When I do the Dragon asana as pictured in The Equinox, the tops of my feet and ankles start to REALLY hurt. Last time, after only twenty minutes, I could barely straighten my feet out to stand up, and had to do it manually. Does anyone have suggestions? The pictures didn't show a square view from behind, so I'm not 100% certain that I have my heels and toes angled properly. Thanks in advance.

Hey has anyone else noticed that AShR is 420 by Sepher Sephiroth? I thought that was neat at first, but it got me wondering how the hell he arrived at that enumeration? Or do I have the spelling wrong (the word was either "fire" or "smoke"[OShN?])

How do they get 420 out of that? I mean it's a neat 'coincidence" but I get a different number using nun-final. it's one thing if you're going to try to sort of fudge numbers, but it seems to me like the initial/medial N should be used even at the end to arrive at the appropriate enumeration? Then again Bennett/Crowley seem to use at least three very separate and distinct sets of numerical attributions throughout.

In Crowley-Bennett Gematria, you seldom use final values.

I was wathching a R. A. Wilson video, and he mentioned something that struck me...Crowley never spent a day in jail, and considering who he was and in the context of the times, that's rather shocking. He had a hell of a lot more people out to get him than Oscar Wilde did not so long before. Crowley (rightfully) treated the police like servants. If someone tries to rob you, shoot the fuck. If you need a security escort or help retrieving your belongings from another's property, *that's* when you call the police. The man had the right idea.

There is a recording called "The Great Beast Speaks" you can buy it in MP3 format online if you look to find it.
I have a copy of it on my at-home-work machine in my bedroom.
I might be persuaded to share it today if anyone wants a copy.
It is Crowley, I think recorded on wax cylinder, reading portions of the Enochian calls and some of his poetry.
I was surprised at what his actual voice sounded like.
Very general yet refined and not very deep.

I never thought I would do it, but I'm about to buy a pass to get rid of these damned reCAPTCHA.

Thanks. I have heard some recordings of him reciting poetry, like "The Pentagram." Does anyone know where I can read about his relationship with Patricia MacAlpine? Is there anything that gives a more direct treatment of his attainment of 10=1 than "The Urn"? I feel like, at the very most, The Urn vaguely implied it, and i know it's not really something ever discussed or supposed to be recorded (that attainment, that is).

The Pentagram recording is from "The Great Beast Speaks".
Or at least it was collected in that publishing of that group of recordings which sound like they were either all made in the same sitting OR he kept the same cylinder around and recorded on until it was full.
I know OF what you're asking about, but not gory details.
I know lots OF about his life, teachings, and I own quiet a bit of his writing plus the recording but I don't consider myself a Thelemite.
He's just an interesting speed bump in the road that you have to slow down to drive over - so of course, highly noticeable.
I go back to him from time to time for light reading before bed.
Which is not to say I didn't learn a lot from him or that I disrespect him.
I can appreciate his experience.

Gotta save it for later - brunch and coffee with the rents and lounging in the common room.
I keep thinking about what's in that trunk in my room - like it's some kind of dirty secret paraphillia.
Gods only know how I'm gonna move it when I finally leave.
It takes two to handle and carry the trunk without incident when it's empty.

Well, he vowed to Leah half-way through this trainwreck to shut her up - but he had no intention of taking that seriously.
It wasn't part of his nature.
I keep waiting for the part where someone throws a pan of boiling grits on him.
All in all, Pat had the right idea.
He wanted kids and a family and someone to care for, but he didn't want to be tied down to them.
He wanted a family from afar without the issues that he saw "normal" families have that he learned from his mom and dad.
Pat gave him that and had no problem with it.
He just kept going for these attractive yet insecure and codependent women when he really wanted a mouthy single mom that wouldn't take him to court for child support.
Everybody "here" - meaning there - is just lying to themselves in this little horrible circle/cycle and ain't nobody doing nobody wilt.
>>
>>19365675
I currently find myself in a situation where I have committed to a monogamous relationship with a woman (the first ever time I committed to it then actually kept it), and have found it very much goes against my nature. And she doesn't want to have an open relationship. But she wants to go on dates with this one guy she knows. Which is somehow OK. What. A. Clusterfuck.

You're both being disingenuous.
Break it off now or you will regret it later.
She'll feel hurt and won't understand why you're mad.
You'll feel lied to and won't understand why she's being hypocritical.
Don't be a dick about it, but as democratically as possible break it off now.
It may take a while, but you will thank me later.

Again, ain't nobody doing what nobody wilt.

This is why I will never - zip - 0 - nada - ever date or marry again.

Ground and draw energy throughout.

