The major religions, just like the major modes of culture (capitalism, communism, socialism, anarchism etc.) are simply means to control and suppress your potential as a human being, that is, a human being that attains to his or her true potential is much more powerful than the entities that wish you to not become aware of their existence.

There are three primary gradations of the entities that seek to suppress and control the human being, there have been different names for them throughout the millennia. In sequence of authority: 1.) The Rulers, 2.) The Serpentiform and 3.) The "Greys". I'll describe these beings and their roles in plain language. The Rulers are bio-mechanical, cold, seemingly lifeless beings that if you were to encounter them, would strike you to your soul with the message of "DANGER, DANGER". The Serpentiform are like attack dogs and white collar workers for the Rulers, they execute and act as intermediaries between the Rulers and the human beings. The "Greys" as they are commonly called now are the blue collar workers of the bunch, and serve a host of tasks for both the Rulers and some humans. The Rulers are who gave you your Sun worship and your systems of civilization, ever since you were born you've been brought up in their program, so to say.

Those three gradations of beings stem from what could be bluntly called Evil. Behind all the means meant to suppress you, is this Evil that is at war, or more accurately is enraged, at life and Spirit. It is similar to Spenta Mainyu and Angra Mainyu of Zoroastrianism. Evil seeks only one thing...

That is why many statues and formations in those lands have their royalty with their left foot out in front of them. They were aware of how things are, much more than the masses today.

Like a carpenter building a house the holyman seeks to build a construction of the mind for a particular mindset that could die with him/her but will ideally last longer than themselves. All things in reality are inherently fleeting but by creating a construct that can transcend the physical you can create something that withstands the fleeting nature of reality. The divine abstract constructs act in accordance with what they were designed to do. You live in a barbarous time? create a message of mercy that will transcend the barbarism. You live in a time where meaning becomes abject? Create a message of penultimate understanding of the component parts, giving meaning back to the abjectness.

All religions and faiths stem from a bottleneck in understanding and a forceful restructuring of the bottle itself. The bottleneck will re-emerge but then you just restructure it again. In this manner mankind has chosen a set metered development of its understanding; it works as well as it is designed to work, no better no worse. Philosophic or theistic quandries follow their own evolution that mirrors mankinds own evolution. A conundrum or schism will appear where it is desired to appear should its very presence facilitate the desired growth.

In the end all religions become false by way of their creation. Divine beings don't create or guide mankind, mankind creates divine proxies to "show the way" to a better life. Man creates the gods, if this is done correctly a God is born from the gods and becomes the true God for the time (being the truest path toward the desired goal). Study religions worldwide and put them in context with what the civilization deems "worthy information" in a given situation.

Our advancement has outpaced our ability to actually understand and qualify what we need to learn from given religions so we sit in the present day with "religious truth."

The part I couldn't get into due to post limit was that I think there IS divine truth behind what man has constructed, we just can't qualify it anymore as its too much coming from all directions. There is little surprise most religions or walks of life involve the same moralistic values as their penultimate truths (lessons on how to live a content life, a good life, eschewing evil).

I think the modern failing of religions is to personify God. Instead of reaching for divine heights, knowing its an almost insurmountable ordeal, we have pulled the divine down to our understandable level. This fails us in the long run as there can be no truth when you accept a debased lie as a substitute.

Its like a recipe for making the best cake available. You have a recipe, you make the cake, the recipe is now for making cakes, not making the best cake you can. You now have variations on how to make the cake, disregarding that the original meaning of the recipe was the penultimate cake, not just cake in and of itself. All the new recipes for cakes are just attempts to get back to the original recipe without knowing it. Most people are "sleeping" in the sense that they go through life unaware of what they are doing, and cannot be said to have freewill and be responsible for their actions.

Quite a few people, due to unfortunate childhood circumstances and outer circumstances, are effectively dead inside and have no possibility in their lifetime of developing self-awareness. They are automatons, and an important part of their inner self has died.

"Socialization", "civilization", the practice of learning how to be an "adult" and practicing social norms, actually deeply represses the personalities we should have; thus, people come to develop two personalities in modern civilization --- an artificial personality created by social breeding, and a true personality which remains unconscious in them, and is often on the level of a child, the level at which it stopped growing because parents, teachers, etc., repressed it in them.

These people I have mentioned before who are dead are the people whose inner personalities have been killed somehow. An important part of self-development is the process of making this inner personality, which has been repressed since childhood, the dominant personality.

People are automatic because they live in their artificial personalities instilled into them by the collective hypnosis burned into them from an early age. This artificial personality operates mostly mentally, rationally, cognitively, call it what you will. The true personality that we should be using operates primarily from the emotions. You can see this by observing children (children below a certain age usually all live in their true personalities, do not have a fake personality yet since they have not usually been socialized effectively). They are predominantly emotional, and completely sincere in almost everything they do.

Moreover, for any aficionados who realize the source of this all, an added note is that "sleeping" is not really in quotation marks. This same source of mine defined sleep as the severing of connections between the centers of the human being (emotional, physical, and mental) so that the necessary energy for life can be formulated in these centers in a state of rest, without any energy being wasted by these centers communicating with each other.

Two important centers "put into us by God" (or nature or what you will) are the higher emotional center (which allows us to experience, as the name suggests, higher emotions which form the basis of many mystical experiences) and the higher thinking center (again, self-explanatory --- and again the cause of the profound and new thoughts attributed to mystical experiences). This same source speaks of how sleep can be partial and variegated in people, and people can appear to be walking around and lucid and awake when, for instance, the connection between their emotional center and thinking center is cut off, and they are thus actually partially asleep, not in an allegorical but literal sense.

Because most people are also not connected to their higher emotional centers and higher thinking centers, people could also be said to be literally organically partially asleep in these respects.
