Herbalism:Where do I start?
I do not necessarily believe in all that stuff, i am not into alternative medicine or new age stuff i just want to try it out for fun.
Can someone tell me about appropriate literature?

>I do not necessarily believe in all that stuff
what "stuff"?
>>19182525
>Herbalism
>not into alternative medicine
Then that limits you to making cooking oils/extracts, soaps, etc.
All of which are solidly in the realm of 'normal', i.e., not paranormal.

"alternative medicine" isn't /x/. If you don't believe me, take macca root. You'll want to fuck and kill everyone around you and cease to feel tired.

>no new age stuff
curiosity often builds new age stuff
Culpeper's Complete Herbal?
Fuck if I know.
Herbs can be used as seaoning, outright food, drugs, ritual items, etc. Care to be more specific?
t. drug enthusiast with decent experience in so-called "entheogens."
not to hijack OP but interested in herbs for physical and spiritual health - any literature you would recommend?

I'm no expert, but I've made my fair share of herbal meds. Tinctures, essential oils, salves, poultices, even smoking blends.
Some good plant to start off with (that produce somewhat immediate, noticeable effects) are:
>Cultivated herbs
Catnip, (smoking blends, tinctures, teas)
Yarrow (chew the leaves and flowers when you have a toothache, it will numb your mouth; tea, tinctures, bath)
Garlic (edible, excellent at treating yeast infections)
Lavender (essen. oil, spice, bath, tincture)
Cannabis (oil, tea, baked goods, smoking blend XD)
Lion's Tail aka Wild Dagga (Tea is great for breaking up mucus in the throat, can be smoked as a milder cannabis substitute)
>For wild plants, assuming you live in the eastern US (sorry if you don't):
Dandelion (Tea from the root, does well for inflammation or arthritis)
Plantain, not the baking banana kind (chew the leaf into a pulp and put it on mosquito or spider bites)
Nicotiana Rustica, aka wild tobacco (Better than opiates for spinal pain when used as a poultice against the spine, also has mild sedative properties, makes a very strong smoking blend just don't use it as snuff or chewing tobacco as it could kill you, smoking is safe though, if you do get to much through smoking you'll just blackout for a minute.)
As for books, I recommend the Earthwise Herbal by Matthew Wood (get both the Old World and New World volumes). Great beginner's resource by a legit herbalist.