I always feed personal energy with food offering or burnt offering.
But, at the same time I'm sending out, I'm drawing in.
Think carbon cycle.
Visualize that you have astral roots that go from the bottom of your feet or whatever part of your body is touching the ground.
As you project out, visualize drawing Qi (for lack of a better word) from the ground like a tree up through your roots following the track of the Middle Pillar.
The flow can then combine with the projection out from your hands or wand or other tool.
You then prevent draining without refilling.
"Earth" makes more - promise.

I actually don't care either way, I just want both of us to be doing the same thing. If one of us dates other people, we should both be able to, and so on. I'm pretty mellow about it outside of my incredible confusion. And apparently sex magick is cheating, even if the person you're "with" doesn't have any interest in the occult to begin with and therefore isn't much good as a ritual partner. Oi Vey.
>>

This. MP ritual can help, plus proper diet and exercise habits, Daily invocation and banishment, daily performance of eucharistic ceremony, etc

The dailies may be too advanced and further exhausting.
Baby steps.
>>19365702
Learn to ground and draw first.
You may have a deficit that needs to be addressed before you move on to more advanced practice.
Diet habits first.
Then, add on exercise and build your body up.
Then, Middle Pillar and build up that practice as needed.
Then, add on Ground and Draw.
Address the deficit and make sure you're balanced and full and maintain Ground and Draw throughout advanced practice.
Before you even start anything Ground and Draw.
Your constitution sounds like mine.
Too passionate.

Yeah, my advice stands.
Break it off.
You can't make anyone do the same thing as you.
You can't control her and she can't control you and neither of you is doing what's right for yourself or the other person.
Something is keeping you hanging on - but you need to nip that in the bud.
Because, you've admitted that you want to date other people and she isn't interested in your hobbies and has called you either a cheater or a potential cheater.
And, I don't care how good she is in bed or that she knows how to make your favorite food just the way you like it.
Is that a good enough reason for you to torture yourself for this period of time and ensure your future emotional trauma?
You're already blaming her for restricting your spiritual practice.
So, you do care and you need to break it off.

I love reiki. The practice is full of "love and light chakra crystal healing" people but hey. Find a teacher in your area, they're all over the place.

That symbol is for distance reiki, which is why it's connected to the akhashic record concept. Theoretically, I'm not supposed to show it to you for vague mysterious reasons (read: people want to charge you money to teach you this shit). My lineage has taken a slightly rebellious turn of late and started doing free attunements at music festivals (making a lot of people very salty who would charge 300 bucks for the same). My thinking here is that this shit should be available for those who seek it. My teacher dropped the master level symbols on me fairly early on so in keeping with that tradition, there's your level two symbol. Pic related is a level one symbol. It's easier to work with, and easier to memorize.

I don't mean to say you shouldn't shell out for an attunement if you want to learn reiki. It's worth then money for sure. Those attunements do a Thing.

How exactly does redefining witchcraft to mean anything but "the craft of witches" or "the spooky shit witches are thought to do" make any sense?
>>
>>19368502
Well, generally speaking, in the Western tradition, "Magick" implies a creation of new subsystems, usually based on coded keywords (LUX, VITRIOL, INRI, IAO, NOX) where generally speaking Witchcraft rests on reformulations of yearly cycles and essentially mutually common forms of folk magic

This kind of distinction starts to blur when we move outside of the West, particularly in Africa, South America, and Central Asia/Tibetan Plateau.
>>
You guys there? I have some books here and I need help picking a choosing what's good for a beginner and what isn't.

Witchcraft By Anastasia Greywolf
Mastering Witchcraft By Paul A Huson
Grimoire for the Green Witch By Ann Moura
Moon Spells By Diane Ahlquist
Protection and Reversal Magick By Jason Miller
Temple of Witchcraft Series By Christopher Penczak
Earth, Air, Fire and Water By Scott Cunningham
The Earth Path By Starhawk
Witchcraft By Ly de Angeles
Traditional Witchcraft By Gemma Gary
The Black Toad By Gemma Gary
The Devil's Dozen By Gemma Gary
Witches' Book of the Dead By Christian Day , Raven Grimassi
Practical Elemental Magick By David Rankine
>>
>>19368535
Of that list I'd stick to Rankine, Gary, Cunningham, Miller, and I remember Penczak's name but don't remember if he was worth fuck or not.
>>
>>19368522
Why does the "Western tradition" redefine perfectly fine words like magic?

