I used to get them almost everynight when I was 13 or so. First time it happened was intense. I didn't know it was a thing at the time, I thought my experience was unique, so naturally it freaked me the fuck out. My whole room had a blue glow to it. Thought I was getting possessed. Hasn't happened since, despite my efforts to induce it.

Not the anon you were talking to but ill tell about the one time it happened to me. Was sleeping on the ground upstairs cause we had family over with my feet pointed toward the hallway(no door was in a den type room) and i was paralyed, i then proceeded to look down the hallway and i watched this smeagol like creature crawl towards me, get on top of me and its face was right in mine, big ass eyes and everthing, i freaked out and wrenched myself out of it with a low scream. When i tried to go back to sleep i felt it immediately start happening again and just got up before it happened again

actually, i find dreams and paralysis to be pretty interesting, being able to take a peak to the deepest place of your subconscious imagination is just mind blowing, being able to take advantage of it and induce sleep paralysis is a great way to get to know yourself.

it's not bad, and i like that it's a little more subtle and less of a slam-dunk "obviously that's a shapeshifter" kind of story.

but somehow these stories always seem to make the monsters seem like total pussies. the protagonist SLEPT NEXT TO IT IN A TENT ALL NIGHT and nothing happened. what more of an opportunity could it be waiting for, if it wants to replace you?

if you're in the middle of nowhere with one of them already at your side (or behind your back) why do they need to lure you into the woods? the other one(s) should just fucking walk out of the trees and take you. what are they waiting for?

it might be implied that there's some paranormal reason they aren't "allowed" to leave the trees until they replace a human, but i think it's mostly because we have to have some reason the writer made it back to safety in order to explain why they wrote a story for us to find.
