Why do things from 4chan start to suck once they cut ties with it? Is there a reason for that?

>Is there a reason for that?
Yes.
>>
Because anything we drop, the leddit and tumblr scavenging bottom-feeders eat it raw

Old SCP was spooky stuff within the realm of possibility. Now it's just middle school shit like all of them being GOD. I read one that was literally a fucking "meme" for the monster.
>>
Fuck the SCP community, if you're looking for help on writing a SCP the only advice they give you is to "EXPAND ON THE IDEA xDD" like all SCPs need to have 30 different superpowers or some shit
>>
>>19399610
oh and if you expand it too much they call you a copycat
>>
>>19399126
>>

because 4chan is the closest to "pure" that any content can be born in

What's digg?
>>

You don't wanna know.

It's because as anons, we communicate our ideas clearly and without holding anything back for fear of judgment or what have you, it's very close to raw material. After it hits Reddit and Tumblr it's changed to fit the ideals of the community for upboats and reshares or whatever gay shit Tumblr does. Tl;dr
>It's more genuine when it's from us anons because it's more true. Rebbits have to fit a wider audience

So, 4chan is like primal chaos?

think of 4chan as a source of nutrition or energy (certainly there is conscious energy expended by its users even if many of them are autistic neckbeards). Once something is cut off from its power source it can't function on the same level. 4chan, relatively uncontaminated by corporate exploitation, remains important for this reason

Maybe early /b/ was. It can't be called primal anymore.

Expand the idea is honestly some of the best advice you will hear. While I have no doubt many of them would disagree, it doesn't necessarily mean add more powers. EXPAND the idea. Most well recieved media is based on AN idea.
Let's go with "Jurassic Park." Base idea, island with dinosaurs. Expand on that shit. What about this idea intrigues you? What would be cool to do in this setting?

SCP-1471 Malo.exe
It is a very simple idea. Download this app > if you don't delete the app in "X" timeframe Malo will forever be just on the periphery of your vision or reflection yadda yadda... Malo has no real power or physical affect. It's basically just a perma jump scare. The "EXPAND" is what comes after subject creation. The short story that follows. Anyone can sit there and pitch monster and power ideas all day. But, if you can really expand on an idea you just might have something worth starting. Hell, if you are good you just might make something people enjoy.

>>TLDR expand the idea is good.

SCP doesn't suck though
stop being an elitist prick

Most things that are created by multiple people start sucking as more people get into it for the following reasons
>the best ideas/low hanging fruit gets taken fast and to constantly create more content it has to drop in quality
>the more people the harder it is to stick to a coherent idea (ie. normies take a meme and do it wrong from the perspective of the original creators because they have a different understanding of how it works that might be funny to them but not the original community)
>some people force themselves to create content for the sake of being a part of something cool/famous rather than actually creating the content and simply don't put any fucking effort into it
>early adopters are exposed to it more and get desensitized to the idea as a whole but since their memories of early content are guarded by nostalgia it seems like it's degrading way more than it actually does
