You can take just about any flight path, plot in on a globe, and it's the shortest straightest line between two points. In the case of this graphic you'd rotate the sphere a bit and that would become a straight line.

Flights do change their paths a small amount to make them closer to safe landings just in the case of emergencies, but not much.

It means math is all wrong. Much of math was developed in order to advance land and sea navigation. All current forms of navigation are based on the Earth being a globe that spins on an axis, and is of a specific diameter. I live on the Washington coast and sail regularly. Celestial navigation works, which I know from experience. If you live near a large body of water you will find someone nearby that teaches this. Celestial navigation is based on a spinning (counter-clockwise, if you are looking down at the North Pole and clockwise if you look at the south Pole) globe that orbits the Sun. Even a literal reading can be interpreted differently based on perspective. Did god instruct the author to write it in a way that someone of the time could understand? Today we have knowledge of dimensions, something someone from that era didn't have.
