How do we deal with the NPC problem? What are these beings and who is putting them here? You probably walked by a few of them today. They look human but they are like a bad imitation, no thoughts or emotions of their own. Just pale imitations and a lifetime of cycling through trends in some strange attempt at making themselves look like real people.
Frankly, they make my skin crawl.

Food for thought: *You* are an npc. As am I. You are programmed with traits and variable reactions for variable interactions. The simple fact that you think you're superior the clearest indicator you're the same manner of existence, just shallowly copypasted with a few half-assed changes. There's no difference between you and they, I or you. We're *all* npc's acting out our scripted parts.
i am a secondary character in my own life ask me ama
all i can do is appear to have an elaborate personality and avoid human contact that could shatter the illusion
it does have its perks though- i dont need to be relatable like mc does (whoever they are)

If there aren't enough souls to go around then grow new ones in your children and eventually they'll reincarnate into one of those "NPCs," giving them a soul.

They're just folks that have given up on life. Or are addicted. Or scared. You should try interacting with em, it'll probly be weird but it would give them a spark of life.
This npc thing is bullshit as far as the limited amounts of souls crap, but our society has definitely bred a lot more "sheeple" and shallow/vapid individuals with a limited set of personality aspects and 2 dimensional thought processes. This is probably why this npc thing exists in the first place, because you don't have to be a narcissistic douche to see that some people are the definition of basic.

This. It's obvious from any analytical standpoint that the lack of diversity comes from the societal layer, not the physical or metaphysical layers.

Beliving this borders on anti-social personality disorder, or as you might know it better psychopathy. Just because you are to emotionally stunted to make a honest, deep human connection does not mean that the people you interact with are not human.

The chaff of humanity has always lingered.
Call them as they were once called, "kine".

Once you realize life sucks for everyone so they all numb the shit out of their lives with whatever obsession they find be it social media, drugs, or drink. Everyone has some level of perception in their lives where they feel unjustly targeted or struggled but that's all it is, everyone's hell is just personal perception but its strong enough to influence how people behave and interact with each other. I've taken a cab ride where the driver jabbered on and on and on about his favorite football team and stats the entire ride. It was an hour long cab ride -_- The worst cab ride of my life. He tried asking me what team I liked and I told him the computer scientists and I think I watched his brain short circuit trying to comprehend the fact that someone didn't like football.

Its the others who aren't self aware. Don't project your problems on me. Now run along, you might still be able to catch the game on tv!

Some delusional idiotic Hindu told me something like this but called them psychic vampires
>>19268927
There may be something to that. Interacting with that sort of person is extremely draining to me. However when I run across the occasional real person I can have stimulating and entertaining discussions with them about a wide variety of things and actually learn things from them that they aren't just parroting from a TV show somewhere.

Nah dude some people just aren't real. They have the illusion of being real but really fall short of being human. It's usually randos that you pass on the street, see at work, or are in porn. There are millions of souls, and a lot of people have unknowingly sold theirs which makes the NPC number even higher.

They're human. But they have no soul
