Used to happen, until they upgraded all the street lights in the city. Now they have these weird little black cylinders on top of them, and I have not noticed them go out since.

It's not even faulty bulbs. Street lights are programmed to regularly shut down frequently to prevent them from overheating or using too much power.

Happens to me whenever I take my bike out in the middle of the night. Usually happens 5-6 times during the ride. I usually bike during the day though, so didn't think too much of it.

Yes use to happen to me all the time in my late teens. Got those new led street lights now, and a few months ago one turned off as I approached it and came back on after I had passed it.

27 year old male, who's lived in multiple cities and does a lot of foot traffic here. Can confirm this has happened to me a significant amount of times, in the presence of my wife over the last decade. I verbally would confirm with her each time to indicate she noticed. Over time she just got irritated with me pointing it out all the time.
