Thoughts on Nilhism? I've been a Nihlist since I was 14

Nihilist here. Former Catholic. It's sort of good(?). I like knowing that there is no hell or that I don't have to follow any religious rules. I feel a lot more free. On the downside, it kind of sucks knowing that I mean nothing. When I die, nothing. Everything ends and nothing matters. This has weighed down on me and made me very depressed at times. But fuck, what do I know? I'm just some cunt with a computer.

This is pretty much why I always thought the idea that religion was a fantasy concocted by people to abate their anxieties about death didn't make much sense. Obviously hell is an anxiety-inducing belief, just like death. I'm not religious, btw. I was raised religious and hated it, but this was an argument that always seemed weak.

Nihilism though is just lazy. "Nothing matters." It's always the same answer. It's for people that just don't want to really think about stuff, in my opinion.
Clearly things do matter to you, so why arbitrarily choose to view your own life from some cosmic level where you're an insignificant speck instead of viewing it from the very real, practical level where your interactions with people obviously DO have an effect and your choices clearly do result in either pain or pleasure.
Things matter. Nihilism is a cheap escapist fantasy for teenagers. Not trying to offend you. These are just my thoughts on it.
