I don't know if this is /x/ related but I had a thought
What personality would the common human have if he had lived for over 1000 years? Are we all bound by human nature to succumb to madness with evil intent or does it truly depend on the person?
I too masturbate with dumb hypotheticals

Yeah, but consider how vigorously and abstract you could, in fact would have to beat off if you lived a thousand years!
The amount of spit you would use is appalling.

Theory: our ego is a collection of protection mechanisms, reactions to traumas we suffered usually early on in life. The process of personal growth is uncovering these ego defences and healing, clearing, or integrating them whichever model you subscribe to. Now, not everyone wants to do this. Some people end up denying change throughout their life and end up 'bitter and twisted'. Some take it on consciously and try to not be a fuckwit forever. How we would end up if we lived for a thousand years pretty much depends on whether we would be willing to change, learn, grow, let go of our ego defences.
I like vampire TV shows and there's a good example of this in True Blood. Eric, at 1000 years old, is still a bit of a nasty piece of work. Godric, his sire, is 2000 years old and practically christ-like in his compassion and ability to forgive. Question is, who would you be if you lived this long?
