Post the scariest serial killers:
>East Area Rapist is believed to have started as a prolific burglar, only later graduating to rape. His initial modus operandi was to stalk middle class neighborhoods at night looking for women who lived in single-story homes, generally located near a school, creek, or other open space that afforded a quick escape. As part of his surveillance, the stalker was also known to call victims both before and after the night of the attack, sometimes hanging up, sometimes pretending to have the wrong number, and sometimes (in calls placed after the attack) threatening them. In one of these messages which was recorded by the victim in January 1978 the stalker repeats, "Gonna kill you."
>Although he originally targeted women either alone in their homes or with children, he later came to prefer attacking couples instead. His standard procedure was to break in and awaken the occupants, threatening them with a handgun. Victims were generally bound with ligatures that the criminal brought to the crime scene, often blindfolding and/or gagging them with towels taken from the residence that he had carefully cut into strips. The female victim was made to tie up her male companion with bootlaces before being tied up herself. In many cases, these bindings were made so tightly that the victims had no feeling in their hands for hours after they were untied. He would then separate the couple, often stacking dishes on the back of the male, and telling him that if he heard the dishes rattle he would kill everyone in the house.
He got bored of just rapes after a while, and started murdering people, by bludgeoning them to death.
Scariest for me is easily David Parker Ray, the Toybox Killer. It's not *proven* that he killed anyone, but like... he did. He almost certainly did. And even if he didn't, that tape transcript nearly made me vomit the only time I tried to read it.
The fact that he had friends over to gang rape his victims too. How many people were complicit in that shit?
I've recently taken an interest in EAR/ONS. The best part is that so much evidence is available and you pretty much have complete write-ups of every single attack he's done. It's totally mindboggling how this guy managed to elude authorities. His primary motivation seems to have been to cause fear and terror. He was an odd mix of aggressive balls-of-steel behavior and meticulous, paranoid planning/MO.
His MO was basically breaking into peoples homes while they were dead asleep, going to their bedroom and waking them by shining his flashlight in their face. Then he'd make the woman tie the husband up, tie her up, stack plates on the husbands back that would fall off if he tried to move too much. He used nautical ("diamond") knots and bound them extremely tight. Then he'd rape the woman, ransack the house, even make himself food occasionally all while they were tied up, and eventually leave. Nothing seemed to deter him from breaking in, be it small children or guard dogs. He had a habit of lying or putting in red herrings such as faking a mexican accent. He would also prank call to terrorize his victims a lot, before he attacked them and sometimes even years after. At first he was just a rapist, eventually he became a serial killer. Like 50+ rapes and 10+ killings.
The craziest thing is how he was never caught. They know what he looks like, they have his DNA, his voice, various pieces of evidence suggesting where he might work. He was spotted many many times but always managed to escape.
Mr.Cruel was like the EAR/ONS of Australia. He was never caught. Look at the damn sketch. Creepy

>To prevent women from reporting the crimes, Ray had drugged them with agents to induce amnesia. He taped himself telling one woman the drugs were "sodium pentothal and phenobarbitol". One woman remained uncertain that her recollections of the abuse were anything but nightmares until contacted by the FBI. After questioning, she came to remember her mistreatment in increasing detail.[10]
Goddamn
