Why do y'all say magick with a K? Is magic the shitty western version? Just curious.
>>
>>19453725
"Magick, in the context of Aleister Crowley's Thelema, is a term used to show and differentiate the occult from performance magic and is defined as "the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will", including both "mundane" acts of will as well as ritual magic. Crowley wrote that "it is theoretically possible to cause in any object any change of which that object is capable by nature"

However we're not all Thelemites, but most of us agree on using the "k."
>>
>>19453745
OK gotcha, so magic is entertainment and magick is the real shit.

I mean, that's sorta a facile breakdown.
Both words are valid.
Magic-k comes straight out of Early Modern English, via the French, also used in German (where a lot of our English speaking grimoire tradition comes from via Agrippa). Use of '-k' declined until Levi pumped life back into the current from France at which point it gained steam again.

Both are valid descriptors but generally the 'k' denotes work in the English, French, and German grimoire traditions from Dee to Abramelin to Levi to Crowley and beyond.

>>
>>19453798
Will this make me puke less or more than eating the flesh itself? usually with psychedelics that can make you sick, I end up projectile vomiting then almost immediately shifting consciousness and things begin to get weird. On HBW I can tell where the peak(s) will occur via vomitomancy.
>>
>>19453815
>Will this make me puke less or more than eating the flesh itself?

Less, also avoid alcohol prior to doing it. Probably at least 3 days. They do not mix.

Almost everyone vomits on mescaline, even more so on raw peyote/pedro flesh.
>>
>>19453809
Don't take it personally. They have nothing else to fill that deep hole in their hearts that a broken childhood left.

Not all of us were lucky enough to be loved by somebody.
>>
>>19453821
OK, thanks! William Burroughs claimed to have known a junkie who took copious amounts of peyote, claimed to have lost all withdrawal and craving for opiates, then died of either mescaline poisoning or one of the other alkaloids in there. I know opiate withdrawals go terribly with psychedelics, but I always found I liked to drink a bit on fungus or -25. Any idea why cactus is different?
>>
>>19453827
Jesus loves his sheep, anon.
>>
>>19453829
This is true.
>>
>>19453828
>Any idea why cactus is different?

The alkaloids in the cactuses that are left over, even in extraction there's still traces of some, and the alkaloids that are in the raw flesh do cause stomach issues. Its something kind of unique to the cactus, it more or less has poisons in it that will make you vomit. These do not interact with alcohol at all. I have personally tried to drink while on mescaline and while on the tea/flesh and spent the next day vomiting for almost all day.

Also the peyote/san pedro churches that do ritual use of the cactus, at least near me, do not allow alcohol use in the tipi.

They let one group smoke weed during a ritual but I think it was cause all of that group was hardcore weed types.

I have a vague plan for mountaintop ritual magicks. Maybe some -25 but I also don't want to overcomplicate things by getting high.

>>19453815
Ever tried railing 2ce? after the sensation of a psychedelic drill shooting straight through your nose out the back of your head abates, you basically instantly start vomiting and instantly get high as all hell. Sort of a fascinating, clean way to come up, because I always came out the other side of that feeling so clear-headed. It cuts out the first hour of body discomfort and just condenses it into like a 15 minute hellish experience. Fun with friends, it gets the whole crew moaning "Why did we do this oh my god no"

I did it on one occasion with a friend, and our other friend came upon us in the woods right at that stage in the proceedings, to find us both bent over a felled tree vomiting but still trying to communicate with each other, so it was basically just *blrhrrghh* "holy shit the purple- *blurrrrgghhh* "oh my god *blurhgghg*

I almost miss it, is that weird? Those analogs finally taught me how to rail water because the pain was just like too freaking much with that shit.

>>19453903
I love the analogues. I had a chemist in canada for a while who had everything except for B... I named my cat after him because I found my kitten in an abandoned building's basement while on a particularly high dose of the man's product. Least I could do haha.

5-meo-amt? the only meo i got 'hold of was -mipt. That's another distinctly "purple" one. I stacked a pretty obscene amount of liquid L on top of it so it's hard to say what its effects were, though

Read "ThROA", "John St. John", and "Pyramidos" in that order. It shows how Crowley went from a temple initiation with officers to a self-initiatory rite in which you evoke/project/assume the role of initiating officers.

This sort of reduction can be run on many other rites.

I'm not sure you're supposed to worship them. They probably get off on that, but it might make things difficult.
>>
>>19454083
I thought that too.Turns out it's not a terrible idea to build shrines to them. Ever since I added shrines and offerings to my spirit discourse, things have gotten better and easier RE: contacting them. And i'm not just talking about Lemegeton.
>>
>>19454050
It's the GD initiation and not really specific to the order as it's based on the formula of spell 125 of Coming Forth by Day. The Cultus Sabbati has a more specific initiator and current, but even then the formula and intent is 'mostly' the same.
>>
>>19454105
That's a given in anything but it doesn't make it a good idea on the whole. Local and personal spirits are worthy of praise, but you really have to know what you're working with.
>>
>>19454121
I think there's a fine line between "worship" as displayed by building shrines and making offerings, and "worship" displayed by subjugating oneself and considering the entity your "shepherd" as we see in Christianity, et al.

