Has there ever been a way to cleanse somebody of emotion? I know castration has been used to temper hormones and the results of lobotomy are well known, but I'd like something less permanent. Just a way to temporarily neuter someone emotionally.

Bad idea. You shut off someone's emotions and they're either going to stop acting (nothing is satisfying and threats don't work against me) of cause mayhem (I have no fear or guilt and threats don't work against me). Dialing their emotions down, rather than off entirely, will give you milder versions of the same consequences.