>"Magick" implies a creation of new subsystems
Since when and why? How did "spooky shit" become "the creation of new subsystems"?
>>
>>19368535
>>19368550
I haven't read those particular texts, but what I have read of Penczak's has been pretty beginner friendly and concise.
>>
>>19368556
>redefine perfectly fine words like magic?
This may come as a shock to you, but even the Western academic edifices cannot agree on functional definitions for witchcraft, sorcery, and magic(k), as implied by how those distinctions begin to break down outside of Western contexts.

>Since when and why?
Since John Dee, and because people kept finding new expressions of the Work in unexpected places, or expressed under novel terms.

Also I feel like pointing out that you're arguing against the attempt at fine granular definitions for these terms in favor of "spooky shit" which could men anything or nothing.

I don't know exactly how to frame this question.

So there is Brahman in Hinduism and Buddha-nature in Buddhism. Then we have shentong and rangtong.

The Krishna propagandists keep trying to suggest Brahman is the same as Buddha-nature.

I think that sunyata and emptiness is very different from the Brahmic concept of a Godhead/One. I just don't know how to really put this into words.

How do I convince a family member that's being secretive to discuss her witchcrafts and magics openly? She's always travelling and I hardly have time to see her, and when I do she doesn't want to discuss the stuff, I know she's a practicioner because I was once in trouble, she said she was kind of a witch, did something and I really felt it.
>>
>>19368742
That's a tough nut to crack. A lot of practicioners are quite secretive about their work, and with good reason.
If she's got skillz, then maybe you wouldn't have to say much. Individuals vary wildly in their secretiveness, but if she's willing to share at all, she'd need to feel from you that you could be trusted to keep her secrets safe.

Seems legit. I'm a fairly blunt person so my inclination is to always just say it flat out like - hey I noticed you're into witchcraft, same. What's good. But I've also noticed that subtlety seems to work well for others. So.
>>
>>19368742
>>19368793
Secretive usually indicates a trust issue.
She's probably been either burned in the past or been ridiculed for her beliefs.
She probably thinks or knows that if her family were to find out she'd never hear the end of it - am I right?
I suggest to not just come out and ask.
You're going to have to build up trust, and that's a process.
Tell her that you need someone to talk to that - here's the important point - not going to tell anyone, especially not in the family.
Start off by telling her your beliefs or your thoughts or what you want to learn.
NOT learn from her - just learn.
Don't put any pressure on her to teach you or tell you anything.
Eventually, you are going to hit a nerve or get on a topic she HAS to talk about and give her opinion.
Don't bait her into a fight, tempt her to divulge.
Give her some reason to have buy in.
That's the most important point.
And, when someone has trust issues they need to be shown repeatedly over time that someone else is just like them and can be trusted before they will open up.
Like everything good n life, this is going to take time.
To do it right is going to take years.
To get the most out of this you're going to have to relationship build, so you need to think if you want that type of deep commitment to a process.
If you just snatch and grab and run that's not going to be fulfilling for either of you, and risk you developing some "adverse effects" depending on how vengeful of a person she is.

As far as I know, there's not such thing as a Demon as in what these posts are referencing.
Abrahamic Demons.
Daemons - the spirit of a place - yes.
Mischievous - sure.
Angsty - sure.
Bitter - that too.
Oblivious - more often than not.
Demons? Nope.
>>19370194
They're just operating from a higher plane or higher level or higher dimension.. or higher something, someplace.
It'd be like if an Ant suddenly crawled up to you and started trying to communicate to you in their own Ant language - but was obviously trying to communicate.
That's be pretty confusing, and odd for you - wouldn't it?
Previously, you were just happy as a lark existing in your own human world and now here is this weird thing waving it's little arms at you and squeaking.

Yeah - I am pretty sure that's what it's like to be an inhuman (meaning - not human in nature or character).

not necessarily true. a lot of gnostic thought arose from apocalyptic judaic cults that predate Christianity by up to if not more than 100 years. But "gnosticism" as is known from the Nag Hammadi caves is pretty Christian, overall.

But you know, I've had these experiences with God, with demons and with some kind of dark god too, and while one of my experiences with God could quality as a gnosis I don't quite find a religion that matches my whole enchilada of experiences, also the demons I've dealt with seemed quite ignorant, that's why I said this:

Demons, for lack of a better term if it offends your feelings, seem to be quite ignorant, they are more interested in watching you and see what you try to try and stop you than in anticipating you because they know what's what. Neil gaiman does a good job. You should buy preludes and nocturnes of you haven't already read Sandman.

The fiction that really made magic click for me was The Kingkiller Chronicles, by Patrick rothfuss. It's magic is really rooted in a deep understanding of the material world, I recommend it to everyone ever. The first one is called The Name of the Wind. It has like an Ursula k leguin vibe. The power of the word, names, and music play in really strongly
>>

>>19371469
Respectfully disagree. The sympathy magic in it is dope you gotta at least admit that. I love that his understanding progresses from magic based on like thermodynamics to the higher logos-driven forms that he learns.

