Former Mormon clergy here. Well, not quite clergy, but I worked in Salt Lake at the Tabernacle as an interim youth minister of sorts.

Mormonism is odd.. they all believe their theology is true... but they are all completely aware that Joseph Smith's golden plates, Moronai, and prayer stories are all false. It's like "well, we know Washington didn't chop down a cherry tree... but it's a great story about something bigger."

Also it's super paranormal. I mean, fuck, Jesus isn't in heaven (Christians speak of heaven as another dimension of sorts), he's on a god damn (pardon the pun) planet somewhere.
