2. Why is hell punishing people?

1. God is eternal.
2. All His attributes are eternal (infinite), such as love, justice, etc.
3. God has laws.
4. You broke those laws.
5. You deserve eternal punishment in hell.

Why eternal punishment for finite sins?

Because you broke the law of an eternal lawgiver with an eternal sense of justice. You will never pay of His eternal sense of justice and since God by definition is justice, righteous etc, you're screwed.

But wait!

God is also eternal love.
So God decided, He would go down.
He would became a man.
He would not sin as a man.
He would keep the entire law Himself as a man.
He would die for the sins of man on the cross.
He would go to hell and burn taking the infinite punishment for us.

Why did God rise from the dead?

Because God did not deserve any of the things He was punished for.

"The wages of sin is death."

But God did not sin and thus did not earn the wage of death.

So He was resurrected.
