Yeah basically you're mind aren't adapted to see things from other perspectives than your own, and just one perspective at a time, so you cannot imagine what it would be like, and therefore not dream in that way

I don't know about your but I switch characters in my dreams.

Obviously I'm usually the main character but when the action moves on I switch to the POV of other characters. Maybe you're just not trying hard enough
