What could have caused a group of 9 experienced Soviet hikers to leave their tent in the middle of the winter night without taking their warm jackets, hats, gloves and boots, take shelter in nearby forest and freeze to death? People who found their bodies found no signs of animals, other humans or fire near the tent

IIRC didn't some of them have weird burns on their bodies? It's been a while since I read the wiki.
>>
>>19460201
They made a fire in the forest, those who have burns were found near it, there was no signs of fire near the tent
>>
>>19460201
Intense friction caused by rapidly moving snow in an avalanche has been known to cause 2nd to 3rd degree burns on avalanche victims.
>>
>no signs of animals
>tongues missing
Really makes you think...
>>
>>19460058
>>19460247
Wasn't avalanche also ruled out?
>>
Vampire.
>>
>>19460251
Girl who had tongue missing was found 2 months later and had also most of her face missing, so it was probably eaten by small animals after death
>>
>>19459960
they got drunk
>>
>>19460256
Tent wasn't even fully covered by snow when it was found month later
>>
>thought they heard bear while eating ham
>thought bear would come after it because of smell
>tried to sneak out into the forest
>three of them slip on a creek and die
>regrouped and made a fire
>realize if they stayed there they would die, the fire isnt working
>couple try to walk back
>everyone eventually dies
>>
>>19459960
wtf, there was just a thread about this yesterday. why not post there?
>>
>>19460280
Except those found near fire were naked and those who were found near creek had their clothes on
>>
>>19460297
people near fire were scavenged by those who tried to return to original camp

they didnt scavenge the guys on the creek because their clothes were wet and would make them die quicker

Dude, they didn't undress, they made the tent for the night and then left it without taking most of their clothes

They smelled vodka nearby.

Is this thread the /x/ equivalent of someone posting on /his/ "Did the Holocaust really happen"?

Extreme hypothermia leading to paranoia and delusions. This case has been discussed to death on 4chan and on other paranormal forums. Stop posting this shit every fucking day

>>

An actual avalanche yes, but fear of an avalanche likely drove them from their tent.

>>19460297

That's because most likely the survivors took the clothes of the already deceased couple by the fire.

Also google Karman Vortex street. It's an auditory phenomena. The site where they found their tent is apparently a very good candidate for this phenomena to occur. Read the book Dead Mountain, it was pretty good.

If it was just extreme hypothermia, why did the Soviets investigate it so thoroughly? Why would they do radiation testing on the bodies? Is that normal for hypothermia investigations? Why was one of the victims tongues ripped out while she was still alive? Why were the tops of the trees burnt in the area that the bodies were found? Why was a flag planted in the area before the incident still standing if there was an avalanche?
>>
>>19459960
I watched this documentary on Netflix once called "Devils Pass". Its findings were inconclusive, but there was strong evidence to suggest they were involvement of some form of failed Soviet super soldier program. And possibly a surprise appearance of the USS Philadelphia in their tent.
>>
>>19459960
can there not be a thread like this every two fucking minutes
>>

>If it was just extreme hypothermia, why did the Soviets investigate it so thoroughly?

They didn't, the authorities dropped it relatively quickly.

>Why would they do radiation testing on the bodies?

It was an investigation and the radiation was within normal parameters for that time. There is a myth circulating around the internet that there were abnormal levels of radiation present, but this is not true. Further details are given in the book "Dead Mountain"

>Is that normal for hypothermia investigations?

That's not how investigations work. An investigation is meant to ascertain the cause of death. If they knew from the start, there'd be no point for an investigation.

>Why was one of the victims tongues ripped out while she was still alive?

There is nothing to suggest that it was and I don't know where you got that idea from.

>Why were the tops of the trees burnt in the area that the bodies were found?

A fairly common occurance in avalanche country.

>Why was a flag planted in the area before the incident still standing if there was an avalanche?

There wasn't an avalanche.
>>
>>19462334
>Tops of the trees were burnt because avalanche.
>Also there was no avalanche.
>>
>>19462586
Are you dull? He didn't say there was an avalanche

He said it was in an area where avalanches are known to happen
>>

>>
>>19462022
you're a fucking retard. nothing about the actual events remotely suggest a super soldier or any other spoopy experiment was involved. do you not understand what "based on a true story" means? jesus christ this board is cancer
>>
Maybe they dranked too much vodka or maybe they had methanol and thought that it's ethanol and dranked that and went crazy. Russians want to be drunk all the time.
>>
>>19462728
Two of them worked in secret soviet nuclear research lab and another was WW 2 veteran who worked for KGB during the war
>>
>>19459960
> oh look its this thread again

I thought it was concluded long time ago that soviets were doing some secret experiments in those mountains and these ppl got accidentaly involved

Small low angle avalanche, partially buried their campsite in the middle of the night, group panicked and couldn't do anything because half their shit was buried, promptly died of hypothermia
>>
>>19464307
This is photo of them setting up the tent before their last night, notice small vertical cross and ski buried in snow then compare it to OP's picture where the same cross and ski are still standing month later when their tent was found, surely avalanche would have toppled it
>>

" An argument, possibly related to a romantic encounter that left some of them only partially clothed, led to a violent dispute.

About this, Eichar states that it is "highly implausible. By all indications, the group was largely harmonious and sexual tension was confined to platonic flirtation and crushes. There were no drugs present and the only alcohol was a small flask of medicinal alcohol, found intact at the scene. The group had even sworn off cigarettes for the expedition." Furthermore, a fight could not have left the massive injuries that one body had suffered. "
>>
>>19459960
Trans-dimensional langolier encounter.
>>
>>19464086
Just because they were Russian doesn't mean they supported communism.
>>
>>19465090
>The group had even sworn off cigarettes for the expedition
I don't know why people bring up alcohol or drugs when it's known that they didn't even take cigs for the trip, despite most of them being smokers, they were experienced hikers on a dangerous ski trip, not some dumb college kids on a spring break
>>
>>19462022. Holy shit! That made me laugh.