One of my fav things in those books is the Ademi, their language is so cool, the way it incorporates hand gestures as a replacement for tone of voice. Like curling the fingers on the left hand conveys embarrassment. He put so many cool ideas in that book, but yeah maybe the story arc is lacking and I was distracted by the cool concepts. I don't really think so. Kvothe is a little insufferable though
>>
>>19371519
It has good worldbuilding but the actual plotting is hot dogshit and the writing is okay most of the time. I actually like the characters and the way they are presented along with the magic system which he clearly bases in the real thing but it's 1400 pages of bloat and nothing happening. The lord of the rings tops out at 800 for comparison.

My pattern recognition makes me feel that earth and water should be switched
>>
>>19372390
Because that is what you have always been taught.
I've been working on the more natural pattern tonight.
The perimeter pattern runs Water quenches Fire, Fire Scorches Earth, Earth smothers Air, Air dries Water.
The perpendicular patter runs Water feeds Earth, Air feeds Fire.
The perimeter is Entropic.
The perpendicular is Ordered.
There should be Dark and Light quarters, not a Dark half and a Light half.
I need to test if Aethyr is the Z-Axis. but I don't have a way to express that adequately on this laptop in Docs.
Shit I think about when I start getting tired.

>>19372426
What I mean is Western systems always list Earth at the Northern element and the "first" in the sequence.

In western astrology, fire is the first in the sequence, with Aries initiating the cycle. This is because the zodiac in tropical astrology is tied to the equinoxes, so the wheel begins at 0degrees Aries on the spring equinox. Then south with its obvious solar associations is associated with the summer solstice at the top of the wheel, moving on down to west with the waning daylight, the libran equinox, and finally Capricorn's north as the sun spends the least amount of time with us during the day.

I always think of air as first, in the east, where the sun rises. It has the initiating power as like a "masculine element," whos force culminates to fire at noon (top of the wheel), and then starts to approach the western horizon as water, one of the , and finally meets death at midnight beneath the earth.

The association with air as the eastern element I think has to do with the fact that in the current astrological age, the sign Aquarius sits on the throne of the east in, like Horus. That's speculation obviously.

You can't really push anyone into it.

A straw man actually means that I have setup an argument that is purposely easier to defeat than my actual argument.

So, if my revised Wheel of Time that I thought was nifty is my actual thought what is this "actual argument" I'm trying to cover up?

Stop reading more into my intentions than are actually there.
I tell you what my actual intentions are.
If I like you, I tell you.
If I want to strangle you with my bare hands, I tell you.
I don't go sneaking around in the night setting up convoluted arguments to manipulate and trip you up.

I'm just having fun playing with the Wheel of Time and the Elements as plotted on the cardinal points.

>>19372653
This is about the elements representing the four cardinal directions re-plotted on the Wheel of Time.

Most people in the West these days first learn North/Earth, East/Air, South/Fire, West/Water.
Then, later on they learn Spirit or Aethyr and things get re-arranged.

But, now I see that someone else also uses the off-set Water, Fire, Earth, Air progression.
http://www.evastuconsultant.com/vastu-directions/

Apparently, the Vastu Shastras are texts found on the Indian subcontinent that describe principles of design, layout, measurements, ground preparation, space arrangement and spatial geometry.

I'm not talking about some specialized system that you have to go out of your way to learn.

Well, you're practicing some forms of hinduism, while initially hinduism seemed promising (like many religions, really) with some little boons given to me when I practiced, soon it became hellish and dark, the "gods" seemed more interested in sending demons my way than on my enlightenment. I've gotten this same kind of behaviour from every religion, initially the "god" in question seems nice, but then it starts behaving erratically (for communication I used tarot and bibliomancy) and unjustly. You would get punished for no reason and the "god" would accuse you of having done something you never did.

So I think there's a dark power behind religions, but doesn't seem to be like gnosticism says either.

All religions contain minor truths but all of them are erroneous because they're systems of control: the believer (slave) caste are told the God/s are one way and can only satisfied through subjugation to the priest (master) caste. I get massively pissed off at people who go on about the muh NWO meme but expect a messiah to save them

The mortal and spiritual planes overlap, if you want positive energy to come to being you have to create it through action. Sitting around asking the Gods for help doesn't accomplish shit

Most people shy away from having to do work to get the outcome they desire
>>
>>19373829

Basically I've been searching for God by putting religions into practice, putting them to the test to see if they were truthful, declaring my intentions beforehand and I've found the gods of the religions human practice to be false and deceitful creatures.