As the other replyer stated, there is a world of charlatans, but there are also people with great skill but they're hard to find. Thailand has a pretty uninterrupted study of these things (unlike China, for example) so there are good practitioners there.

I've only experienced qigong in martial arts contexts. The linked video seems an extension of the electric current of chi (as there are electric and magnetic).

Just a PSA anon, you can stop an opiate OD with Narcan, which you can buy over the counter in some states, or get for free through harm reduction services in others. So if you do this kind of stupid shit on the reg you might get some to keep on hand.

So when I was at the Cemetery last night, I saw a large marker for a family plot, and it had the masonic square/compass/G, but then what I assumed at first was a symbol of the Eastern Star to represent female family members, actually turned out to be an inverted pentagram. Is anyone familiar with the averse pentagram being used in the context of Masonry or Eastern Star tradition? Did the engraver just fuck up? What's going on here?

As a beginner, I've been looking for and gravitating to books written like a study guide or a course (also easy to understand). I'm midway through Modern Magick and picked up Liber Null as well. I guess my question is how do you go about; as a beginner; not reading a bunch of shit at the same time? How do you reconcile overlapping or overarching information from various sources? Also, I haven't heard/read anyone's thoughts on Modern Magick - I like it so far but in your learned opinion, is there something else I should be trading instead? Keeping in mind I prefer plain English that won't bore me to tears. Thanks guys!

Lads I've noticed something.
I get scenarios pop into my head concerning myself or people I know, then they actually happen.
Within the past two years, this has happened increasingly.
I don't get to choose what the said scenario is, it's like a random daydream that my head generates; but eventually it comes true (provided that it 'decides' to keep popping up in my thoughts). Please note that this sometimes concerns people I haven't heard from or contacted in years.

Am I able to see into the future, or is this some sort of involuntary reality manipulation?

Keep studying. Either the author is striking out on their own or following someone else. Learn to tell one from the other and decide wch you trust.

Finns are not Lapps.

The vikings made pacts with Lappish sorcerers also known as "Lapland Witches", even Crowley mentions "Lapland Witches" in Liber 51.

While most Finns have Lapp blood in them, even Finnish national epics like the Kalevala regard the Lapp sorcerers as "evil" and opposing forces to the proper Finnish people like the Carelians and their more "Heroic" sages like Väinämöinen etc. In Kalevala the quest for "grail" or (Sampo) in their epic ends up in a fight against the Witch of the North.

Lapps are not Finns.

It sounds like divination, but there's a lot of argument over whether divination is seeing a future event or limiting the possibilities of a future event. There's also a lot of argument of what the difference is, if there is on, but that rests on differing fundamental assumptions of the kind that cause religious schisms from being so banal and useless from the perspective of practice.

Highly debatable, unless we're talking about farther RE: physocal fitness. Allowing this, don't you think studying AND practicing Qabalah all day is going to get you further than studying Qabalah all day? Or JUST practicing Qabalah all day? Because that's the point I was clearly making. I can add 1 to 1 over and over all day, but if i don't start learning some new math to work on in addition to that, my mathematical skills will not improve much. Back to the topic of the Finns, Lapps etc.

Nordic countries have culturally kept the traces of "Witches Sabbath" in their traditions, unlike most anglo-saxon countries.

For example, Father Christmas, or "Santa Claus" is in both Sweden and Finland known as "The Yule Goat" (Julgubben in Swedish, Joulupukki in Finnish)

Also in Anglo-Saxon countries, the Saint Nicholas is known as "Santa Claus", it is no wonder, that the term "Old Nick" also traditionally refers to the Devil (or Pan, if you will)

There is certain hints to these (Pagan) fertility rites in the Finnish Kalevala. For example, when the sage Väinämöinen is given "strange child" examined that is born out of lady called "Maria" without father (Reference to Christian fable of Christ) Sage Väinämöinen immediately deduces "That such abomination should be killed on spot!"

Not really. The theory won't make much sense without practice.

Maybe this is just my particular brand of esoteritardation speaking, but I tend to be of the belief that the Sky Father is just the Sky Father and any doctrine pertaining to or mythic narrative describing the Sky Father is just speaking of the Sky Father.
The particular regional name "Tengri" doesn't mean much, especially in light of how scant written records are from the region.

As for the trident, as far as I know that's a Tibetan exchange, or more generally a Himalayan motif that made its way further north and east

Ungurn thought he could tear down the October Reds using the same principled by which he helped reestablish the Khanate. This implied a "Tengric"-Vajrayana theocratic system replacing the usual Russian imperial system.
