two; evil is a degree of goodness, and is necessary for the Realization of Goodness, God or "IT".
The "Demiurge-duality-evil-devil" is depicted as the tempter to sensory pleasure and in the sense that man when born is drawn to the senses and comes to believe in the reality of the sensorily perceived world and fulfillment therein, then he may have been tempted or fallen. And in the sense that he may continue in this belief, continuing pursuit of fulfillment in that direction, ignoring the Self as the source and the fulfillment, then he may be said to worship the "demiurge-devil-evil", and he will suffer all the disappointment, bewilderment and fear that such a direction and belief brings.
Failing to realize that all his sufferings are due to his own IGNORANCE, he invents the "demiurge-evil-devil" as being apart from himself, not realizing that they are a part of him.
Since the uneducated discriminater is used to duality and permits beliefs in factions being in opposition to each other, there is set up the tendency to equate evil-bad with Good, believing them to be two opposing factions.
Evil is not opposed to good, anymore than darkness is apposed to light.
They are not opposites but degrees of absence and presence. Inasmuch as darkness may be said to be an absence of light no one says that light is an absence of darkness so evil may be said to be an absence of Good. But there is never an absence of Good any more than the sun ceases to shine.

Many teachers and religions have fallen for the dualistic view and have placed evil equal and opposite to Good.
It is an understandable but misleading trap. It is like saying that the positive and negative wires in an electric current are in opposition, there have to be both for there to be light. Or it is like saying that cleanliness is opposed to dirtiness, remove the dirt and the cleanliness is there, it is not possible to put cleanliness, only to remove dirt. Likewise for created being, evil is ESSENTIAL to the realization of Good "GOD-IT" and it is often transpires that that which men call evil from the body image view of the world is beneficial in terms of spiritual evolution.
It is often suggested in Gnostic teachings and old regious scriptures and teachings that sensory pleasure is to be shunned as the work of the "Demiurge-devil-evil" because it is in opposition to service to "God-IT" and this causes an apparent division, dividing that which is Good or God from which is Good-made or God-made.

The key to this mistake is its limited context. It could be said that the blind pursuit of sensory pleasure is "evil", if that the pleasure is sought in the belief that it is itself the source of lasting happiness and fulfillment, for then there is the ignoring of the real SOURCE, the blinding of the mind to "GOD-IT". But, in itself, not for itself alone sensory pleasure is Good, God made, made to be ENJOYED. It is not the work of some evil "Demiurge"
It is the excessive pursuit in ignorance, as distinct from grateful acceptence in moderation, that misleads and confuses the people, the being.

2 halves make 1 whole. Just like ying yang, there is GOOD and EVIL. They need eachother to act upon. Thats the basis of life.
