You forged something out of your memory. Depending on the time, sleep deprivation probably got to you in the process of starting to sleep, where your thoughts are pretty active. Same thing happened to me last night actually. I thought I heard my dad knocking, but he wasn't there. In summary, sleep deprivation/memory manipulation (of your own doing).

In the stages between sleep and being awake you can hear random noises, especially human voices. It has happend to me a lot. I never remember what they say, but it's really short and loud. It's just that your brain didn't realize you weren't sleeping and went into dream mode to early. Or you know, it's entities trying to possess or make contact with you. Depening on what you prefer to believe.

I've had these ocasionally. It's pretty common for your mind to start making shit up when you're half awake and half asleep. Kinda like phosphenes and closed eye hallucinations.
