Personally I kinda like it. Reminds me of lovecraftian descriptions of the city of R'lyeh. Non-Euclidean architecture n shit. even though it's just common simplified houses, still has the touch. I like it.

Because it's far too simple to even attempt at appearing passable, but still concrete enough to form referential points to the real world which is unnerving. Basically the same psychological process behind the ''uncanny valley'' effect applies here too. Also the lighting, which is associative of dusk, the last holdovers of the safety day offers and the grain filter, which further alienates the viewer from the framework of reality.
