Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. For about the fifteenth time, the first five or so books are pretty good supernatural mysteries, then it quickly turns into increasingly kinky supernatural erotica. And by then you're attached to the characters. So proceed at your own risk.

Mental illnesses/conditions also tend to have "traits" than can present in lesser degrees on healthy minds.
If you'd like to hear an answer like "Maybe the vampires are calling you" or "It's possible it's your destiny to become a vampire" then reality is the wrong game for you.
Earlier impressions also shape interests, so being interested in them is normal given certain previous factors.

Yes but not if you are looking for spooks or vampires. It uses it more as a plot device than anything else. Though it has one of my favorite depictions of the sun affecting a vampire.

It affects me very negatively in a way. But also positively in another. I'm not going to explain it indepth because the thread isn't my diary.

Willpower is the hardest thing to master.
To let go, one needs to fully commit to the idea of letting go. As long as one holds on to one's obsession, nothing will work. You may not like your obsession, but a part of you loves it, that's how it works. Almost everyone has obsessions.
I've been down that road...
Learned a lot about what could and could not be real about vampires and other /x/ related things, what I found helped me made my peace with it. Finding the supernatural is a long quest, but it's worth it. Obsession is about ego though. Reward is about patience. The less you care, the more it flows.

How can you be sure?
There is fear in that thought, fear that loosing it will leave you floating in emptiness. Sometimes, one has to walk away from the void, some others, one has to commit to the fall before discovering you can fly.

If it helps though, I can share some of what I've found about it.
Being obsessively rational made me very skeptic. That only made the finding of truly rare things more exciting. However, it's rarely blatant. Never found corporeal demons or people throwing fireballs, the supernatural in our plane has a weird "thin" taste like something from a dream you're not sure if it was real or not, you can always doubt, and it will always escape your fingers. But when the most rational logic thinkers scratch their heads and analysis comes inconclusive, you can believe you found something truly unexplained. You have to lower expectations though. People turning into bats... ain't gonna happen.
