the bell was a mercury engine that was tested late in the war. although it did provide lift it was very unstable and almost completely uncontrollable. the engine was a liquid mercury with other trace metals that varied from bell to bell. the ability to use these as weapons was supposedly from the high energy output from the engines. however it is also said that due to its instability these bells simply fell over and exploded with enough energy to vaporize itself. in germany bell testing sites have been round with large concrete or metal rings that these bells would have sat on before testing. there was a documentary on youtube about it where some german scientists went to these locations and realized that the ground underneath the bell housings was supercharged. it all sounds interesting but to be honest most of the "wunder waffen" was all war time propaganda to scare germanys enemies. in truth the only real "wonder weapons" that came out of germany after the war were new machine rilfes and new advancements to night scopes, batteries and other accessories.
