>tfw CHIM in The Elder Scrolls is just magical initiation, the assertion of the monadic "I" in the face of the annihilating abyss of the Godhead

Reminder that Lorkhan was stripped of it's heart because he did exactly what he did

>not realising that Lorkhan made Nirn and trapped mortals into mortality so that they would be able to comprehend the tower, achieve Amaranth and thereby escape the dream of the Godhead. He failed so that mortals may succeed.
He is the anti-demiurge, ayleid scum.

No, CHIM is using the console commands and the save function (having control over space and time because you as the player exist outside of the game). There is some truth in this, however. Seeing as how similar reality is to video games, especially The Elderscrolls universe...

Kirkbride made the lore in this game cool desu

CHIM is an entirely in-universe phenomena.
It has absolutely nothing to do with forth wall breaking.
Read the 36 Lessons.
>>
>>19516800
If you believe god exists in the mind, you're a tool. Making the divine into a cognitive process, known as mental exercises is known to be futile and full of greif because all you do is walk your way around in horrific circles of all the crap that's been flowing into your mind telepathically since you've been here on this planet for the sake of avoiding the true matter at hand and not wanting to deal with problems that come from your heart and not your mind so you turn it around and around until you finally figure out that there was never any need to do this to yourself over one little problem.

it's literally the zen enlightenment, got nothing to do with fucking magic and initiations.
>>
>>19519692
Lorkhan did nothing wrong.
>>
>>19520228
Yeah, It's the in universe way of describing why the player character is an immortal who can do whatever he want's to. All video game writers have to do this. Another example would be the Master Chief's luck in the Halo universe. Kirkbride just did it in a very creative way. Vivec is a character in a video game who realized he was a character in a video game. The same thing happened to Talos. Like I said before, our reality and video games (once again especially TES) is more similar than one might think.
>>
>>19520287
I used to think this too.
I read the wiki this week and the way Vivec's life played out and how he describes CHIM (the tower) makes me believe it isn't cheesy 4th wall breaking anymore.
It's just really robust world-building.
>>
>>19520276
I didn't imply that~
>>
>>19520287
Okay now I know that you're just baiting.
>>
>>19520304
He might just be a filthy casual set in the 2011-2012 mindset of "I played Skyrim, skimmed the bad wiki and read a few posts incorrectly explaining CHIM, so now I know everything about TES".
>>
>>19520287
>>19520304

Nope CHIM is not realizing you're a character in a videogame CHIM is having the source code for the game and being able to edit it at your whim
>>
>>19520297
It's 4th wall breaking THAT DOUBLES as roubust world building. Remember, for one to achieve CHIM they must hold onto conflicting beliefs.
>>
>>19520340
No, it really isn't.
>>
>>19520340
Right, and you can only do this IF YOU EXIST OUTSIDE OF THE GAME.
>>
>>19520345
>>19520348
> It allows for the user to return to a state before the mingling of Anu and Padomay and manipulate the Aurbis how they please.
>Aurbis is the name for the universe. It includes Mundus, Oblivion, the Void, and Aetherius. It is the overlap of the two cosmic forces: Anu and Padomay.

he's not outside the game he's outside the game's "reality"
>>
>>19520287
I would also like to add that Vivec never displayed/Achieved CHIM. He only wrote about it. It's like a Buddhist writing about enlightenment, but never experiencing it. The only character to display CHIM was Talos( Tiber Septim).
>>
>>19520360
>he's not outside the game he's outside the game's "reality"

So then he's outside of the game.
>>
>>19520371
>The only being who is known to have actually achieved CHIM is Vivec. Talos might have achieved CHIM. Vivec supposedly learned of CHIM after marrying and mating with the Daedric Prince Molag Bal.[1] Vivec wrote extensively on its nature,[OOG 1] and used CHIM to banish Azura from the world during his trial.[OOG 10] Talos might have achieved CHIM before ascending to godhood, how he did so is not entirely known. According to some sources, in an act of love, Talos used CHIM to effectively erase the jungles of Cyrodiil retroactively from all history,[9][10] being quoted as saying.

actually its Talos that may have not achieved CHIM
>>
>>19520383
not really, he's still in that world not in ours, he's just the real mvp
>>
>>19520360
This.
Not sure why people want to keep forcing this meme of Vivec being outside the game.
Doesn't even make sense?

That same wiki explains that Talos may have used CHIM to remove a jungle from Cyrodil. CHIM is a state that lets you change the reality within Mundus. But you're still within the reality of the Elder Scrolls games. CHIM isn't even fully explored (as a location) by Vivec...
>>
>>19520394
I'm not talking strictly in the sense of "our world" or "the game's world"
>>19520390
Vivec never displayed CHIM. Even your quote from the Lorepedia reinforces that.
>>
>>19520427
banished azura, stopped a comet on its tracks, can fly effortlessly
btw the comet is still there floating
>>
>>19520390
>Gets fucked in the ass by a daedric prince
>Supposedly achieves enlightenment as a result
>Writes books about supposed enlightenment

Vivec is a funny character.
>>
>>19520449
According to him
>>
>>19520460
Well, he's both male and female. Once he touches the heart of Lorkhan he goes back in time and redoes his entire life.
In that process he fuses with his mom and become male/female. He bangs Molag Bal and they have a bunch of monster babies and then learns about CHIM.
>>
>>19520360
You're completely wrong
>>
>>19520271
>implying the end result isn't the same

>>19519850
>tfw Lorkhan needed a physical universe to create spirit, that principle immanent to it and capable of apprehending its bondage to the Godhead so that it might transcend it

fuuuuuu

>>19520599
Lorkhan is a bro

>>19520597
do u want to develop on that
>>
>>19520340
CHIM is actually more about becoming the code yourself.
>>19520371
Vivec achieved CHIM at Red Mountain, he built a world where the Tribunal could exist

>not noticing the Crowley influence in the 36 Sermons
>>
>>19520271
Why do you think the character played is known to be soulless instead of being le soul?
>>
>>19520760
Well never read de 36 sermons but the commentaries on the mysterium xarxes definitely has crowley influence. Even written in same style has some of his books. Some good writing in it aswell. It exagerates the perverse side, but its a perverse poetic persuasion that you find in many cults.
