It's based off a woman's vagina. The whole premise of Predator was an allegory about male and female courtship. In the beginning of the film, the men are the hunters on their mission which symbolizes how men are always trying to find woman. Finally, after they successfully complete heir mission they are picked off and killed by an unsuspecting force they did not anticipate, the hunters become prey. This symbolizes marriage, where the woman turn the tables on men and slowly destroy them
