How mad would you be if it turned out that the Moon was basically a balloon, and also Noah's Ark? Hollow inside, with its own biosphere. That Earth is periodically beset by extreme calamity, and that it is the only safe place to be. Should the people in charge tell the truth about such a thing?

The moon is actually a mobile base which turned up some 20k years ago. The thick outer layer does a great job of absorbing impacts and radiation. While we were allowed to land land on it we couldn't do a lot other than poke around in the dirt.

If it was true, absolutely. I don't believe in "protecting people" by keeping them in ignorance. That said, it sounds pretty far-fetched even for me.
