This is my first time here posting in /x/ but I had this thought you guys might like.
It was a while back but went something like this:

If this was true then every original idea came from an infinite source of more advanced realities with no true original source. Ideas aren't spontaneous, natural thought is continuous with milestones that show understanding of a concept. Ideas come from those milestones.

That would mean they can control the distance between universes. Rather than them communicating using some special method, their method of communicating is precisely to change which part of the multiverse is closest to the part they want to "contact."