I'm doing this because I had an experience with God, so I started searching for truth, but truth is that God gifted me heaven by means of gnosis.

During these tests, apart from the constant of gods being deceitful and false, I've found the constant that there was a much stronger power watching over me and caring after me.

So I want to study witchcraft, I already asked about books yesterday I believe, now I have to ask if somebody here is a regular practicioner focused just on witchcraft and what does he do, what does he think and what does he recommend and if you have some site you recommend.

I don't know of any sites or books off hand, but from what I hear the witchcraft folk are real into the natural cycles. The moon, the planets, that kind of thing.
Looking at the moon is easy enough, but there's also plenty of apps you can get or sites you can find with lunar calendars.

tl;dr 'angel' of desolation and/or destruction, leads an army of locusts. "The Destroyer", "Angel of Destruction".
Though curiously enough, in earlier texts it appears as more of a 'place' or 'state of being', but there's probably some kind of translation thing going on, or maybe the word was later repurposed.

I mentioned this, but it was in another thread, so many may have missed it, as you probably ignore other parts of /x/

Basically I tried several things, but only one worked.

Goetia for example didn't work.
But writing my desire for a sexual partner in a piece of paper and burning it actually worked, though I had to pray for the restoration of my vitality and also had to reverse the ritual aswell as cleanse the place by spraying rosemary infusion over it.

In the end the entity went away, but it dick touch my penis, it was hellish, though, as it drained my vitality apart from giving pleasure.
>>
>>19374325
Goetic works are notoriously finicky.
The least little thing fucks up and it crashes the whole thing, so that's not entirely surprising.
>>
>>19374238
>Working it all out by hand/calculator could often be an hours-long meditation. Excellent mental prep.

>when you're so undesirable that lonely 400 year old grimoire spirits don't wanna caress your bepis

>>19374340
Oh yeah, and since you're here. I believe you are a thelemite, is that correct? How hard is to learn and how trustworthy would you say your practice has been? I'm inclined towards witchcraft, but if I'm reasoned with I can change my views towards something more promising.
>>
>>19374337
Yeah the Ephemeris is the dealbreaker. In the interstitial era of the late 20th C., most of those were hard to find at any given bookstore as public need bottomed out, hard, just before user friendly programs started rolling out.
>>
The reason why I'm interested in witchcraft is because one of my aunts is a witch, so I may be able to learn something from her and have her as my support for when in doubt, also I would have access to both what I can find over the internet and her traditional knowledge (spanish).
>>
>>19374351
If you're so susceptible to rhetoric that I can convince you to practice Thelema with words alone, I don't want you practicing Thelema.

This is why (for me at least) we don't proselytize, and the extent of my promulgation ends with text commentary.

I mean between 1950 and probably through to the very early aughts.

Astronomy became tied up in the Uni system. Secularism rose drastically. Most people had no use for Ephemeris. As such you'd find plenty of star charts but few serious listings of motions through time.

>>

>and has always meant "spooky shit"
Here, let's see what anthropology has to say:

>magic - practices designed to gain control over the supernatural. Magic and religion are separated in several ways in anthropology. For some anthropologists magic tries to gain control over the supernatural. Others see magic as being individual, while religion is a group phenomena that creates lasting social bonds. Malinowski saw magic as a means to an end, while religion was the end in itself. Other anthropologists find separating magic and religion very difficult.

>In contemporary scholarly and popular discourse, the term witchcraft refers to a wide variety of ideas, practices, and institutions. Among most social science scholars of Africa, particularly anthropologists, witchcraft is defined as an act of magic that results in harming a person or aspects of the material world on which he or she depends. In this context, witchcraft and magic are used interchangeably; it is assumed that magic used for harm and magic used for healing, or enhancement, can be distinguished, either conceptually or in practice.
>>
>>19374830
I'm well aware of what "Western tradition" considers it to be and I think it's dumb and unnecessary.

If I started a widespread cult that redefined "trap" as "woman", that still wouldn't make a penis feminine.
>>
>>19374844
>magic and witchcraft are really broad terms that mean different things in different contexts
Oh, damn, you sure showed me.

All I'm saying is taking a general term like magic, adding a 'k' at the end and raping the definition is useless and only causes pointless arguments like the one in this thread.

They recognize it as the extremely broad term that it is. Only in the context of Thelema, which no one worthwhile cares about, does it mean " the creation of something new".

I would agree with this 110%. Art and Magick are one and the same. Or rather, to be more pedantic, I would say that Magick comes forth from the imagination, so be it in verse or painting, or whatever, it's still a construct from the inner world of a Magickian projected out, made flesh.
